  1. Hi All,

I'm looking at taking my 3 young kids fishing at Narrabeen Lake, but i've never fished the area, so looking for a little help. Reading a few other posts, the area around the caravan park seems the way to go, and looking at google maps, it also looks family friendly. There is an area on google maps labeled 'aqua fun park' at the end of the car park, is this the best spot for kids?

Are we a pretty good chance of landing a few fish there? i'd hate to be empty handed on their first ever fishing trip. Any specific tips for that spot... i'm thinking small baits and a little berley...is that the way to go there? What about times? is the run-out the way to go?

    Cheers

  2. A couple of years ago i was fishing the drums in botany bay... anyway, the day was coming to an end, so i was cleaning my hands, which were covered in squid ink, over the side of the boat, and the smallest king i have ever seen (approx 30cm) swam right up to within inches of my hand and was sniffing the ink cloud. i kid you not !!

    he was sooo cute

  3. I have checked the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority website and cannot find rules about fishing off Harbour wharfs and surrounding areas...

reason i ask is that i accidently dropped some of my lunch under the wharf at pyrmont today and some of the biggest bream i have seen came up and took it. :1yikes:

there is a 'no fishing' sign errected on the ferry wharf itself, but this spot is some 50m away.... and i'm pretty sure the bream would be all along the wharf.

i'm thinking purely catch and release on sp.

    any ideas on the rules?

  4. i too have a Merc with Quicksilver guages. a strange thing happened not that long ago.. my hour meter jumped approx 300 hours between trips!!! i keep a log of each trip, and it went from 300 to 600 hours in the space of a week!!!

anyone know how to reset the quicksilver hour meter? the unit looks sealed...

  5. hit the same markers again this morning for poor results  the same spots that were holding 6 or 7 fish yesterday, were dead today... the kings that i did find weren't playing ball today... nosing the lure all the way then bye bye!

very strange, but that's fishing

  6. i had a similar plan this morning... woke up at 0500, looked outside, not so nice, so went back to bed. woke up again at a reasonable hour, had breakfast, looked outside and this time conditions were much better.

i was on the water by 11, also tried for yakkas with no luck so i worked the markers for plenty of rats. 99% were between 55-60cm, kept one for the bbq and the rest went back.

it turned out to be a great day... overcast with little wind, had most of the bay to myself and heaps of hungry kings!!

might give them another crack tomorrow

  7. tell me about this coffee shop... is that the one closest to the hot water outlet? we usually head over to danny's for fish & chips, but a pie would also hit the spot.

went out 5 o'clock today straight to yarra bay got a few small yellowtail no squid around seen a couple of guys there trying as well for them but none of them caught any went to trev alley no luck, tried the drums no luck, tried the wharf nephew caught an oki got a few strikes think it was tailor went to watts reef got 58 cm king :1badmood: banjo shark disturbed us for a little while got another hit didnt stick, pulled the hooks tried spinning a slugo kings followed it all the way to the boat didnt strike, got hungry curnell coffe shop for pies and headed home not a bad day, after all could have been at work. :biggrin2:
