  7. i used to have the same problem trick is to stick to that one river system and its basically trial and error untill you learn the river and how it works :/ i used to goto botany and come home empty handed everytime but now im starting to actually come home with fish i will admit fish raider has helped me out a fair bit too
  8. i have 3 raiders also signed up
  9. yeh the double hookup was insane had that one 40lb mono on a 15kg rod i never thought my rod could bend that far haha was insane it happened at least 4 times that day only only 3 being landed i landed one double and on my 2nd double i lost the fish on the bottom hook took it clean off at the boat 2 others landed the other double hookups. as for the stomach contents i was curious as to why its stomach was so massive and solid and yeh was odd to see another flathead of 15cm in its belly as well as a leatherjacket lol i guess it explained why it was so solid
  10. looks like im going kingfish fishn this weekend

  12. i got to kyeemagh boat ramp @ around midday and was packed with people bringing in their boats and heaps of people were saying its too choppy out there ( i didnt notice ) i could of went out anyway but i chose to head over to port hacking/greys point as i had my mum young brother n wife with me too and i dont think they would of been able to stand the chop much.

  14. well i caught a 52 cm flathead with a 15cm flathead and a 5cm leather jacket in its stomach :/ go figure the flathead was half decomposed lol was a weird find
  15. Hey guys had 3-4 weeks off work and pretty much utilized them as much as i could to go fishn. First trip 23rd december - Charter - with own gear i arranged a fishing charter with a whole bunch of friends etc.. went with a charter mob from captain cook bridge departing @ 6am, refusing to use rail mounted reels i brought my own rods and tackle Got out the heads of botany bay and off shore from coogee about 1-2km within 2 minutes of me dropping my line down i was hooked onto some rats i hadnt even got near the bottom yet the water was in coloured yellow / green from the amount of kings out there, through out the day i was hooking up these kings one after the other with the occasional double hook ups on one line ! awesome fun unfortunatly not one was a keeper all measured about 60-64cm one being 64.5 with the skipper chucking it back in ( 5 mil off dang ) anyway we also hooked up about 10-20 mowong which i did not like so i kept playing with the rats as i was having a ball landing all those kings. all in all got back to shore with a mixed bag of mowang 1 king that was 68cm and 2 rock cod and all the sgt bakers were thrown back in the water. 2nd trip 26th december, Botany Bay First we took my mates boat out having troubles with that boat and being stuck on the water for a few hours from morning i said screw it lets go home and grab mine, i think i may have reported on this but the we got out about 5pm again with my boat went over to the HWO caught few trevvors and about 30-40 yakkas all went in the live well and with that the bigger ones were taken out and put into the esky for eating and the smaller were going for live bait. went over to the runway as i had that feeling it was gonna be a jewfish night, anyway set up all the rods long story cut short i still have not caught a jew but the guy i brought on the boat hooked the jew through its tail and we landed it. 1 WEEK BREAK - FRIENDS FROM NZ CAME FOR NEW YEARS (they got me my new Olympus Tough digital camera waterproof etc.. now i got a proper camera for my fishing trips) Tuesday 5th Jan - Botany again finally fixed mates boat and was working perfect so we went for a fish to botany bay this days target was Flathead, had live prawns ready as well headed out at first light drifted from brighton all the way to captain cook bridge. 1st catch went to my mate landed a small 25* cm flathead whcih went back in and i turned and said "ok you got the first fish im gonna have the first keeper" i opted to use soft plastics this whole day as i had not caught anything with them before and i was really keen on getting some fish on them within 20 minutes i hooked onto a 62cm Flathead !!! WHOPPER! i freaked out my mate wasnt ready with the net so stupid me grabs the braided line slicing through my fingers to bring the fish aboard, landed it and cheered for my first fish on plastics with blood dripping down my hands lol washed my hands in the water and casted out again slowly drifting along we were at about ramsgate and the water was getting pretty shallow, so i started reeling in and was mucking aout watching my