  1. G'day raiders,

I've got a week booked in south west rocks with my fishing club in November doing 4 charters. What I'm curious about is whilst I'm not on the boats what will be around I'm planning on fishing under the gaol a couple times with some livies just wondering what's all your thoughts and suggestions on what I should be targeting and where..

    Any suggestions greatly appreciated

  2. Hi Raiders,

thinking about spending an overnight on avoca beach this weekend and then spending the day on the rocks as both spots are one of my favourite haunts, haven't been in a couple of months due to the birth of my son so just curious as top what's been biting up that way. having the pass to go and it being club comp weekend wouldn't mind spending some time in that lovely corner of the world.

    thanks in advance.

  3. Far as I'm concerned trout fall same category as carp, redfin, tilapia and any other introduced species.. They're not native. On some level they're causing damage regardless of minor or major.

  4. Mate if you do manage anything at the moment I'd consider myself lucky... The water is filthy from all the rain a d there would just be too much fresh hanging around.. If I were you I'd head into pittwater and try the jetties around there

  5. Fished there Saturday with a mate for big fat 0's bloke walked past us early in the morning I asked him how he we t he said no good then I noticed the rod holder in his pack asked him if he was baiting he said nah.. I'm calling bullshit on that.. First time we've fished there but we'd definitely like to go back

  6. Hi raiders, me and a mate of mine are heading to thomsons creek dam for the first time this coming Saturday, I know there are some raiders here that frequent the area and I'm just asking for some general info tips or tricks in the area? A y particular lures or colours that are better than others??

Any info guys would be greatly appreciated

    Tight lines brett

  7. G'day raiders,

Fished the hawkesbury from midnight Friday, started off at Juno point awaiting the top of the tide in the freezing cold and the wind the results of the first spot were less than good with a number of port Jackson's and eels and catfish caught, really not the target species but mr Jew was nowhere to be found :( so I decided to make a move to the F3 road bridge at around 2.30 in the morning to escape some of the wind and see if I couldn't find mr Jew with my ever diminishing squid baits, anchored up put my 2 rods out and heated up the burner and had a cup of soup with no action happening I cracked out my lil 1-3kg outfit with 4lb braid and put on some 8lb leader with a pea size sinker and a small hook with a pillie cube and cast it into the Eddie behind one of the pylons trying to extract a bream or two, first few casts no interest then I got a nice lil bream of 28cm quickly released him and rebait and cast then one of the Jew rods gets a big hit so I put the small rod down to wait for a conversion but after 5 mins no more hits so back to the small rod I went.... Picked up the rod to notice serious weight originally thought snag.. I was wrong.. Line screamed off my lil symetre reel after 25 minutes and some great one handed net work I managed to boat my biggest flathead to date measuring 81cm and to boot I got her on the really light stuff that made it really special, I was over the moon.. After a couple quick photos the big girl swam away to fight another day.. If anyone was fishing in the hawkesbury early Saturday morning and heard someone yell woohoo! No it wasn't a yowie it was me :)

After that I waited till sunrise and trolled out the front of barrenjoey for 2 frigates and 3 bonnies so all in all a pretty slow night fishing but that 1 fish made all the cold and lost sleep so worth it

I'd also like to submit my fish for COTM

Thanks for reading raiders and right lines cheers Brett

  8. Mines been updated and it's not even my fish.. My wife's father handed her down his rod from when he was her age (23) and her goal was to catch a fish with it. Being an 11 foot rod I took her rockfishing with it and after a great battle and great determination from my wife she landed a 10kg longtail tuna with her dads rod.. Now the rod is retired mounted on the wall along with a photo of her fish.. Great memory

  9. Might have found yourself a population of groper those things pull like freight trains and can turn up anywhere but for them to hit a lure you would really have to upset them lol.. I'd be goin with stewie and say a cod or there was a few Jew about

  10. The stones are in the same location as "up the river" and "in the bay" or "out the heads" ha ha ha

Great fish there too, I'm actually leaving the boat at home this weekend and putting my rock hopping gear back into service
