  1. Impressive! You used to be able to catch those mungrels in Centennial Park in the 80's. Well done.

If anyone is interested in a carp fishing session with kids around Campbelltown, call in and see the monks in the monastry on Narellan Road just before you get to the lights at the turn off to Macarthur University...

....There is quite a large pond alongside the bitumin driveway that goes to the monastry building that can be seen from Narellan Road and the whole vicinity smells out carp....

I've been in this area for over 35 years now and, I have seen birds dropping more turds in the monks pond than there were bombs dropped over Europe in WW2 .....Take the kids down there, I'd love to look at the pics and read the report :biggrin2:

    Cheers

  2. Sensational stuff boys. 4 seasons in one fish. Keep up the good work. Remember..... you'd rather be throwing back the small ones than be getting no bites at all!!! :1fishing1:

    Nice mixed bag Ray-

Very nice coloured flatties with the markings looks spectaular.

    Sound like a fun arvo.

Always a good report and photos

Hope you didnt catch a cold the weather isnt the best for catching fish but the fresh might clear some of the weed and garbage out of the Parra River.

    Well done!

    Cheers

  3. Hey fisho's,

Been down to the local and you will get results if you are keen. It's 'man vs wild' - extreme fishing out there on the rocks. Swell is up wind is up and clothes are wet!!! :1badmood: You have to know where the wind sheltered spots are to fish. I've got and old steamer wetsuit that i've cut the top off. I use the legs to keep warm from the winter cold and a nice jacket. Rock booties with cleats are also a definite must!

The last week-week and a half, there was a shutdown and nothing seemed to be biting, also due to the weather. Except for the pesky pike. Couldn't even catch a cold. But they're back on the bite now! Trevally, niggas, pigs and bream... all going ballistic! Make sure you give'm a good berley and you will get results. When the wind and swell drops that little bit more.... it'll be perfect! :1fishing1:

***It get's a bit hairy at times running along the shelf between sets to cast and catch, but do not fish if you are not confident and know your local spot like the back of your hand. Inside out and back to front. Know when not to fish and when to call it quits because it is too gnarly!!! A fish is not worth loosing your life for.

Keep it real and good luck on the weekend.

    Adrian.

  4. Rock cocky mate. Cale.

They're in plague proportions at my local spot and are a by catch when targeting luderick and drummer. :05: They're pests but put up a good fight! Can reach 60 cm. There's an oriental guy that also fishes there too and he always takes them if I catch I them. He'd probably have a soup or would know something to do with them! I personally wouldn't feed them to my dog. They have a clear sloppy flesh and start bleeding as soon as you pull them up on the rocks.

They've been known to be left on the rocks to die or have their heads cut off too. Some people treat them like carp... but i'm sure they have some purpose in this world of ours.

    Cheers.

Mate, they're alright, you just got to use the right method.

Bring a large pot of water to the boil, add bay leaf, some celery and carrots - choped and a few peppercorns

Just when it comes to the boil, now here is the secret

Add a Brick, but its gotta be one of these 1960s red bricks with all the holes.

anyway bring it back to the boil and hold it on a rolling boil for about an hour,,,

This infuses the flavours into the brick.

Add the fish and bring back to the boil

Keep on the boil until the

brick is soft and flakes easily, throw out the fish and eat the brick :tease:

    :074::074::074::Funny-Post: hilarious!

  5. Another Raider scoring heaps of Blackfish , there must be thousands of the things around at the moment.

Good onya Greg that's is a great haul..

    Cheers...

    Hey Ray,

I go snorkelling at my local spot X. It's a great way to see fish in their own habitat and how they act. You're right mate.... there are tons of them... and not too many small ones either! :biggrin2:

    Well done boys.

  6. Decided that today was the day after the rain and the dramatic difference between the low and high tides. Fished the run in tide to the top of the tide this time. A lot of water movement, no wind, the sun was out and I knew the fish hadn't been fed yet.

So I did the bread run and rung the Master to see if he wanted to come for a fish...... funny...... no answer....???

Had a sticky beak at my spot X and believe it or not..... the Master was in my spot with what looked like an apprentice. I rode home and got the dog and went for a walk back down to my spot X to identify the culprits. He was soon recognised as a mate we went to school with and a regular fishing partner with the Master. "Don't answer it!" was his reply when I made the morning phone call. In the time we had our little reunion, they pulled in 4 niggas and 3 pigs easily weighing 2.5-3.5 kgs. A good laugh and pay out was had and I told them I was running home to get my gear.

** Now I ask myself has the word got out??? A stern warning was made :mad3: to keep it cool... don't tell 'anyone' how good it is!

Was a little quiet while I was away but the berley kept the fish coming to us and I was soon into my first nigga followed by a trevally and my first drummer. The Master had a bought new rod which was so light the fish just took the bait and hooked themselves. He put on a display of fishing prowess that not many people could match. He pulled in another 2 drummer round the 2.5-3 kg mark and nigga after nigga. An estimate of how much his keepers net would have been 30+ kg's!!! :1yikes:

    post-10592-1243973484_thumb.jpg

The boys soon rapt up and had a huge haul. Black drummer, luderick, trevally and tarwhine. See photos.

I only had my 3 fish and was 2hrs behind so I stayed on and got a great bag myself. Did the run to dusk and the blurters just kept biting and I finally got my 2 kg + pig. I actually counted 8 casts for 8 fish!!! I took home 2 drummer, 4 niggas and 10 trevally. Unbelievable.... can this place get fished out???? We would have pulled in 40 - 50 fish with all our throw backs!

Another top day. I wouldn't be dead for quids!!! :yahoo:

(Some more good photos in my album section - same topic title)

  7. Nice catch mate, good old groper , he will turn you inside out and bust you up in the blink of an eye, if that is

Norah Head, I'd love to go back up there for a pig or groper..

    Congrats mate..

    Cheers..

You know your rocks quite well Ray! I'm impressed! :biggrin2:
