  1. Thanks for all the replies.

Does the area where the gutters are usually formed adjacent to where the surfers are?

I'll go try my luck again this weekend if the weather holds up.

Didn't know beach fishing was so hard! haha

  2. Hi all,

Thought I did enough research online on gutters and went out on Sunday for a beach fishing session.

Tried looking for a gutter but had no idea what I was doing. It all looks the same to me.

Can anyone give me some good tips to spot beach gutters.

    Thanks all.

    Keep fishin!

  3. Mate,

Looks like you are looking at the right places.

Probably suggest investing in a decent squid jig like a yamashita or yozuri. Will increase your hit rate.

Been using the yamashita egi sutte r lately and its been real good.

  4. Hi All,

Was fishing out at Gymea Bay Baths on Sat night and a bunch of kids and their parents came at 10pm to the wharf. Kids were running around casting over other peoples line and being disrepectful to the other fishos there. At least have the decency to say sorry if you cast over someone.

I have nothing against kids fishing and will love to take mine fishing when that time comes and of course kids will make mistakes fishing, but have some manners please!!

On another note, the number of undersized fish being taken home is appauling. In my opinion, fisheries need to patrol the fishing wharfs more to discourage people taking undersized fish. I bet half won't even have a fishing licence!

To all those who respect other fishos, keep up the good work!!

    Thanks All.

  5. Hi All,

I'm looking to get a Pflugeger Supreme XTS. Anyone got one or used one before? From the reviews online they look pretty sweet.

Any advice on reels around $150 would be greatly appreciated.

    Keep fishing!

    Thanks all.

  6. Hi all,

Was fishing over the long weekend and my friend had tangled his line as she was new to fishing.

Anyways unscrewed the drag and untangled the line and DROP... i dropped the drag screw on straight into the water...

I was just wondering if anyone had a daiwa d-shock reel that they don't use and willing to sell to me.

    Thanks all.

  7. Berleyguts,

Thanks for all your tips.. you're a legend!

All I have to do now is catch some fish :biggrin2:

Even though i would love to go lb game fishing, i dont think we'll have the time too... However I'll take my heavy gear just in case.

I'll certainly take up my snorkeling gear and check out Fingal Bay. Hopefully the weather is not to bad.

Also thanks for the advice on checking out the marine reserves, the last thing i want on this trip is a big fat fine!

Thanks for all your help. Greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

  8. Thanks for the reply Slinky,

I'm trying to target bigger kingfish and other pelegic fish on a spinning reel...

On my heaviest outfit i've got 60lb main line braid and use 60lb fluorocarbon leader..

    Hopefully that helps.

    Cheers

  9. Hey all,

I'm fairly new to fishing and was wondering what type of knot you guys use for heavy duty outfits. My knots seem to pull when i hook on to bigger fish.

Also can the same knot be used for braid and mono?

    Any advice would be appreciated.

btw.. great site.. I've learned so much from reading all your posts.

    Cheers
