  1. I went to my local tackle joint to see if i could purchase a buzzbait but they were closed went somwhere else

and just had to suffer with a spinnerbait with a white scurt.

snagged him on the rocks under the bridge on 4lb line and snap

gone, went over the other side of the river started there but with my new rod im still not use to it, it has a very sensative fiberglass tip.

tryed a back handed cast with my surfice lure and some how got him stuck in the tree, $23 down the drain in no time.

but out of all that im still looking forward to trying the buzzbait

  2. you make the trouting look fun mate. im in two minds to either get a tinnie or a canoe

either way im going to set them up with sounders and everything else.

mate got to ask hows the difference between the sea water then the fresh water, do you find that you have now

gathered some good knowlidge that may help with salt water fishing.

  3. me my son daughter and wife went down the napean today (easter sunday) for lunch and so me and my son

could also have a quick session, we where sucessfull on our 5th cast, with a nice probley 200mm bass

i was casting paralell to the banks, just about 1 metre out from the weed.

its always a great to see a surfice lure getting smashed.

  4. Glad to hear it wasn't a waste of time Jon.

Sounds like a nice mixed bag & a fun session.

So there you go. Just go for a fish & see how it pans out. Many "experts" have been wrong in their opinion before & will be again. Nothing beats a good or bad days fishing! :biggrin2:

    Cheers,

    Grant.

I couldn't agree more mate, you can never learn to much or not enough

    awesome catch jon well done

  5. awesome stuff mate i havnt done the river in a while i have been trying to get my self down there for the past 3 weekends in a row but somthing always tends to come up, so hopfully saturday i hope il get my chance nice pic's to mate. where abouts in the napean was this court at towards wallacia or richmond.

  6. mate i beg the differ to this point. as far as iv heard that fishing in the hewksbury while raining

that your not going to get hooked up is a mith. also i just checked a local hawksbury river fishing charter report

for the hawksbury. on the report was theres heaps of different fish on the byte samson, bonnies, friget mackrell

big tailor, big flatties, travally. this is the mouth of broken bay and the hawksbury.

all so on the report was said that this costomer said that citres smells put fish off the byte and wd40 so he grabbed it and tested it for him self and pulled in a samson fish, so he said think outside the box.

me mate i wouldnt miss it for the life of me mate

  7. hallo glade things are well. i lost my father just before xmas from a majore heart attack

he was only 50, he had a minor heart attack in august, so please for your loved ones sake and yours

exercise is good for you. in my 30 years on this earth i swear i never seen my dad do a jog or a sporting hobby

after his minor attack i asked him to do a 3 month drinking beer clens to help his heart he said to me after the 3 long necks i bought yesterday. so from my point of view please get well and think of the future. hope to meet you soon fit and healthy

    YOU CAN DO IT

  8. really in the long run there's no use in whinging because there's really nobody listening

every time i have ever gone fishing and seen idiots its normally the same kind of people. but really

the justice for use good fisho's is there probley keeping there catch and taking them home and eating it, just down the road at rhoads is a land remediation ground that had affected the whole of the sydney harbour, cant eat the fish from the bridge back to parra because there very high in iron. has anybody ever court any mutant fish latly around canada bay rhodes gladsville. this is the cause

  9. me mate im a local riff boy mate, havent had much of a chance latly to wet the line mate

going through withdrawels but. i know the normall spots around the river, not really a carp fisher

iv never fished the river from a boat side of life in the river, even know im in the process

of getting a tinnie boat of my own.

its all ways good to meet new people to

  10. mate i find gulps pritty relyable on one pack of scented plastics i court 4 flatties

i had them on a 1/8 weight jig head, also the only thing that pead me off was they would get to mei would pick them up they would shack there head hook would fall out and they would slip out of my hands and gone,

also so another down fall is there tails are pritty long so you always no when tailor are around, it all ways comes back after a good hit from the hook back gone.

