one word.... crazy!! love it most people struggle to land a marlin with 2 or 3 deck hands love how u just wind in other rod casually as the harness holds your reel screeming away...

hay guys havnt posted in a while even though i have been out alot with mixed results took a few snaps so thought id share with u guys started out sat at 5am of port bagged out on squid which has been the same over the last month usually get about 10 for kings few for the plate... there were about 10 boats out gathering squid didnt see anyone pull any in? dont know why people anchor for squid as they move around...
anyway had a mate from work who i pumped up for his first king who had already outdone me on the squid 12-3 seems to always happen with the newbies, he was already having a ball catching squid another first for him.. we took of as the crowd grew set of for some outside reefs as i knew for sure we'd get some kings... scored about 5 rats 60-65cm all throw backs every pass, had downrigger set up out and poor mans was a little sloppy so i steered as he was picked up all the fish we lost about 10 baits and decided to head inside for some more action as i had been gettin a few solid kings previous week inside first pass inside hook a decent fish went 83 on lie detecter shortly followed by 75cm... mate lost 3 fish that he couldnt stop with stela locked up.. seen one missed the net as he was really strugglin with it and took last dive around moored boat was a solid fish around 10kg?... with my mate happy with a feed of squid and kings we set of home around lunch.. much the same on sunday tryed with plastics but no luck had a follower few on squid again not much size was kind of hoping for the larger ones to show again as i had my xzoga stella 80lb braid combo ready but they live another day sorry for the bad grama tired as i have been doin night shift..

good info i seem to be the one who is next in line when someone puts there trailer in to far and end up walking down and helping them straighten the boat up i have a set method of puting trailer in the water about 100mm from the top of the gaurds and can drive boat on everytime i always tell my mates that to who usually back the trailer in

thats why i painted my ally boat black and called it (got inked)
-
well done yowie i was out 2day in 40m of water of cronulla about 7am we got heaps of sand flathead around 35-40 around 10 for a feed droped a bigger model next to the boat wind came up abit headed in and was dead inside as groper said lack of warm water and no bait fish = no pelagics didnt even try for a king got a feed and had some fun up south west arm wake skating

I just want to know what hit me early on in the session.
Whatever it was it was fast and it peeled a decent amount of line before it threw me.
Oh and to make matters worse someone came right past me in a kayak, trolling, between casts and they picked up a very nice lizard right were I had been working my lure.
proly a rat king i was squiding around bundeena last week and had a school of kings come under the boat would of been atleast 50 of them in 3m of water... no wonder the squid were playing hard to get

another option is the markham whaler 4.9 - 7m what ever size suits i think they are now called markham dominator i have a 4.9 at my house atm and was very happy with it being twin motor i found has its ups and downs more cost in servicing ect but if one goes whilest outside u always have another engine so i guess its a good thing... we got caught in a wind storm about a month ago coming back from belambi after a cracking session on the reds.. back to porthacking it was in 2+m swell 30+knot winds = not fun... 2 boats behind us 20ft+ mono hulls couldnt keep up with us.. that was my first ride in a twin and i was impressed and very stable

It the monster truck version of a tow dog
I would buy one if you make it and it cost less than $1000
I like your style , How much grass area do u have to mow?
i got 800sq block soon to be duplexed... takes around 1hour push mower and 25 minutes on ride on not including edging i have to move boats to mow under them my mower moves a 4.5 runabout, 5m markham whaler dual axel trailer no sweat does wheelie abit on the markham whaler but moves it fine
-
well done mate solid jew they can be fussy at times and only mouth the bait and play with it done well to hook it
-
i use my ride on mower to move the boats around in the back yard just welded a tow winch on the back mind u mower cost me $800 16hp nothing better then mowing the lawns quickly before heading out for a fish
-
well done on the kings i find when the water is alittle dirty after rain yakkas work better might be that they are more visable then squid in the dirty water
-
well done mate u did better then me i was out at 430am loaded up with squid watched a school of kings fly under the boat in 4m water all rats tryed everywere in the hacking nothing on the chew good shows though, i think i was the only boat out till after 7am gave up downrigging inside... ended up getting bricked out side heads twice locked stella 10000 80lb braid 100lb leader and about 50m of braid gone... to relise i only had 1m of leader left on my spool went home with bout 10 squid for next week..

hay mate
downrigging from a boat is popular and also poor mans downrigger works well u can anchor on a school and flick plastics live bait float ect all works i do all i do have more success downrigging, depends on the area u are fishing..
time of the day does matter if its a weeknd i find crack of dawn is best before the crowd boats scare them. Through the week i usualy get them in afternoon anytime because there is less boat traffic
Polycraft 455 Live bait tank DIY
in The Workshop
Posted
few extra tips
live bait tank on port side (passenger side) to counter weight of driver/clear transducer
hose in should be at top to and driping to create airbubbles when it hits water so drain outlet should be lower then the intake
clear lid so u can see if anything is wrong inside eg squid caught in outlet ect
personally i wouldnt have a external livebait tank due to live bait Yakkas are hard to hold on to unless u use a net u will loose a few trying to get them out, as they are slipery and have seen many people drop livies over the side.
get a pick up fo underside of the bilge will keep water fresh when on the move
put a tap valve on the inlet
hope these tips help
Cheers Andrew
