  1. Congrats on your first plastic reddie, many more to come as it can be very addictive.. :biggrin2:

Thanks Ray. i am definately hooked, every chance i get on a invite i will be there as i don't own a boat, feeling was better than you now what the old saying is.

  2. Can't argue with that mate, tis a nice lil guy. I love fishing for snapper on SP's,, I have most luck in the squidgy 110mm pilly flick bait and gulp 5" jerk shads (nuclear chicken is my fave in the gulp range for snapper).

Excellent work and I am sure it is the first of many to come :).

Thanks for the tips mate, i will be stocking up on my SP.

  3. Got a call at night from Pete my mate to go down south and get some snapper, which was last week. While i was rigging up and getting my gear ready i also rung my mate cg for some tips since i have never done this type of fishing before. Tem of the water was still a bit high they say for snapper but had a great day with Pete and landed my first Snapper on soft plastics which i was over the moon about it.

  5. His still doing the rounds, left no squid for the rest of us :biggrin2:

I hear you do alright to when it comes to squid:biggrin2: but why don't you mention his name:thumbup:

  6. Good effort buddy. Someone good gives you a helping hand is always effective. Comes to think about it, there used to be a guy that's on fishraider a lot he used to nail them squids. Haven't seen a report from him in ages.

Thats because he has been banned from the site if it is the person i think you are talking.

  7. Went out today and just targeted squid for a feed and stock up for the jew sessions. Thanks to me mate for giving me his tinny for the day and the tips. Nagged him all day on the phone when things got tuff, i reckon he thinks like a squid, was on the money every time. Hopfully some jew photos soon.

  8. Went for a Jew run tonight with alot of small jews around which were released but glad to put a 80cm in the esky. Night was very cold and called it a night. Plenty of livies around but the fresh squid was more effective tonight as we caught two large squid before it got dark.

  9. WOW, that's big. Thanks for the info, and I can't wait to see one like that one day . It never ceases to amaze me what you can come across in the ocean.

    Mike

Hi Mike, you can see them at night at Browns mountain. They come around the bout especially with lights on and if you are burling, what you eill see is white flashes darting around the boat and these squid are over a meter long.

  10. Wow what a catch. Have never targeted squid in the bay. The only problem is the illusive area these bad boys hang around. Any help will be appreciated. Good Work.

My good mate that takes me just does it every time at different spots, i suppose squiding regular, just has the nak of finding them.

  11. Got out there with my mate for a quick session, managed one legal king 77cm and some monster squid some as big as the king, also two nice cuttles. Pictures not the best as i used a replacement phone till mine gets repaired.

  12. Thanks Pete

I was told to leave the drag loose and wait 10 sec or so, but I think the loose drag was making me loose the fish. will be changing my tatics for next time.

It's always great to hear how other people catch there fish. If you learn just one thing then the info is worth it

    Cheers

    Jim

Don't worry about the loose drag, let the fish hit a brick wall and theres a few jews around at the moment, got a mate that gets quit a few if you are willing to put up with the cold.

  13. A TOP EFFORT, WELL DONE. I HAVE TO ASK WHAT PART OF THE COAST.CHEERS

North side around manly. I don't know if it was the area or this specific day because i could of keeped catching them but i bagged out very quick, or maybe my mate is good at picking spots because he always bags out.

  14. This is my first post which i decided to put on because i have never caught a bag limit on squid. I don't own a boat and all my fishing is land based. The waters are brown from the rains and the squid are not that easy to find. I phoned me mate on friday morning and asked him what he thought about squiding and where he would suggest to go. His reply was to go down or up the coast and find blue water if i was willing to drive 2 hours + tips, well 20 squid @ 12kg was worth the drive after all. Gave half to my mate for the tips and got plenty of squid rings before i have to go again.

  15. I have been squiding at wallys recently and watching the tinnies comming out to the boat ramp at the hacking and they have been cleaning - filletting their fish which have been snapper, kingies and jews. They have been the same 3 or 4 boats all the time that produce, which to me it seems that they are locals and know how to fish the system. Getting some tips from the locals may help on those slow days.
