  1. Hmm any particular color you are all using...I have heard that depending on the color sometimes there are bad batches..something to do with dye, cannot remember which color it was though.

Post your color, we might be able to find some commonality.

  2. i know this sounds like a stupid question to most peopl but is it better to have a mono leader on the end of braid main line??

Not a stupid question at all, I am pretty new to the breamin scene myself, and still ask many many questions, asking questions is the only way to get to know what you need to know.

From what Ive learnt around the various sites, I use a flurocarbon leader, tied on to the braid via a uni to uni knot.

  3. Well,

Headed out to PArsley Bay Ramp, getting there about 640am, headed down the road looked like a big queue, but it was a few cars/boats deciding whether or not to go out in this wind, rain.

My bro and I decided to give it a shot, we could just find a bay somewhere if it got to windy, so got the boat ready, put on my plastic outfit and launched the boat.

As it turns out the rain stopped for a bit on the way out, headed over to Flint and Steel for a drift, we ended up not really drifting at all, got no fish for an hour or 2, got a few light showers though nothing to bad.

Ended up heading to the opposite side of the water, over to the west where the wash breaks, tried for a few, we got our first double hookup of a snag! :1naughty: , anyway so moved from there a few meter out and decided to drop the anchor and burley.

Well, my bro was the first to pull a decent whiting, nice sice of about 28cm, then pulled a bream of about 26cm, Then it was my turn to hookup, got a nice whiting of about the same size, then hooked up a nice bream of about 29cm, fought well to, ended up with another 3 bream from this spot, and a couple rays which were thrown back.

We ended up getting 5 bream of legal size in total, with 2 whiting in this spot.

Fish went off the bite around 1030am so headed over to the creek, no fish no bites, nada.

Wind picked right up so decided to pack it in and head back.

All in all urned out to be a great fish considering the weather, and a pretty even split in the feed stakes. :1clap:

    Have some pics to come.

    Cheers

    Dan

  4. Thinking about purchasing a sounder/fishfinder/GPS from the US and this particular one is in imperial, ie feet and mph.  Do you think that because they only read in imperial that would be a big issue here?  Iv'e got a rough idea of the imperial/metric conversion rate.

    cheers and thanks again,

    Narra

I don't think it would a problem at all, just a matter of personal choice, I looked at getting a sounder from the US but did not want to have to convert temperature, depth, speed etc.

Although Lowrance and Eagle sounders have both metric and imperial in built, not sure about warranty claims though.

  5. Ahh, Great!, Thanks Guys...

I was beginning to think just stick with the cheap $100 or so rods.

My confidence has been restored, as I have never had a very high modulus rod before was a bit worried about getting one if they were going to break easily.

  6. Have noticed recently a few people have broken their rods, now my Bday is coming up and I will most likely get a new quality rod and reel of some sort.

So....was wondering If I got something with a very high modulus graphite count that had a rating of 2-4kg and caught something like a big kingy or trev on it, is it likely that the rod would snap? ie..like djmacs post, or would that have snapped due to the way the fish ws being fought, drag settings etc.

Don't want to get a hgh quality rod if its going to snap with a big by catch or something.

    Thanks! :biggrin2:

  7. Thanks,

Went out there today to try to get some flatties, there were only all undersize ones, got a couple flounder though, a kingfish swam right on by the boat, didn't want my prawns though. , saw some guy catch a mac tuna on pilchards, I have get some heavier gear and float some yakkas around out there, see if I can pick anything up.

Also managed a few nice size bream over near flint and steel, dinner for tonight and tomorrow...mmmm

  8. some nice looking flaittes there rick.. bet you had a nice feed to,, well done

    Cheers Dave C

Nice fish, I am heading out there tomorrow, was out that way on Friday got a couple flathead and one bream.

Not near the size of those though, which side if heading toward lion island from Parsley bay is the eastern?...left or right?

  9. Thanks All,

I will most likely just go to ABA, they are just down the road for me...

Mick, if you read this what sort of Rod could I pick up for about $150.

    Thanks.

  10. Hi,

Ordered some hardbodies off of ebay, received them the other day, look quite nice actually in the flesh, 40mm and 32mm.

The problem is the trebles on them some of the points are rounded, no matter how hard you stick it into your finger it wont even go in. :1yikes:

So where can I get some new trebles for these, approx how much each do they cost.

  11. Well after pricing all the fixing and motors and all that on my bro's boat. Have conned the missus into letting me buy a bream boat.

This is where you guys come in  :biggrin2:

Having never "owned" my own boat.. I want one I can launch myself, has casting decks, etc etc.. pretty much something that could be taken in an ABT would be cool. But of course not as ritzy as some of them  :tease:

I am looking at new to start with, unless price gets too out of hand, with at least 2 seats.. would love side console, but ones I have seen new go for way more than budget.

Any ideas appreciated.. it will be for estuary, and crossing into pittwater hawkesbury etc... plus road trips to glenbawn, and many other areas.

Not really looking at the family option as much anymore, but something I could if needed stick 1 or 2 extra removable small fold up chairs would be good.

I have a mate of a mate selling a side console... for about $9,000 but haven't seen it yet.. will get some pics and specs of it this week, and you guys can give me the lowdown.

    Cheers,

    Coasty

What is your budget BTW?, this may help a bit in aiding us to make some suggestions.

  12. headin off to brooklyn on saturday for some lovely fishing tryin squidgies for the first time see how i go... what about you ken??

    41001[/snapback]

Not sure if Brooklyn would be a good pick to try out SPs this weekend lesta, the bream comp is on in the Hawkesbury, will be bloody crowded id say, especially with 79 boats just in the comp. :1fishing1:

As for what I am doing on the weekend, not much, my turn on call for work, but on Sunday will go watch the weigh ins for the comp.

  13. Hey Joe,
