  1. Hi Guys

Went out on Sat, loaded up with squid and started Downrigging for kings. We only found small/tiny kings in close. So went and got some flatties instead.

Also film a squid coming to the boat using the Gaff cam.

Looks like you got a nice feed there Formosan , nice work :yahoo:

  2. Hello all. I have returned to Sydney after quite a while down the coast honing in my saltwater skills but now being up in the blue mountains I have turned my attention to trout. My only issue is I have never fished for trout before and only have the vaguest of ideas on where to start. It looks like I am going to be spending a bit of time at TCD and other places over the hills trying to work out these elusive fish and was wondering if anyone would like to join me and point me in the right direction for trout techniques.

Any advice and company would be most welcome.

    Luc.

    Rainbow power bait nuggets :1fishing1:

  3. Im in the market for a new fishfinder and wondered if anyone can to give me some advice on their experience with the newer models. I am willing to pay up to $350. I have done a bit of research and am leaning towards a lowrance MK5 pro with a mono screen or the DSI model. The info i researched online seemed to state that they are all basically the same and it was the bells and whistles that raised the cost. Ok, so what bells and whistles are essential, remembering that I fish mainly pittwater and middle harbour (the heads on a good day)with the odd sojourn into botany bay.I would like down scan so that means a split screen I s'pose. I have a 14ft tinnie and I will target anything. Any advice will be most welcome

Hey Pete , have seen the Lowrance Elite 4xDSI for under $300 .BCF just had them all on special and evilbay online shop also has them

Its got a 3.5 inch screen , thats a lil less than the Elite 5 range but all the DSI features and so on

  4. Ok fellas need some advise on what lure / plastic you would take on a charter for the day .We are going off Wollongong , hopefully getting some snapper or whats ever hanging around the reefs. Ive seen the snapper snatchers and lucanis jigs but not sure so all help appreciated :1fishing1:

Few lovely trout and a great day of beautiful scenery.

    Mike

You made me call up some old friends to catch up and organise a fish / chat /

  6. Big question is how much is the budget....

Budget is open Burnsy , just want value for money and something thats easy to use .

I,ve just finished fitting a Lawrence HDS5gen2 to the Kingray, got it for my birthday(70)

So far only have tried the simulation, to see if it worked, came up with a map somewhere in central USA:insane:

It seems quite easy to understand, BUT the big Q is about the map card.WHich one and why??

I fish outa Crowdy and need info for this area only not SA NT etc. can anyone help here?

Went with the Lawrence as Barkley Marine has a demo set up they gave me a heads up and then let me play on it for hours

then I had to take one home, I looked at a lot of others in the 1K range and there is not all that much between them, just go with the one that turns you on and good luck.

    Thanks

Depends on the depth your fishing in, the DSI units from memory read to about 60m. I have an elete 5x and I love it, it will read to 300 with the supplied transducer. But if your fishing Mostely the bay ect I'd go with the DSI.

Actually just PM huey hell set you straight, and I think he had some deals on a few weeks ago.

Plumb just found a site with the Elite 4 x DSI , they look good but not sure of the size . Think i may have a look at the 5x also but my boat is for the bay so not sure if its a overkill

    Thanks
