We had a slow day on the bay too trying everything. We did a drift near lapa and hit two good flat heads and 3 good flounders in 40mins then nothing again. 40cm flounder was the biggest ive court to date.

I was thingking the same thing yesterday when i put the charger on which was a hard job due to batteries position. I will be interested to see what people have to say..

Hey Mick,
Were the 3 guys in a white centre console?
We burleyed a bit, we used bread and water and bled the first salmon into the mix as well.
We have a lot of hook ups but because we were actually trying to get yakkas on size 10 hooks we kept getting busted off. The fish woiuldn't touch the bait with the bigger hooks or bait. Though I did land a sambo with a pilchard on a gang slowly released into the burley trail. The only thing that took my live yakka was a barracouta? I think thats what it was. Kinda like a hairtail only shorter and shorter teeth?

Where the 3 guys in the white Centre Console Eating Pizza Hut Pizza for Morning Tea.. They where burley up plenty too and had plenty happening..

An old saying goes; 1020 & the fish are plenty....
That's easy to remember.
So 1020 is higher than 1005. I was under the impression high barometric pressure was bad for fishing.? Is that correct.?
-
* Home - checked barometer (1005) No wonder.
So i take it Barometer reading of 1005 isnt a good thing. what would be deemed as good for fishing..?

Very nice catch there. I drove over cooks river bridge at Brighton today about 2:15pm and reckon I seen you guys down there. Would you have been near the bridge at that time. Looks like the boat I seen and had 2 crew members aboard when I was going to pickup from the airport.

I used a small tackle box but I got sick of it always been under my feet some in the boat so I lashed out and brought a 5 draw locker. Great thing.

Hey guys, I've done a search and found one in rosebay, first time I went he said it was going to get too windy, then I went about a month ago and he said they're all stuffed and he won't be fixing them until summer. does anyone know any others apart from boab? my mate has a boat license but i want to hire something small so I can get some experience, cheers in advanced!
tmz.
I've seen them in the Georges River with Como Marine Boat Hire spray painted down the side. Try that.:-)

Was chatting to a chap today that has been fishing Botany Bay for the last 30 years. He just randomly said he has caught many bull sharks over those years. So i guess if there in the bay they can just wonder up the Georges real easy.

If you can get the barrel out and take it to them it will cost a heap less then them comin out to you. Goodluck, Let us know how you go as i wouldnt mind a spare key for mine.

Thanks for all the warm welcome and a big thanks to all the people that have messaged me offer to show me the ropes.. I will be taking you guys up on those offers as i want to learn all i can.
Can someone show me where i can find some info on basic rigs for chasing flathead & Bream/Snapper in the bay or goerges. Maybe even some ideas on bait.?

Welcome to FR - these are the friendliest people. There are so many with an abundance of knowledge & more than willing to share. I am looking forward to your first post to brag about your latest catch.
Cheers guys, Ive had a very warm welcome so far. I cant wait to do some bragging too. I will have to try a few differant rigs and spots over the next few weeks. Ive just rigged the boat up with Deck lights yesterday so when the weather turns good again ill give this night fishing a go.
Any spots that i should try and with what please feel free to advise.

Hey Guys,
Been lurking around these forums for a few weeks now and it seems like a rather nice place to hang out.
Well ill start with the simple stuff. My name is Jason and im 32yo and live in Sylvania in Sydney. About 6 months ago i decided to take up a new sport and get into fishing. i have Always liked it but have never really done much in my time and if i did it was nothing serious at all. I went out and brought myself a late 80s Haines Hunter V17R with an old Johnson 110HP. Its been a nice old boat and im really looking forward to catch some nice fish. I done really know much at all except the last 6 or 7 times we have hit the water we have come home with No fish more times than we have come home with anything. I dont have a fish finder on the boat yet and i do have a burley bucket and all the enthusiamise in the world.
I am looking for any tips at this stage as i have a world of learning ahead of me. Im a very easy pleaser and would be happy if i only came home with one or two just legeal breams. Im after basic tips of any sort that will help me with Rigs, baits, burley, locations and even what conditions to go out in(ie, tides). Im not looking to be a pro or anything and im not worried what sort of fish i catch but i would like to take something home for the dinner table. The fish shop on the way home seems to be the usual at the rate im going. I usually launch the boat at the Hole in the wall off Hawkesbury Esp Sylvania waters and we have been using bread for burley and prawns and octopus for bait.
Any tips and hints anyone can provide me will be muchly appreciated.
Cheers
Jason

In most cases bag limits aren't an issue(not in this case). Undersized fish is a big issue though. I've been fishing in botany bay and use the hole in the wall ramp at Sylvania and have never been checked be fisheries. They need to out more in peoples faces. It is getting harder to find bigger fish now so it's obvious they are not getting the chance to grow.
