  1. Thanks Benzeenees. Will definitely have a crack for some snapper and might leave te odd lively out for a king if they have still been lurking around just in case they decide to play fair.

  2. Hey fellow raiders. Have managed to snag a couple of days off late next week leading into the weekend so am heading down the south coast traveling in between bawley and ended. Just wanted to check how the fishing is currently and if its worth having a crack for the odd king still?

  3. Hey fellas,

Just wanted to see if anyone has had any luck out off the south coast area in between batsmanship and ulladulla. Haven't been down over the past six months and don't want to waste the first half of the day sussing out what's on the bite ect.

    Tight lines

  4. What's it been fishing like this past week. Been to busy with work to get out but think next Wednesday I'll be able to give it a go. Have the Pelagics moved in on middle harbour yet or is the fresh still keeping them out at past the heads? Cheers

  5. Hey guys got into fishing last summer and had a heap of time trolling and lure fishing around middle harbor in my tinny. Ive managed 5 or 6 illegal kings countless bonito tailor and salmon and had some good success bait fishing for bream and trivially this winter. Coming into spring I e wanted to start livebaiting for kings and Jews but have no idea of how to start. Have had some experience catching yackas and squid but just don't know how to present them? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

  6. Cheers for the quick reply's guys. The battery is pretty old and not in the best nick. Been contemplating replacing it since i bought the boat last year. I got a mate tomorrow coming around to have a look at the battery and electronics as it sounds like thats probably the issue and he is a sparky and is into fiddling with boats. Once again thanks heaps guys!

  7. Hey guys have had my tinny for just over a year now and have certainly enjoyed it so far. Been taking it out almost every week once if not twice. With the cold weather sometimes the 40 hp mercury had a few issues ( took a few minutes to get her going) but the other day something different happened. As i was turning the key in the ignition the engine was making the same noise as usually but the speed of the starting noise slowed. I stopped and waited a few minutes and gave it another crank and the same thing but it got slower. Tried it one more time till it almost came to a halt. Ive left it the past week as ive been busy with uni exams but today opened up the engine and had a look while starting it. The large cog ( for lack of a better word. I obviously know very little about mechanics) would only rotate once every 3 seconds or so. Was just curious as to whether any experienced raiders out there know if this is a battery problem or a starter problem. If its a battery or electrical problem ide be able to get it sorted pretty quickly and get back out there chasing jews otherwise i might have to wait till i can get enough money to get the engine sorted. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers Cam

  8. Definitely. Find the deep holes in the estuaries during winter and you generally find the big flatties or jews. Some of my biggest crocs have come during the middle of winter. Numbers will usually be down, but the quality will be very good. Batemans Bay offers some very good drummer fishing, as does Moruya. Just be mindful of the MPA.

Let me know if you head down. I'd be happy to catch up and point you in the right direction.

Cheers for all the help Hodgy, Much appreciated! Will certainly send you a pm if we struggle to find the fish. Hopefully will have some good reports for the fellow raiders soon.

  9. Both destinations can produce good results during the colder months. At that time of year, water temps in those sytems will be pretty low. (Tuross dropped to 8 degrees last Winter). There is usually some entertaining beach fishing in both places, predominately for salmon or tailor, although some big bream often feature as a bi-catch. Slow your retrieve rate down, downsize your lure choice and you may be pleasantly surprised what you find!

You may find Shoalhaven and Mallacoota more productive at that time of year? Good luck wherever you decide. Time spent fishing with mates is a great trip away!

Cheers for that hodgy. Would it be worth fishing the esturies around then unting for flatty or the odd jew or will they be far and few between?! Will also be keen for some drummer fishing off the rocks if we can find a good spot and the weather allows

  10. Wanting some advice on whether to fish Tuross head or Narooma this coming June. Every year me and my mates head south fishing/surfing/camping and we are for the most part complete novices. We usually manage to snag a few salmon bream flathead drummer and what have you from the rocks near bawley but we want to try somewhere new. Have read up and these two places, Narooma and Tuross, and both seem perfect for our first trip down with a couple of tinny's. Any Advice would be much appreciated!

    Cheers

  11. Headed put Tuesday morning for the first time in a month due to overseas expeditions. Decided to troll from tge spit to balmoral as had found plenty of bonito and tailor there last time I was out. Within a minute of the lure hitting the water I was on to a nice 42cm bonito! I decided to hurry myself up and get myself some yackas to drop at some of the markers later as i approached balmoral jetty I saw a land based fisho hook a nice little salmon so I had to oblige and have a cast. 1st cast and I was on to a 49 cm tailor which was followed to the boat by 10-15 rats that kept trying to pinch the lure from him. Tried to burly some yackas up for no result so trolled to middle head and hooked another 3 bonito in twenty minutes followed by my second king ever and first on lure. Only went 58cm but was good fun on light gear. Will post a pic when i work it all out. Good to be back on the water!

  12. lately I have been catching lots bonnies, I reckon they are great to each fresh, bled and iced, I have been told they gun bait.

I have tried them fresh and salted but Ive yet to catch a fish with bonnie bate, can anyone tell how they went.

Ive used it as bait a bunch of times and it always seems to work a treat on bream flathead and even the kings. What have you been aiming to get with it?

  13. Cheers for all the advice guys. After looking around a bit more i think im leaning towards the lowrance elite 5 dsi fishfinder and chartplotter. Does anyone have one or has anyone heard anything about how they go? Also how handy is the chartplotter function as there are similar models ive looked at $300 cheaper just without the chartplotter. Cheers

  14. Hey guys, wanting some advice as to what sort of sounder I should be getting for my tinny. Have finally got some money together so will be picking one up in the next month. We usually fish inside the heads as my boat is only 14ft and I have no epirb. Looking at spending around 700-900 and was wanting something useful instead of an expensive toy. any help would be greatly appreciated as I have no clue.

    Cheers

  15. Have only started getting properly into fishing in the past few months. Am yet to break my Kingy duck and was wondering what the best way to go about getting my first king on light gear is. My tinny is yet to have a sounder installed so I can't search around for the bait schools like I would like to yet. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
