  1. Coming from the Murray-Darling district, these pests have always become fertilizer and never released.

However, before you go sticking them in your garden, here's an interesting alternative. A couple of local fishos have found salted carp fillets to be their #1 bait for some very big snapper. These blokes head inland for a week, catch kill and fillet these mongrel pests and convert them into 'baked snapper'. :biggrin2:

    Cheers

That guy off fishing australia was using carp fillets as bait off the house boat in the clyde river, reckoned it was nice and tough to stay on the hook

  2. I've got mine mounted on the curve but have it mounted right on the edge, so this straightens it up a bit, I also have a piece of nylon mounted under the quick release puck, the angle doesn't seem to make a difference but there is a bit of flexing of the aluminium,

I also didn't mount mine right at the nose, so i didn't have to cut the bow rails and also so it fitted in with my windscreen better, and it hasn't seem to make a difference

  3. hi guys

i got the same unit from the states last year. it works well and does everything it is supose to do i use the built in uni maps and that works fine.

the only down side is that the unit works in imperial measurements and can not be changed but you are saving a few hundred dollars and thats a big bonus.

i would recomend buying from the states but on the other hand it is good to support local shops too.

    cheers

I brought a 798 SI from OS, feet isn't a issue, divide by 3, speed , does it really matter how fast your going, temp, I laminated and stuck a conversion next to the sounder, saved $600, and I only fish lakes and rivers so the uni map is fine, no detail on the navionics card for there anyway

  4. I did have another thought on this thunderace (nice name by the way, I used to ride one til a truck pancaked it!).

You'll want to watch the depth of the leg if you have everyone standing on the other side of the boat. If you run it out of the water there's a small chance you could burn the motor out. That could depend on the quality of the motor I guess.

Yep, I still own one, 100K and still going

Yes I reckon I will have to run with the motor as far down as it will go

    Thanks

  5. This what i brought

look up game.valley on e.b.a.y. , 2 x WHITE 48 LED Strip Light For all Style Cars 12V

I put inside a 10mm aluminium channel, and double sided tape to underneath the gunnells

I also built a dimmer for the LEDs as they are very bright at full strength

the two photos at the bottom doesn't show the true extent of the dimming

  6. I'm buying a Minn Kota for the front of my runabout (with windscreen), below there are two option for mounting,

The second one allows me to keep both bow rails and it is also easier to release (as it's less distance to learn over) obviously this method will put the motor a bit further off centre, is this a issue ?????,

    Thanks

  7. Thanks for responses.

Thunderace - So that would require an engineers certificate?

After going thru the process of trying to uprate a hull, unless the manufacturer will do it, NO CHANCE, and I doubt the manufacturer will want anything to do with it either. I was only talking about 5hp difference !!!

  8. I've just installed the same sounder, the only the 2nd photo shows the correct perspective, from this one its pretty close to the manual, that said, it isn't hard to move it and give it a run

Also I notice that you don't have the rubber plug that goes in the bracket, it stops th bloody big rooster tail, I need a bit of oil to slip mine in
