  1. You cannot just buy across counter. You need to order and then collect a couple of days later. They are made to order by their compound chemist. The few times we have used them over the years this has been the case.

  2. Where do we start?

Wagonga Inlet has plenty of flathead, bream, whiting as well as tailor and jewies. You can pump nippers on the sandbars around town, they are plentiful. There are 6 boat ramps servicing Wagonga so no worries there.

    Beach fishing is ok too.

To the north at Dalmeny there is Mummaga which holds good flathead.

To the south you can fish Corunna Lake down near Mystery Bay. This is the local ski boat place but holds good fish and has a good ramp and BBQ families.

A few things to do. Fish, play Narooma golf course, the Narooma Icecreamery has great homemade gelato. Best fish and chips etc are at Dalmeny. Also Oysters are a must as they are grown locally in Wagonga.

Look up the Ocean Hut Compleat Angler in Narooma for all local fishing info, they are online and on Facebook.

Good luck, you will definitely return. We did for 21 years for our family holidays from Sydney and still go down for a week in February as a couple.

  3. The oyster leases are in Woolooware Bay. Up the back on the southern side and eastern side. Very shallow and you can get there without too many issues but be careful as there are also some disused racks along the northern edge which are not clear and can be a navigation risk.

Bream and flathead as well as whiting available. Blue Swimmers also at times but no traps permitted, only line fishing for crabs permitted I believe.

  4. I agree with Sydneyfisher 12. I have a few of the exact combo's the Catana rod with a Sienna reel, either 2500 or 1000. Either works well and are fantastic. You should get this combo for around $80. Use 6lb braid and 10lb flouro flathead, and 4lb flouro for bream. Job done.

  5. Plenty of beach worms there for your use.

The southern inlet is a restricted zone. You can fish Carunna Lake a few km down south, good for flathead and other species on lure. Or bait.

Dalmeny to the north is also good for beach fishing but you need to walk along to get to good water.

Very light gear and you will get a nice feed in Narooma itself of flathead, bream and whiting.

Not fishing, you have fantastic Oysters in the area. Make sure you visit Tilba, Cabargo, Bermagui etc. the South Coast I'd fantastic. We have visited with the family for over 20 years and when your there you'll know why.

Also excellent gelato bar. In. Narooma and a few good food outlets.

  6. Your on the money. Bermagui is great. Narooma is the bomb. Lots of offshore options and plenty of beaches or lakes/rivers to explore all within an hour of each.

Not as crowded as the North coast and the water is way cleaner.

You will not be disappointed and I guarantee you will return within 12 months.

  7. Jackets are everywhere. Week before last got 15 keeper flathead drifting off Bate Bay. Last week (Monday) 1 Flathead and lots of lost rigs to jackets. Even when I moved after first jackets, about 400 meters, as soon as I stopped the jackets came up behind the boat at the surface chasing anything in the water. :1badmood:

  8. My wife and her brother suffer cronic sea-sickness. In a boat inside Port Hacking and they feel unwell.

We went for 2 days ocean diving a year ago at Ningaloo reef (outside the reef) diving with Whale Sharks and she used the ET (Andrew Ettingshausen) sea sick capsules. They worked a treat. Her brother just sailed to/from Melbourne to Sydney and no worries either.

They are on his Escape website and they are produced by a compound chemist in Caringbah in Sydney. You can order over the phone. No drowsiness or thirst as all the others cause. I have tried all the suggested tablets and aids and this is the only one that worked 100%.

  9. Give Hunts Marine a call at Blakehurst.

When they fit out boats, clears are options and they use someone locally. They could give you the name of the guy for you to ctc directly.

  10. Nice mixed bag there.

I was out off Cronulla between the Hacking and Boat Harbour and there were lots of flathead but mostly small. Were you in close or out further? I was between 10-20m.

Grays Point was interesting as it seems to have silted up with more sand around the boat ramp since the last rains. On the low tide it was very shallow.

  11. Well, now to make you all jealous - last week I made it 3 days out of 5 fishing.:1fishing1:

Both Wednesday and Friday provided heaps of small flathead in Bate Bay and lots of slimeys. On Wednesday 1 slimey even took a 5" Jerk Shad all the way down with just the jig head showing. It was only about 30cm long so it was an incredible feat of gluttony!

Managed 12 keepers on Wednesday and 5 on Friday and probably 20-30 too small and released each day. Was only in between 10 and 20m of water so might have to try a little further out next time.

    Tight lines

  12. Hi all,

Went out for the morning yesterday off Cronulla for some flattys. First time outside in my runabout but kept in close as no radio or epirb.

Drifted in a few places for a feed of flattys and put about 20 undersize back. Place was alive with slimey mackerel. All over the bay no matter where I drifted, and all between 30 and 45cm taking my pilchard baits at any depth including the bottom. Even caught a couple on 5" Jerk Shads as I was using light bream gear as well. A couple of trevs and small reds behind Jibbon Bombora. Water was about 16 degrees and seas were flat as. A few dolphin and 1 turtle, no whales.

Might get out again tomorrow for the morning.

  13. Went for a flick with a topwater yesterday out at Kurnell (Bonna Point and Groynes) and water was surprisingly clear. You could even see in the distance over the bay the light and dark of sand and weed so it looks a lot better.

  14. Hi Guy's,

Anyone have any ideas on storing/keeping soft plastic jig heads in good order so they won't when stored? After use I place in the tackle tray but over time they start to get surface corrosion and affect others in compartment. I was thinking of dropping in some fish attractant before storing. Obviously WD40 is no use!!!!

    Any suggestions appreciated.