plastic bait in the water when a flathead swam by done a u turn and attacked the plastic in front of my eyes i was amazed at this lol this didnt take long to bring aboard and was 40cm on the rule i thought yes another keeper dinner tonight is set, we went back up for a 2nd drift and my mate needed to take a toilet break lol so i put the boat up on the beach let him off to go to the bathroom and reversed back out to wait for him while waiting ithought i might give it anohter flick sure enough withing seconds of it hitting the water i was hooked onto another 58cm flathead! Gutted and cleaned the each flathead was 62cm - 1.8kg gutted, 58cm flathead gutted 1.4kg (with to my amazment had a 15cm flathead in its belly as well as a 10cm leather jacket) and the 40cm gutted was a mear 0.85kg all made a great meal with the bigger one not as nice as the medium sized one 2 days later take out my other lil boat to give it a run as its been sitting for a bit went to georges river to muck around with plastics as my mate was kinda freaked out that i outfished him with no "real" bait so he purchased a whole heap of plastics and jig heads etc.. even bought the same rod as me mucked around for a bit catching few lil whiting and tailor nothing major. PICS ARE ALL ON MY CAMERA STILL WILL UPLOAD TONIGHT!
  16. yer i wouldnt use all 6 at once but id have 2-3 lives out and one to play around with at one time i have dif rods for bigger fish and another for bream/flathead etc.. etc..
  17. haha that is the next plan hell ill put out 6 rods if i must
  18. hey guys took my mates boat out @ 10am yesturday got half way and the motor was playing up so wasted half the day sorting that out got the boat back in went home picked up my boat and 3 of us went out again to botany the night looked good and i could feel we were gonna hit a jewie (never got one before) so anyway hit up the hotwater outlet for a while catching some trevvors etc.. so we at least got a feed and then the yakkas came out took about 30 of them kept them in the live tank 12 were only good to use as live bait the rest for 30cm o_O so kept them for a feed too anyway yakkas stoped around 10-11 pm so i said we gonna head over to the runway and give it a go for a jew. Set up everything got 3 rods out with live yakkas and 2 other rods with squid pieces and another with a prawn for the odd flatty/bream . laid down started to chill and have a power nap then BANG the prawn rod goes off and my mate is stressn coz he thinks somthings wrong with his rod/reel that he just bought coz it was feeling really weird pulling it up, anyway we managed to bring it to the surface i had the net ready coz it was a big hit and BAM 65cm Jew hooked THROUGH THE GOD DAMN TAIL!!!!!!! measured in at 65cm rough weight would of been 2kg maybe lil more of course i wasnt too happy coz i still havnt caught a jew and everytime i take somone out they catch one but i dont lol pics below. Shit pic with phone in the car park after we came back had more but they were worse mate took a pic of it at his house which is also below end of the day still had heaps of fish + the jew we split the the fish 3 ways mate took the jew he cought and my other mate an i split the rest

  20. yeh it seems its the way to go i actually just found some online for $100 less than my tackle shop so i might just grab one
  21. grab your spears next time you go for a swim flake for dinner anyone?
  22. also where do u go for the challenge is there a particular river system or waters that you must fish in etc.. or is this going by a get out in any waters catch the target fish and upload the pics. either way $20 is nothing to pay and its going to a good cause so ill be in even if i dont get out for the fish + get brag mat and a cap depending on what the target fish is ill probably be able to catch some
  23. Hey guys i've decided to get a downrigger put on my boat now ive been told to look for 3 specific brands "scottys" "canon" and the "penn" by fellow raider from bias boating now i went to my local tackle store and he has all 3 there on special ranging from $400-$550 starting with the penn as the cheapest then the scotty's and the canon what iwant to know is which of these 3 would be a good enough to start out with and be the better the Penn one has a longer arm which means it can sit out furtherand in my opinion would suit a bit better as it will avoid getting near the motor etc.. however i did like the scotty's one was compact and looked a charm the canon to me looked about the same as the scotty's. now i know most people are buying the scotty's but i just want to know why that is.
