  1. Come on boys do you really think your going to get someone from this site to join you on the trip????

95% of these puppets wouldn't even know where Weipa was, they would have to use goggle maps then check weather conditions and also check if there were insects that bite......

Stick with people you know and not people you have to hold there hand!!!!!!

Have a ripper of a trip anyhow's boys, it should be a cracker run off up there this year and the barra should be going nuts!!

Say hi to Steve for us!

Tell him to start stocking the VB and we wont to go PIG shooting!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. Wake up at 3am get your S@#t together head straight out off Maroubra, drive as fast as you can till you see about 69 boat already out there!!!!

Oh yeh you can launch from Long Bay!!!!

    Have a great day...............

    Peaks Everywhere!!!!!!

  3. Thats an awesome effort mate in those shocker conditions you had in the river, lets hope those trev's stay in the system and grow up a bit, that was the first year ive seen so many of them in Nambucca and Kalang

I really started to work out how the bass were feeding towards the end of the trip and like you are itching to get back there and have another crack, there are some absolute crunchers in those upper reachers.

Crongats on the HOO!!!!!!!! :yahoo: She's a corker and to catch of the east coast of NSW is bloody sensational.

Hav'nt been able to get out for a session since ive beeen back in the bay but itching to have a crack at a few whiting in the shallows over the next few weeks, i will be in touch :biggrin2:

  4. I dont think your tying it right mate, it should'nt slip at all.

The only problem ive had with an albright was after heavy constaint fishing i have noticed wear on the mono around the loop.

There are good instructional vids on youtube that show you step by step how to tie correctly.

Its only a good knot to use with braid to heavy mono leaders, if your just using light to medium leaders stick to double uni and take your time tying it.

  5. Great catch mate, there not really a common catch in sydney but have definately been on the increase over the last few years in the later stages of summer.

Great table fish and they pull like a train, must of been a fun few minutes trying to land it.

If your struggling with shy Kings Guys and they arnt responing to lures or baits ive always found that a live lightly weighted Nipper cast into a school of fish very productive. Ive seen them reject lollypop yakkers, slimeies and squid but they cant get go past a live Nipper, 00 ball sinker down to a 1/0 and your in business

  6. Pigfish are sensational on the plate mate, they are a prize catch when your bottom bashing offshore reefs off NSW

They dont grow that big, 40-50cm is a thumper fish and id prob compare them to Sweetlip or Coral Trout in eating quality.

  7. Basscatcher- Mate thats a shame about Monduran but you should have a ball at Glenbawn, looking forward to the report!!!

    Give em heaps!!!!!!

Poddy Trapper- Hope you get some good weather when your up here, the fishing is off the hook at the moment.

Hav'nt tryed the area you mentioned yet due to rain but im itching to get there.

Hodgey- 40cm bass would top the holiday off, had about 100mm of rain in 2 days and the rivers are back to choc milk, heavy rain

forecasted for the next 4 days so not looking good but will definately have a good crack at it.

    Cheers, Mick

  8. I love it mate, certainly is a great form of fishing.

Got lots to learn and plenty of great water to start exploring up here to, so good to get away from the crowds and im still blown way how hard 30cm fish pull.

Will have to get together for a few Sydney sessions when i get back.

    Mick

  9. Hey Guys a little bit of bad weather has set in up the coast so ive put together a little bit of footage of my first few Bass Fishing sessions on the Upper reachers of the Nambucca River.

My first crack at these little beauties is in Taylors Arm and the fishing was great!!!!!!

As everyone is well aware of the huge amounts of rain that is smashing the east coast the rivers are very swollen and the fishing is a little tricky with fish tucked up right under cover of river banks and snags.

Fished for area for two mornings and nailed over 15 bass to 37cm :yahoo: and was smoked by a cruncher that took me into the weeds.

Still very new to this style of fishing and need to spend a little time getting use to throwing light lures amongst the timber, think ive spent more time in the trees then in the water at this stage :ranting2:

Lures that seem to be working well are Atomic Deep divers 35mm, no fish yet on surface lures and the fishing around mid morning has been the most productive.

Next adaventure planned for the Bowraville area where ive been told the fishing is a little better and average size of fish a little bigger so i cant wait for the weather to clear up and get amongst it.

    Enjoy the footage!!!!

  10. I arrived on christmas day and the weather was awful, the region had about a heap of rain in 48 hours and the rivers were a mess.

Lucky enough the big tides flushed the rivers quite quickly and it was'nt long before the river was back to normal and we planed to hit the whiting in a major way.

Ive traveled up here with a good mate who grew up in the area and has good knowledge of the system so was'nt long before we were into some great catchs during the morning run-in tide.

Regular catchs of 20-30 whiting a morning and some great fish up to 40cm

A little bit of bad weather set in for a few days and the wind got the best of us so we decided to mix it up a little and hit the Kalang river which is a little more protected from the wind.

Flicked a few shore lines for lizards but they did'nt wont to come and play so we moved out to a break wall that leads out to sea, nothing happened with the plastics so i changed to a large Strike Pro Blade and first cast was absoulutly smoked by a large powerful fish that i had no chance stoping so close to the break wall :ranting2:

Attached another blade but this time i was switched on, a few more cast and again the lure was belted and the fish was doing all it could to find it home in the wall, bazza got on the leccy and together we pulled the fish out into deep water, a few tight moments and we got a look at it, to my amazement there was a large Estuary Cod that went 4.5lb and :yahoo: and so far has been the highlight of the trip for me.

The last few sessions have been a little tough on the whiting but still filling the esky slowly throughout the morning and returning by lunch to replenish our fluid levels and hit the beach in the afternoons to stock up on worms.

Two best whiting of the trip so far have been nudging the 45cm mark and have both gone like trains in only inchs of water!!!

Weather has turned a little nasty again with s-se winds 20-30knts forcasted for the next few day so ive planned to head west for the fresh water and get stuck into these Mid-North Coast Bass!!!!!

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!

    Mick

  11. I like a bit of colour in the water up there, fish seem to get they aggessive when theres a bit of fresh around.

Stinging to hit these bass in warrel, never tried it up there before!!!!

Im up there for two weeks, thinking of returning around 13th-14th of Jan.

Ive stocked up to, i even had to go buy a bigger lure box to fit them all in!!!! IM BLOODY HOPELESS :biggrin2:

    Mick

  12. Nice one mate, some nice fish there!

Im guessing the whiting up at Nambucca will be darker models this summer, the river is a mess again and there is alot more water to drain out to sea yet.

The whiting are starting to show up in good numbers along the beach at Valla, so finers crossed the the big girls move into the rivers soon to spawn.

Cant wait to get up there for Round 2!

    Mick

  13. Cheers for the heads up  Just checked the local area down there on goggle maps, there are a few feeder streams down near his property that are worth a shot at.

Will definatly give them a crack next time im down there!! Summer crowds in sydney rivers are shiting me to tears so some fresh water action over the next few months is on the cards i think.
