  1. Can get Gal RHS easily so I think I will go with that, then just coat the bits that get cleaned and welded.

I called a local trailer place earlier this week to get a price on a axle, hubs and springs.

He said if the boat and trailer weigh over 750kg the trailer will need brakes to be legal, now I have been looking and asking around and have not found one trailer carrying a similar or bigger (16' etc) that has brakes fitted.

My brothers 17' Haines Hunter's trailer doesn't have brakes and that would be way heavier then my boat.

Has the rules changed or is this guy full of it??

  2. Up near the power lines in Wagonga is always good for Jews. Bream on the leases are standard.

I always drop into complete Angler and have a word to them about what's doing.

Also look up Narooma news online and read latest fishing reports which are spot on.

Fishbermi.com/reports has some good reports now and then on esturies.

Get some oysters locally to add to your meal. They are awesome.

Awesome mate thanks for the reply.

    Will look at that now.

    Cheers

  3. Got this little baby home yesterday, the ad said it comes without a trailer but ended up taking home trailer bits from the frame with rollers and what looks like a near new winch.

The hull looks pretty solid but does need some small repairs,is a front steer still fitted with all the cables but no motor.

    Heres a couple of pic's

First thing I want to do is get it on a trailer so I'm going to start buying bits to make one (thanks to the advice you guys gave me in this thread)

    More photos to follow

  4. OK so today I'm picking up a 15' Fiberglass Hull minus a outboard and trailer (woo hoo)

So I'm thinking the first thing I want to do is make a trailer for it so I have a few more questions.

What size RHS would you use?

    Should I make it tilt?

I'm thinking single axle with 14" Commodore wheels/tyres as I already have a pair with good tyres here but I also want to try and make it so the hull sits on the trailer fairly low to make it easier to launch and put make on the trailer.

    Cheers

  5. Went out on the boat yesterday, started at Tuross Heads for the first half of the day.

Had the burley out and was using pilly's prawns and squid but barley got any bites most of the time we were out.

We were moving around a bit and had the fish finder running but still nothing.

After 1pm we moved to Moruya to tray our luck there and only hooked up two flatties (one undersized and thrown back) and a nice Bream.

Once again on the same bait and burley.

Usually the fishing is good at Tuross, there were plenty of boats out there and it seemed the others were having as about as much luck as us.

    But I guess that's fishing. :)

  6. Hey all

A mate and I are thinking of taking the Tinnie out for a fish this Sunday, usually we head out to the South Coast (The Bay, Moruya...)

Any of you guys heard what's biting and where around the area?

Any hints and tips would be great!

  7. You dont need a engineered certificate, however.. when you are ready for rego you will need a weighbridge ticket, a blue slip and a compliance plate..

The plate can be obtained from a RTA office at a small charge.. about $25 I think they will also give you a VIN number to be stamped on the plate.. Sometimmes a caravan or trailer place can do all of this for you at a charge.. just check it all oout.. Try to keep the wieght down under 250kg's without the boat.. and you will never need a pickslip for rego again.. just pay the renewal every year with no inspection

Sounds simple enough, thanks for the info.

  8. Yeah mate I used to buil all types of trailers.. it is not that hard at all mate.. what do you need to know?

    Cool guys

Is there anything I should know or look out for?

Do they have to be engineered?

Or any hints would be great.

I can weld but not that great so I would just get a mate to help, looking at other trailers it doesn't look that hard so I'm keen to give it a go.

BTW I'm currently building this which I pretty much started from scratch so it has been good practice. :)

  9. Nice work,

A mate and I have been fishing Tuross a fair bit lately, the bits were slow coming but we still went home with some nice flattie and breams.

It's a damn nice area to spend the day fishing to, you just to to watch out for the shallow waters...lol

  10. Thanks for the fast response guys, I might need to have a rethink about the whole thing.

    Cheers

I think I might be in luck, this guy reckons he has what I need but asked if its the round or square handle (he has both)

Is there any way of telling?

I was hoping to get it sorted by the weekend as we are going away to Bateman's to do some fishing.

  11. Hi, that will be a very hard to find part-I do not have anything like that second hand and they were a great little engine being 3 cylinder and went hard, but not a lot were sold. I could help you out with new components but the cost will be high and not sure the engine would be worth doing this too.

    Cheers,

    Huey.

  12. Hey guys, I'm hoping you can help me.

I just bought a 13ft Tinny fitted with a 98 Force 'By Mercury' 25hp outboard that at some point was changed to center consul steer (very badly done to).

I want to change it back to Tiller steer so I'm on the look out for a second hand tiller handle.

Do you guys know of any places that would have such a thing?

Thanks in advance, love the forum and look forward to posting more.

    Cheers

    Chris
