  1. Thanks for all the positive comments guys

JonD - after speaking to couple guys that's what i've decided to do, meat has now been cut up and shared amongst family and friends, i had some last night it was pretty good.

New Signing - Measured from tip of the bill to the middle of the tail, the bill on this fish was quite small for the size of it as my mate who was the skipper caught one a few weeks back which was a smaller fish and had a larger bill. Also, this fish was quite thick, 420mm width and 230mm thick - once again only an estimate as the one my mate caught was smaller and he had it weighed at 79kg.

    Cheers

    Ivan

  2. Hi Fishradiers,

Been a while since i've posted.

Went out wide off Sydney on Saturday with a close mate of mine, first time i've ever fished for Marlin and i managed to hook and land my first fish on my first outing.

    Length 2.2m - weight approx 80kg-90kg.

Caught with Stella 18000 and Saltiga popping rod

Kept the fish and it's getting moulded and hung in my man cave.

We also caught few dollies, many were undersize but had a few keepers.

All credit goes to my mate, without him i wouldn't have caught.

    Till next time, tight lines.

    Cheers,

    Ivan

  3. Hi,

Last Friday night went fishing down south after work, We fished off HMAS Creswell in JB not far from Murrays beach.

The night started slow, Plenty of bait around yakkas, slimeys and squid. Caught several Port Jackson sharks and lost what we believe was a 1m jewfish which was hooked on live slimey.

It was a strange night, saw a pod of dolphins, a very big seal which almost took our livey and caught one of the biggest cuttle fish I've ever seen in the flesh.

Anyway's hope everyone else that went fishing actually caught fish.

    Cheers,

  4. Hi Big Berg,

Well i've got a Wilson FSU5120 10-20kg rod with a Shimano Saragosa 14000f with carbontex upgrade, it's quite a heavy set up, but very good if you hook up to something big.

    Hopefully this helps.

  5. I've caught several near the mouth, As Fezza said most of the time you have to cover quite a bit of area until you find them, But i usually catch mine during the run out right near the mouth.

Last one i caught there was with a 30cm live whiting and that fish went just over 16kg.

Another good bait is live tube worms, Feed the worms up your trace, I've caught several jewies off that, but majority would be around 5-8kg.

Anyways hope this helps. Good Luck

  6. Hi Incredible Hull,

I was there just last week, Not much fish around at the moment anyways. When i arrived there were pods of dolphins, A whale right near the breakwall and also seals hanging around. No fish caught lol.

I was just wondering did they have a sign advising when it would be re-opened again ? As i was going to head down friday morning.

    Thanks Mate,

  7. Hi Mick,

I use hardbody lures for catching jewies, but i mainly do it off breakwalls and the rocks so my set up is quite heavy, I use Daiwa Saltist 9'6" rod 60lb rating rod matched with Shimano saragosa 14000 with 50lb line, Only reason i use this outfit is because i've lost several fish on lighter gear, but i can still cast a mile with that set up, Usually use Killalure Jewy 150 and a few different rapala's.

Guessing you will be fishing off a boat and if you'll be using the Sol, I would probably match it with a TD SOL II rod or something similar.

    Hope this helps.

    Good Luck Mate

  8. Hi buddy,

i know the bushy part your talking about, You can walk down through the bush on the bottom there is a rock, It's a very good spot if your willing to trek down the hill through the tree's. on the other side is chowder bay.

    anyways hope that helps.

    good luck

  9. Hey Guys,

This is my first post, i've been reading this forum for several years now and thank everyone with their useful information as it has helped me catch plently of fish, especially helping me crack the jewie code where i can catch them on a regular basis now.

I'll be heading up to copacabana (central coast) this weekend, we've got a beach house right on the beach up there. Just wanted to find out how the fishing is up there as i would like to wet a line and hopefully catch some fish, any information would be helpful for example roughly where abouts to fish, bait needed, etc..

I'd like to catch anything from bream, flatties, salmon, tailor or if lucky a jewie, I've fished up the coast for several years but mainly at the entrance where i've caught plenty of jewys off north entrance beach.

    Thanks guys,
