  1. post-10346-1242638429_thumb.jpgThe day is Saturday the 16th May, woke up at 4 in the morning. Went out side for breakfast, coffee and a few smokes and noticed the wind was quite strong. I was thinking it was going to be a rough day outside the heads. We boarded at the opera house at 6 am. The skipper told us that the swell was going to be about 2.5 metres, i must say that made me a little anxious. We get to the heads and there was not much swell at all, just wind chop. I was getting very excited to drop a line in. The skipper pulled the boat up just outside south head, he said there were good flathead there. So we dropped our lines in and decovered lots of leatherjackets so skipper said lines in we are moving to outside north head. We driffed with the wind out to sea as the wind was offshore, not a very productive day compared to some of the reports i read on Raider. I must say i would do it agian in a flash for the same result, love being on the water. The only thing i caught was this good size Cuttlefish.
  2. G'day guys, finally had a successful arvo fish session,we were specifically targeting flatties, tried our usual spot, no good, found a nice sandy spot in about 7 foot of water, decided against the usual drift for flatties & went for cast & slow retrieve , within about 5 mins pulled the first up & it just kept on going for about 1 hour, yee haa, :1prop: didn't have a raider brag mat (must get one) the pictures aren't real good(phone) but the biggest was 60cm & all the others were 39-41 cm. a nice feed for 2 small families. After many unsuccessful fishing trips the :wife: was starting to think I had a mistress :074: (sure fooled her !!!!!) I am joking, it was great to finally take home a decent feed. Lost 2 bigger ones near the boat as well, oh yeh pulling the first in & we realised that we had left the net out, 2 chewed the line once in the boat :wacko::wacko:

    Cheers & :beersmile::beersmile:

    Good size lizards mate, nice to know the flatties are still on the chew.

    :beersmile:

  3. 270ml can coconut cream

    1 1/2 tablespoons green curry paste

    2 x 400ml cans coconut milk

    1 1/2 tablespoons fish sauce

    1 tablespoon brown or palm sugar

    500g perch fillets (or any firm, white-fleshed fish), cubed

    4 kaffir lime leaves

    230g can bamboo shoots, thinly sliced

    juice of 1 lime

    jasmine rice, to serve

    Heat coconut cream in a wok over medium heat, stirring, for 8 minutes or until oil and cream separate. Add curry paste and cook a further 2 minutes.

    Slowly stir in coconut milk, fish sauce and sugar. Simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes or until green oil comes to the surface.

    Add fish, lime leaves and bamboo shoots. Simmer for 5 minutes. Stir through lime juice. Serve topped with coriander leaves over jasmine rice.

  4. Hi there, I'm a new member and yes some of my friends think I am a member :tease: but I just enjoy fishing even if I am not good at it. I was just wondering if anyone knows a recipe for fish curry?

    A bloke i previously worked with (he is Fiji - Indian) made the best fish curry. Any fish curry recipes would be muchly appreciated.
