  1. Hey Tony...

I have fished up the creek, caught undersized bream and whiting. Also, when driving Nth bound up express way, I have noticed a small tinnie up there from my car, Ive seen him a few times flicking about, maybe there's something in that, at days end, I would probably head out into the lake itself.

I use the ramp at Dora Cr a bit, it has a tap there, I use it to wash and flush my tinnie. ( I bring my own hose etc)..

To get to that ramp, come Nth over Dora Ck bridge, turn right (keep the shops to the right of you) head east, go right to the end of the road, you will end up at the ramp and the parking area.

    Good luck and enjoy yourself.

    ROD.

thanks rod , we are staying at a b&b just down from the boat ramp and after talking to the owner she said a lot of people fish the around the bridges and there maybe a chance of a jewie but bream seem to be the main target but if thats no good pullbah island looks pretty good for a drift , just hope the wind stays away or we stay in the creek

    cheers

  5. Hi Tony

I have stayed up at Raffertys resort a few times with family and at bream comps.

Excellent accom and pretty resonable for a resort style place.

They even have their own boat ramp in the complex and a good sized grassed area to store your boat while there.

If your going up with the family request the Villa next to the round-a-bout, villa 2 I think. It's near reception and has a good sized grass area in front to park your car and boat, great if you run an electric motor so you can run an extension cable to charge it.

    Greg

thanks greg it's just me and the wife going , we've been looking at single bedroom cabins

  6. g'day fishraiders,

looking to go up to lake maquarie around the 22/8 with the boat , anyone heard how its fishing and any tips where to go as i haven't fished the lake , only outside , we are possibly staying at belmont , but if anyone can recommend any good cabins on lakeside please give me an idea

    cheers

  7. hey aaron,

mix ratio should be 50:1 ( say 20ltr tank would be 400ml of oil ) any standard unleaded fuel , and I usually flush my motor with fresh water and spray motor with WD40 ( around linkages or moving parts )

I would suggest a mechanic or someone who has the equiptment to do a compression test and at least a service .

metal tank should be fine as long as there is no rust or crap in the tank

  8. i haven't heard that rumor, i live 2 minutes from the lake and i walk home from school 2-3 times per week almost always seeing 2 or more fisherman. i'd say troutboy is the guy to ask.

    cheers phil.

    thanks phil,java script:emoticon('', 'smid_18')

I had to ask the question because I told some people to go there and a local told them there hasn't been fishing there for ages

  9. Gday,

This topic is a bit of a repeat of one from yesterday.

Im fishing the Nepean this arvo from about 4pm onwards. Ill be putting the boat in at the ramp in the reserve so ill be leaving before the gates shut at 9pm.

    Anyone else fishing there?

Im thinking of heading up through the narrows and looking for some surface action with poppers, maybe the bass will co-operate this time around! :1prop:

    Cheers

    Blayne

looks like its going to be a hot one so surface lures should work go past the narrows and look for some rock walls on the right side near the 8 knot signs , worked for me about a week ago , just watch out for the dipshits in wakeboats , hope you get some

    tony

  10. haven't fished much with lures but my stump jumper has bagged 60cm + tailer , and a 60cm brown at lake lyell trolling mainly but retrieving has worked too , deep dive bib seemed to work better on retrieve

  11. my missus ties her own lines baits her own hooks and takes her own fish off and that goes for my kids too they know the rules if they want to fishin with me but there is help at hand if they really need it

  12. Mate - if you are launching the boat at Soldiers Point you might as well throw a line there!  Some good lizard fishing between the ramp and Dowadee Island. If you can catch the rising or high tide drift the shallow water around Shag Island,  Bushy Island and One Tree Island - good area for lizards. If you want deeper water try around Middle Island. Flathead are on the bite but bream are still a bit shy. The clear water is not helping. There are heaps of good areas to try if you want to travel further in your boat - the Karuah River for example. Sorry I can't help with bait as I use sps. Good fishing!

  13. Heading to port stephens next weekend with me new boat and just wondering if any of u guys have fished inside and could give up any secret spots and whats u would consider the best baits to use , will be launching at soldiers point (probably) as we're staying at anna bay

  14. I got my boat 4.5mtr quinnie estury angler 40 hp merc from TR marine and they recommended club marine for $18,000 cover for boat , motor and trailer with $10,000,000 liability , $20,000 injury is $380 per yr and only $100 excess for claims

  15. g'day guys,

I was talking to a auto elect down in batt st penrith and he has rigged his trailer and boat with LED lights he reckons he'll have no problem with lights any more as he said no bulbs to blow and completely water proof , one drawback there not cheap
