Gday guys. This is my first post back after a long lay off not having a boat and I apologise if this has been addressed elsewhere on the forum. I have looked but couldn’t find any direct answers to my question regarding welders in southern Sydney. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I just bought a boat that I was told had some holes but once I removed the carpeted skids off the trailer I found many more holes than expected. My initial plan of puttying the holes has now changed to welding plates on either side of the boat.
I have made contact with a local boat welder who I am waiting on a response from but I’m not sure if it’s too small a job for him to be interested or if he is simply too busy to get my boat in.
I would love to get the boat on the water before it gets too cold to take the daughter out, so any recommendations of boat welders with proven experience would be appreciated.
Again I apologise if this has been addressed elsewhere in the forum.
Mate call Dave from DM Marine on 0410774696. He is in Kirrawee and is very well known in the area as a top notch alloy welder

is there a petition or something we can sign to oppose the change?
-
yes mate it will work. I used to do it at my parent house on the hackling years ago. I had 2 lights out and it definitely helped!
-
it will cause interference. Ideally your trolling motor should have its own battery or batteries

Lpve to know if motor hanles your bigger boat Frank. I have a 5.6 Quinnie. A bloke in my club has a 5.2 quintrex and recons it goes ok but he dousnt go outside. Ron
Campr if your boat is 5.6m you will definitely need a 24v motor probably 80"lb thrust with a 72" shaft, particularly if fishing offshore..

the yammy is 1.8l and the merc is 2.1l so the yammi will work a little harder merc ct would be close to 200kg and the yammi ct prob around 180kg .all brands of 4 strokes are good these days you just need to choose what suits you the best good luck and let us know what you decide cheers dunc333
the Mercury 115hp CT is only 164kgs so even though it has more displacement (2.1L) than the yamaha its still actually lighter!

i would be going a motor guide or minn kota over anything jervis walker

Mate i have a Mercury 115hp PRO XS CT and love it. The Command thrust gearbox allows you to use the full range of the Mercury propellors for motors up to 400hp!

I’m after a new baitcaster rod for casting light weight lures. Any suggestions welcome. I’m thinking I need something at least 6’6” and preferably in 1 to 3kg weight range. Most baitcasters seem to be in a much heavier weight range.
Hi mate, i have a Daiwa Blacklabel V2 baitcaster and it is 1-3kg 6'6 or 6'8 1 piece. Its an awesome rod and probably 6-7 years old now. As others have said most are heavier but you should be able to find a few 2-4kgs around the boating, camping, fishing shops. My daiwa was probably $400 - $500 back then but thats what i had to pay to get a 1-3kg rod

Most 14' runabouts are rated up to a 40hp so you should be fine. Is there a horsepower rating on the boat somewhere?

Depends on what size double clutch?

On another note how does one expect to buy a boat and take it home with you from the show??? Trailer needs to be registered and how would you think you could get your car in to tow it home 🤣🤣🤣

Mercury 2 stroke motor
in Boating
Posted
Optimax were are great motor and i believe still are. A lot of the ski boats and race boats like bullets pretty much only run Mercs and most would be the DFI 2 stroke Optimax. Ive had a 115hp and a 150hp Optimax over the years and they were a great motor with no issues at all! I think you may have rung my shop last week and asked about this motor...
