  1. Hi raiders,

recently caught this guy in nepean river, different with the bass or ep i caught before.

This one has smaller mouth and flat tail, not like bass or ep has fork tail.

Let it go after took the photo.

Can anyone give me any ideas what kind of fish is this?

  2. Hi Raiders,

This is my first post, and hopefully not my last.

I left home at 4am and arrived at Lithgow at 6:10am. My first stop was McDonalds, for a quick bite before heading out. I later found out that the sandwiches my lovely wife made the night before, I had left at home.

I usually fish Cox’s river at the Rydal access point. However, with Lake Lyell at 100%, the part of river I use to fish is now a lake.

After a short drive, I arrived at my first access point at Hartley around 7am and proceeded to walk downstream. There were no signs of fish, so I decided to rig up a nymph and fish the bubble line. After about an hour, I came across a deep pool and saw at the corner of my eye, the first signs of fish.

It was a fish rising further downstream. I repositioned myself and tied on a homemade Royal Wolf. After 2/3 drifts, my fly was engulfed and I was on. After several short runs, out came a fat, healthy little rainbow. She measured 34cm and went back into the drink to fight another day.

I continued to walk down stream, but failed to see any further signs of fish. It was just after noon when I got back to the car, and decided to try one more spot.

I had just enough time to fish Sandy Hook for a couple of hours as I promised to be home before 5pm. After hiking 2km downstream, the weather changed for the worst and the rain started moving in. There were no signs of fish so I packed up and called it a day.

Hi caddis, I went to Cox's river on Friday, saw some fish jumped out of water, but didnt get any hit.

    Beautiful rainbow, nice work mate!

  3. Managed to land some 50cm+ Browns at TCD on Christmas eve on soft plastics. Lyell, as mentioned is full and looks great but if you go on the weekend it's full of water skiers. As for the streams, the Coxs River and Fish river will have plenty of fish.

    Matt

Thank you mate, i dont really like water skiers, .

By the way, i dont know where to get down to the Coxs River?

    Eric

  4. Fishing Report:

Because didnt catch anything, just post a report here.

Used tassie in the morning, nearly got a nice brown, followed the lure to the bank, and saw some real big rainbows.

Unfortunately lost my wallet :1yikes: on Saturday, so went to the dam again early morning today (nearly hit a Kangaroo), but happy endding, one nice guy got my wallet, and called me :1prop: ...

No fish sad Saturday and happy Sunday evening.

Good luck to all good fishraiders :biggrin2:

  5. Hi Eric,

Thommos is one of the hardest dams to fish and there are days when nothing you have in your tackle box will induce a strike.

Once the little buggers get the urge to spawn it can be nigh impossible to get a hit.

On your question on tassies, the pink colour with the black stripes has worked on many occassions on Thommos trout and the trick is to cast as far as you can and let them hit the bottom and commence a slow retreive all the way back to your feet with just enough speed to feel the side to side action of the tassie devil

Celtas are also good on Thommos trout in the largest size in red/gold combo.

    Cheers Stewy

thank you for you reply, any other dam good?

  6. Hello all raiders, i've been thompson creek dam few weeks ago, and didnt catch any, so anyone can give me any ideas how to use the tassie devil and in winter which color is the best?

what the action is right when tassie in the water?

    thank you!
