I was having a beer and lunch at Sydney Rowers today and between the Rowing Club and Abbotsford boat shed the large bream cruising between the wrecked boats were huge.

Every time the river cat pulled up they went crazy chasing either small prawns or mud skippers. To bad it’s on private property.

the guys fishing the Abbotsford ferry wharf were not getting anything.

Will keep this in mind next time I go for a flick on my boat... see if we can extract a few of these thumpers you are talking about :)

  3. Hi Raiders

I have not posted here for a few years and hope to be regular poster once again!  ( Facebook is just not the same)

Anyway, I was invite to lure fish Hen & Chicken Bay on Saturday with my old mate Bert who I actually meet on this site. Now , I live 2 minutes from H&C bay but never considered fishing it as it did not look fishy enough... how wrong was I!

Fished from 6:30pm to 8:30pm with small hard bodies and we caught a dozen or so good sized flathead and 6 or 7 bream. It was fanatics fun on the light rods and tiny lures... ecogear sx40 and Atomic doing the damage

It was amazing to see the amount of surface activity and fish holding in knee deep water!

Here is a few photos before it got dark... definitely be out there again... cant believe I waited this long to fish my backyard!

    See you about raiders!

Gees those cod stink trung! Lmao

Hahahah - I'm sure your son learnt more in those 5 days than he would in a year at school !!

You need to get your bum inspected mate!... I tell you what, the smell out of it IS NOT NORMAL!  I reckon the crew onboard have developed nasal cancer as a result.

    stinky bastard

  6. Hi Nathan

the hull shape looks very much like a seajay nomad

I had a similar boat - the 3.8m version nomad which was heavily modified a while back and it served me well for the bay and estuary.

Due to the size of the boat and height of the gunnels it got very wet at times.. but this did not stop me catching plenty of fish! Has some fantastic memory's fishing off her...

Here is some photos of it:

    Hope this helps

  7. What a trip! Just recovered from all those days of fishing and laughing,,,

Had a ball of fun with the guys and all the great fish caught.... conditions was not the best this year but we all did well

Plenty of Dirty Sanchez (barracuda) smashing up lures and giving us all hell and a laugh

Ray senior with I say with fish of the trip - 18lb cobia... lucky bastard...

Good mate Peter landed some nice Barra and Queenies

Some great moments include seeing a huge bullshark come from nowhere trying to swallow my long tail tuna 1 meter from the boat while Gary / brickman was attempting to gaff my fish ... Scared the sh1t out of both of us... amazing stuff happens in wepia!

Casting and landing big longtail tuna on 4lb bream gear is also something.... Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz .... that wonderful sound!

Saw some new species this year, tusk fish, cock fish, cobia, splangled emperors, Leopard shark and a few different cods and mackerels + all the usual northern species.

Big thanks to Ray senior for organising another ripper trip and the bunch of guys who came along... Still smiling about some of the stuff said and things that happened there!

I'll post up some pictures once I get the from everyone's camera.

    Cheers

  8. Update- installed the Honda branded 11 3/4 x 11" stainless prop and what a difference it makes!

Going down 2 inches in pitch resulted in heaps more pickup and all my problems with holeshoot is a thing if the past...

Currently revs out to 5600 - 5700 rpm, lost about 4 or 5km per hour top end. All up , very happy.

    Thanks for help everyone!

  9. Nice work. What's this ars juice you speak of

It's in tube...and it smells a lot like... mmmm arse?

Smear it on the lure and the fish go arse crazy over it... jump on my boat next time and I'll give you a sniff... you will love it!

  10. Hi Raiders
Hitched a ride on my mates killer Pioneer 197 fishing machine. Plan was to get some snapper out from Botany but the big swells today put a stop to that!

Turned around to get some squid but only found big dead cuttlefish floating around so collected a few kilos for next snapper trip.

Moved to the flats off the southern side of the bay and found some very nice crocs !

Managed 3 in 3 drifts at one stage! Largest going mid 80's and other were in the 60s and 70s. No small flatties today all bigger mothers! Very nice!

Biggest ones were released after a few photos and kept the "smallest" for dinner... great time to target big Botany Bay crocs at the moment !

All fish caught in 2-3m for water and all taking large metal vibes with some special arse juice :)
    Soft plastics sucked today.

    Hoping for snapper next week!

  11. Trung, get a bigger engine!

You only have to sell 1/2 of your stella-nitro combos.

Why do you think the 455's we fished in Weipa have 60hp's on them?

( you know you want a tiller steer.....)

They even got my fat arse out of the water.

    Cheers,

    Grant.

My hull is only rated to 50hp ... I would throw a 60hp or 70hp in if I could, insurance is the issue!

No need to sell my stellas, I'll just sell my sexy body :P

  12. When you say "it struggles" do you mean hard to get onto the plane?

If so , I dought a different prop will fix the problem but speak to people like Solas as they have very good information that may point you in the right direction.

Have you tried weight distrubition , moving more weight up the front especially the two passengers?

Personally , I would be leaning a Permatrim or Sport SE300 to give you more lift in the stern.

    Geoff

    Hi Geoff

It only bogs down with 3 on board and struggles to get on the plane.. once it build up a bit of speed it hums along fine... When I'm by myself there is no issues at all..

    I already have a SE Sport 200 installed !

    Cheers

  13. Hi Raiders

Need some help in selecting a prop for my Honda 50hp (non efi) on the back of a Polycraft 455

The issue is that my boat is very heavy with 3 x large AGM batteries, 2 x bait tanks and heaps of gear on boat... add 2 people it goes ok... 3 people it struggles big time.

Currently fitted with a 11 1/4 x 13 aluminium factory Honda and seeing 5600rpm WOT & 46kph with one on board...

Looking at getting a new stainless steel prop so want to get everyone's opinion on what size prop to help with the heavy load? - not too concerned about losing some top end...

New stainless prop?: 11 3/4 x 11 , 11 1/8 x 13 or 11 1/8 x 14 prop - which would give me a slightly better low end / mid range power I need to haul my fat arse boat? How much top end would I lose?

    Thanks

    Trung

  14. Ok - I reason why I did not land any fish:

    1) I was guiding stew the rookie and showing him how to fish plastics as he loves bait

    2) I brought out the tiagra 80w gear cuz I thought we were going offshore in his 4.1 polycraft

    3) My ballz were frozen due to the cold!

I did catch 6 of these today!
