  1. Took the advice above and gave Rodger from Huett's Marine a call regarding a service on my E-Tec.

Like most other busy people out there its hard to fit these things in your schedule when you have to go to work and spare time is in short supply. Rodger fit me in on short notice to drop the rig off over the weekend and had the boat ready for me to pick up first thing in the morning on Monday as promised.

Let me just say that i will definatly be going back there in future, even though it is right out of my way.

Have no problem recommending them, as thats what good quality customer service businesses deserve.

    Thanks Rodger, Cheers.

  2. You shouldnt have any problems with month old fuel if its been stored properly in containers that are specifically designed for the job. Fuel additives are a waste of time, just dont store more fuel than you know you will use within a sensible time. cheers

  3. It will be a slow trip but it will get you there. You will have to allow for any wind and current also as this will slow you down even more. cheers.

  4. Great rods those Live fibers. There was an nice old bloke on Stoney creek rd that use to build fantastic Kingy rods using the Live fiber blanks. Just have to be careful not to nick them to deeply as this can cause them to fail under load. Great to fish with though. Cheers.

  5. 3... 2... 1...

    3 cups corn meal

    2 cups plain flour

    1 cup water

Mix well together, place in a sealed plastic bag... then add to a boiling pot of water for 30minutes it should form a nice pliable dough and you can store it in the fridge for up to a week afterwards

I got the recipe from a south african pro carp angler who does competitions, he reckon its the GUN mix for carp, berley with corn kernels and stale bread.

    Good luck

    Anthony

    :)

Thanks for that, might give that a whirl on the mullet as well. I think they would be all over that kind of blend. Cheers

  6. Just use a small float 1 or 2 split shot and a size 8 hook.

The way i was taught is to use stale white bread that's been dried out in the sun. When you get to your spot just soak a few slices slightly (not soaking wet) and mash that into a clean rag so that you can wring out the excess water. It will leave you with a great dough type of bait that you can mold onto the hook easily and it stays on quite well. Cheers.

  7. The wharf at Darling Point is fantastic. Because you are high above the kelp beds you can see the squid hunting the jig. Exciting stuff for kids and with and awesome city view.

Be sure to note that there is a gate at the back of the park that you can get into park through after the main gate is closed.

    Thanks for the tip, Cheers.

  8. All you need on that sort of budget champ is;

    • a 2-4kg spinning rod i.e. Pfleuger Trion etc
    • a reasonable 1000 to 2500 reel Diawa regal etc
    • 2lb micro-fuse braid (don't worry ... the light stuff's breaking strain is much higher than stated on the pack and it casts a mile)
    • fluorocarbon leader 6 - 8 lb
    • 3" berkley dropshot minnows (any color) and some 1/8 jig heads size 1

Target the shallows were there is plenty of broken patchy ground on a run out tide and you are bound to come across some fair sized specimens.

    Good luck, Cheers
