  1. Cheers buddy I went yesterday landing 5 with the first being an absolute cracker .

In my eyes atleast was a 4 kilo fish using a size 2/0 hook yes I know too big but I left the small hooks at home.

Can I ask how you fished for them. I went there yesterday and couldnt get the carp to bite. We could see them but they were very spooky and wouldnt even touch a chunk of bread dropped right on their noses. Also tried sitting in one spot and hoping for them to pass by but no luck as well

Although I didnt get any carp, my mate caught a salmon on the saltwater side of the wier. Never thought they would be that far up river

  2. After hearing numerous reports of snapper on plastics, I am wondering what gear everyone uses, mainly what size reels, rods and line. Do you just use your bream gear with an upgraded leader. I am thinking of getting a 2500 reel spooled with 8ld xds with a 3-6 kg rod.

  3. I am in the middle of my HSC exams and thought a quick fish would calm all the nerve and get rid of the stress. I went down to flats rock beach as it is only a 2 minute drive from my place. I riged up and on the first class caught a 24cm bream. Things were looking good but they didn't want to play after that. I moves over to the other side of te beach closer to killarney point. I was casting my 2 inch grub around when the palce stated going crazy. There were boils everywhere. I thought that my 2 inch grub would be too small as the boils were really big. I hooked a tailor about 45 cm and a kingie about double the size followed it up. The tailor came off close to the rocks so another cast was quickly fired away. This time when the lure was hit ithad much more weight and power. It did a couple of spectacular aerobic moves then started slugging away. I only had a 6 pound leader and couldn't bring it up onto the rocks. I called my brother to bring a net down. It took him 10 minuted to bring it so i just had to hold it and hope it didn't come off. When i got home i measure it and it went smack on 60cm. Only my 3rd evey slamon and my biggest. Thats a years worth of bragging rights.

It looks like the pelagics have entered middle harbour. The king i saw was a monster and glad i didn't hook it as it would have buried me in no time.

For those who want to know, it was caught on a 2 inch bloodworm berkley grub. i was using a shimano

    t-cuve XL, a shimano symetre, 4ld fireline and a 6lb leader

  4. Bohm bait and tackle at narrabeen had them in stock but this was a while back and i don't know

if they still have them. You could probably ring them and check if they have them in stock.

  5. Went prawning for the first time at narrabeen lake last thursday. It was very disapointing. The prawns weren't running and the few prawn we did catch were small and not worth keeping. There were about 3 other groups of people prawning as well and they said they got barely any prawns.

hope next time i go it will be better

  6. headed out last night for my first experience of fishing at night in a boat. Launch at northbridge around 7:15 and headed straight for the wedding cakes. It was very nice and calm out there with only a slight breeze. Was going for kingfish and jewfish but they didn't want to play. Was using fresh squid and live yellowtail. Caught a couple of bream using squid but no jewfish. Decided to head to the spit bridge. There millions of yellowtail on the surface making a lot of noise. It look like they were feeding on something. Does anyone what it is. Well caught some undersized bream and decided to call it a night. Was back at the boat ramp by 1:30

  7. left roseville at 6:30 and headed straight to sow and pigs reef. Wasn't anything there except for a couple of yellowtail so moved to the wedding cakes. First bait down was smashed and a battle with a kingfish follows. It wrap me about 6 times around the anchor rope but luckly the 6lb fireline held and when i untangled it the battle continued. After 15 mins a nice kingy about 70cm is boated. There were two other boats that were thowing sluggos and using live bait all morning and i rock up and first bait down hook a kingy.

You hear people go on about how fresh or live squid is the best bait for kingy and next best is live yelowtail or slimies, but this kingy was caught on a piece of the humble pilchard.

Was off the water at 11:00 with a kingy, 2 flathead, a bream and a trevally :thumbup::thumbup::thumbup:

  8. are the tornament grub and the original grub both referred to as PE cause i always thought that the original was the PE and the tornament was the PPE. I know the difference now. Also which is better the tornament grub or the original grub

  9. has anyone tried the new squidgie scent. I bought a bottle the other day. It smells like aniseed and is coloured red. It claims that it improves the effectiveness of all baits lure and flies. Havn't had a chance to try it yet just want to know your thoughts on it

  10. went into bohm bait and tackle in narrabeen the other day. They had the av15 for $59.95. They are usually around the 70-80 range. Couldn't help myself and bought one. This is a good reel for anyone wanting a good reel at a low price

  11. what size line would be suitable for fishing the reefs around broken bay. I was thinking that 14lb fireline would be suitable. Also how much line would i need the 125 yeard spool or the 300yards spool. The reefs are only around 60 meters deep so i was laning toward the 125 yaerd spool as the only thing that would take line would be a kingfish and they usually head straight to the bottom.
