  1. Was your line straight up and down when she went deep? If so you need to drive the boat away to get a nice angle on the line to the fish (of course that's if you have enough line to do so) and plane her up, you have next to no hope without some degree of angle on the line. Its a hard pill to swallow when you miss out on a great fish however keep at it mate and the rewards will follow.

    Tight lines!

  2. Hi Damo thinking about making my way up early tomorrow, will be my first time taking the boat up there so hopefully we can raise a marlin or two. Couple of questions! I have all the marks for up there however was wondering if you could tell me where/what marks are good for a jig for kings? Also where is the best ramp to launch the boat? And lastly could you point me in the direction of bait grounds in close? Cheers mate and tight lines...

  3. Hey Raiders just a quick update, raised a black South East of the 12 mile around 70 fathom unfortunately had a good go at the teaser and then nothing. Was plenty of bait in the 70-80 fathom. Going to Port Stephens on the next trip as with commitments i wont get out till start of feb, surely i will break my duck for the season soon. Good luck to who get the chance on Sunday.

  4. Hi raiders,

Heading off Sydney in the morning to try get my first Marlin of the season, checked rip charts and all looks great. Thinking i will head over to the Botany wide fad early see if there is any mahi mahi around then set the spread (a mix of scent blazers with one of my fav Big Reidee from good old Ronnie in Hawaii)... I will trawl out to around 70-80 fathoms looking for any bait and birds and then over to the 12mile for when the tide change hits at 710am, whats everyones thoughts? Bait station could be another option too. Damn i hope i can raise one tomorrow as this is my first shot at them this year, i had one attempt last year around xmas for zeros. Any opinions would be good! Tight lines!!!

  5. Ran it with water, blades set properly, boat been sitting there since start of winter and had a good flow. Its a 2006 75 hp Mercury. Thanks for the replys guys and clearing that up for me, will run again tomorrow and see how it goes.

  6. Hi raiders, finally finished the last bits and pieces of my winter maintenance. The last thing i did was install a new impeller and grease the prop. When i started it after this i seemed to have excess white smoke (more than normal), being my first impeller change i am just looking for a bit of reassurance as im thinking it is normal when installing a new impeller that you will get a bit of burn off. Please tell me my hunch is right or any ideas of why would be appreciated. Thankyou and tight lines.

Ps i did put a fine coat of grease inside the impeller case for initial start up as recommended from boat mechanic