  11. mate im the same as you. I am trying to master the art of bream luring, i have relized it relativly easy enough to catch flatties because as they say flatties will hit most lures.

the real challenge to me is the bream catching them on lures.

also with me i have got alot of my knowlidge from, yes wait for it, DVD's

and one of my favourites are from one of our sponsor's south coast fishing charters with scotty lyons and also

gary brown. its called THE JEWEL OF THE SOUTH covers pritty much everything for the beginner to understand

    and get the idear.

  12. awesome job mate.

Im just about to get my self a 11 foot tinnie and didnt want a round bottom one

and thought of this same idear but to see it first hand is just great.

my brother inlaw is a fitter and my mate is a tiler and my other mate is a carpet layer

looks like there will be a few cartons for me to buy thanks for the pics to mate.

  13. Thanks for all the tips guys!

Another question, will fish caught around this area be ok to eat?

Didn't manage to fish this weekend.

Did get some 4kg line though.

    Cheers,

i find that just using a 1/8 weight jig head on fresh green prawns from the local fish market take the head off the prawn and feed the jig head through as you would a soft plastic, there for you have everything, just enough weight to get it out there and no destractions on your rig to spook the fish. i normally land a few bream this way but you can always tell when theres tailor around and time to change to the cromed lures.

  14. hi raiders,

The last few weeks have been a bit rough having my other (fun) car stolen, then a bundle with police assistance :ranting2: over the towing of my vehicle when found cost me around 1000, my results in fishing have also been as rough.

Thought id go out and try catch some of those larger squid at cronulla on monday night. Got some smaller ones which i kept for bait, on the way home stopped at the wonnie top have a sp flick, saw a massive jew on the surface, amongst all the tailor busting up the surface. Flick flick, no interest. Caught a tailor and in a moment of stupidity pulled out a 1/6 jig head with 2/0 hook(the largest i had with me) and sent it out. Well the jewie noticed the distraught tailor and came straight over, it swam next too my bait bumping it with its head on the way past.....then came up from behind it, its going to get it surely, dont know how ill land it but its going to take it. It got to about 6 inches from the bait, inspected it some more then swam away. Sort of glad the jewie didnt want this as i was only armed with a 2500 tierra on a tcurve light rod and 6lb braid. Maybe the shakes from my hands scared it off lol.

Returned tue evening bout the same stage of the tide armed with heavier gear (live fibre rod and shimano baitrunner). There were heaps of tailor, i mean heaps, the water was like a spa bath.....is this the night???? Flicked for a tailor to use as bait which ddnt take too long. Got one easily and sent him out as live bait. No signs on the surface of the jewie though and i was starting to think it wasnt around anymore.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the reel goes. Then Stops. I pick the rod up, engage main drag and strike hard. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz its off again. I immediately run to the other side of the bridge where there is a landing spot on low tide. Im sure thats the one i saw the other night. I start my retrieve and it came pretty easily after those two long runs. It had a third run after it came to the surface, but it was subdued rather easily and just came straight in.

WOOOOOOHOOOOOOOO can i get a woot woot, can i get a woot woot. Measured at 86cm, my pb. Weighed at approximately 5kg cleaned, gutted and all the rest. It means though now i have to catch larger than that. Taken me a little over a year to land one that size, plenty of smaller ones to 70cm but no larger. Finally i have a jewie worth bragging about :biggrin2:

Thanks for listenting guys hope you enjoyed the story as much as i do when i read your posts

    mick

    Awesome catch.

mate just curiouse, where is wonnie tops at.

  15. evening everybody

im new to this site just asking around to see

is it werth the hike down flint and steel track all the way to the bottom

and will i get a nice hook up. iv heared lots about it from boat view but not land base.

last time i missed the sighns that said park close at 8'30 thats just as i started walking down the flint and steel track the clock saying it was 8'50pm so i went half way and you know the rest.

  16. thanks mate

bass pt is already on the agenda soo hopefully i can get myself set up right learn the techniques and catch my self a few bonnies

so how did bass point go mate, couple of weeks ago i seen people pulling bonnies out by the buckets

one of these chicks i seen went to pick the bucket up but couldnt because it was filled with 10 or more

bonnies so this big fellow picked it up and all ready had another bucket in his other hand with the same amount

and this bloke was only 1 of many other people with the same amount.
