  1. Hi Guys,

I'm a bit late getting this photo up. Caught this it on Christmas day. Yes, it went back in the drink. We didn't even take it out of the net, so I can't say exactly how big it was. But it was up there! (it's not me holding the net, a mate did the net work!)

We've had a 95cm + before and I think this one may have eclipsed that, but I'm not a great measurer or weigher of fish, I just catch them and let most go.

Bait was whole pilchard, run-in tide, sometime in later afternoon, raining & my senses honed courtesy of Christmas beers.

I'd like to get my hands on some good fresh Hawkesbury squid, but it hard to come by these days.

    all the best

  2. I dropped a very light rig, tiny running sinker straight to a small hook with a morsel of pilchard on it off a wharf at Little Wobby on Sunday morning. To my surprise I caught a 38 cm snapper. I've fished that area for years and never bagged a snapper with any size to it before. Also caught a nice bream around 32 cm. The fishing has been crap for the last 6 months, so to get a couple of nice fish in less than an hour was a treat. They both went back in the drink.

No photos as not hero fish, I heard from a local that a real decent snapper was caught somewhere around Juno too, so there might be a change in the air?

Any others fished the lower Hawkesbury of late?

    All the best

    Ken

  3. Tom,

I fish the Hawkebury very regulary. There were some nice jewies taken last weekend at Little Wobby on both lure and bait. If you are lucky Ian at the baitshop in Brooklyn (a few door down from the Anglers Rest Hotel) will have fresh local squid which he gets form the co-op. You can't beat fresh local squid.

    Good luck with it
