  1. the high viz ones are for when you throwing lures around snags/trees , the multi colored ones change colours every ten meters so you know how how much line to let out! say jigging for kings and you can see there 80 meters down on the sounder,,but honestly i don't think it really matters if your using clear leader, what colour your using, i like the grey/green

  2. me and a few mates used to do this style of fishing all the time ! on a alot of well populated beachs(central coast) ,weve hooked big sharks on sun set with surfer still in the water and not useing burely alot of the times!! good fun!

  3. yer hi guys looking for a new boat ,have a 10 hour 40 2 stroke mercury ready to roll so looking at hull only in the 435 or close to range(as mentioned in title). with prices varying alot for very similar hulls and was thinking of decking/fitting myself? but maybe just better to buy already done, just after a few opinions .. cheers phill

  4. the caravan park on main beach is a top spot!!!its been awhile and cant think of the name but very affordable and very friendly !!the fishing up there is second too none ,,my favorite spot ,,good luck,,phil

  5. yer hi Roberta, pulled it out today its called a wonder pole (shakespear) 20ft, has like 6 pull out sections! sea were a little large today to get some weed , so give it a crack tomorrow and post results!! have 10ft 1wrap with old wood Alvy but just want to scare a few of the old timers for a bit of a laugh, plus it looks it will be alot of fun ! who knows it might catch on,,, phill

  6. was shown this a few years back by a fellow chief!

.one mud crab 1.5kg is good

.4 pack bundaberg ginger beer(enough to cover crab)

    .2 whole star anise

    .1/4 inch peace young ginger

    .1 small cinnamon stick

    .1 eschalot, (small red onion)

    .few coriander seeds crushed

add all ingredients apart from crab bring to the boil turn down and simmer, have a few cups of jasmine rice on the go(rice cookers good)!!, crack body ,nippers on crab add and simmer for around 15/20 minutes

,pull crab out and allow to sit, take 500 mils of the cooking liquor and reduce in a fry fan with a large finely dice red chilly and half bunch of coriander!!

serve crab on rice with juice poured over !!! YUM

a fair effort but well worth it ,

i recommend a nice bundy rum to go with this lol, enjoy phill

  7. yer had a mate end up in hospital of one of these suckers! i know when i catch one of these its time to move on or go home cause there's nothing else around, eel, ray, one of these,,,lets GO!!!

  8. yer funny last time i went to bali just hired bikes and rocked up at jimbyron on day ,bartered my way on a boat and went out on some rickety old punt looking thing

,drove for what felt like 4 hours before he stopped at some random looking spot and pulled out some old hand lines and a bag of fish scraps and i guess it was time to fish ! after pulling up 5 different fish species that were apparently all "red snapper" I'm like even this leather jacket looking thing lol! the young boy deck hand throw up and we started the long drive back lol

all in all was a good experience ,cost like 10 bucks and the kid and the dad were stoked with there feed for the night ,,, great times lol

  9. the ocean is the the go!! go to any rock platform at dead low ,bingo! its there you just have to find your patch , once you know where it is you can harvest at nearly any tide! good luck phil,

  10. don't really know the area you speak of, but over the years Ive noticed no growth at all to massive growths ! more of a local conditions thing in estuarine systems then anything else in my opinion! that's why i always hit the ocean rocks for good weed then take it to the river, once you find a good stop i rarely share as it will be stripped with in days!!! good luck phill

  11. yer the old hand real and mullet strip cant go wrong !!! we always have 3 /4 set up, just old beach fish line, 20 pound or what ever with just a small ball sinker straight to a 5/60 long shank when fishing for other stuff,,the random nice schooly, big Flathead or big bream are just a bonus too when crabbing!!!there full of meat at the moment (before they shut down)

last one we got was 1.8kg and loaded, but its real late in the season and i haven't had one in the last 2 weeks! that's fishing 3 times a week in this style! few blues still round but.. good luck phill

  12. I used to fish Nth Avoca off the rocks (where the platform washed in a few years ago) for huge Taylor and Salmon, but now I fish around Broken Bay and Box Head

Would be interested to see now Terrigal lagoon is open if there are any jewies or big Noah's hanging out waiting for a feed- I might give it a try Friday am up in Narara in the morning might drop a line in on the way home in the arvo on the dropping tide

How is the swell up there??? I was out on Nthn Beaches yesterday and its 6-8foot and like a washing machine- really brown and mad sucky shoreys was hard to cast out to the gutters and hold bottom with a strong Sth current running 4-6 knots, even with snapper leads was hard work I left after an hour got soaked!

PS- if anyone is interested in dangling a line up that way I go to CC every weekend and fish aftenoon and nights.

    Cheers

    Anthony
