  1. Went to Coffs to see the family and brought a mate up with me, plan was to head out camping at a near by national park which was right on the beach. We had the double man kayak sitting on the beach and ready for a fish the next morning when the wind had eased, woke up on sunlight and paddled out to a near by island about a 1.5kms off shore. Started drifting whole pilchards down looking for anything that would eat them. 30 minutes in we didn't get many hits until i hooked up on a fish, after a few minutes we got it to the kayak and lifted it up and it was a nice pearl perch!! :yahoo: . Pretty happy with the catch we got the lines back down to try and tempt something else. With no luck and the wind starting to get back up we decided to head in. Overall a quick fun session :sun: went 2 kilos

  2. Hi,

A friend took is boat out last night for a fish even though the weather was ugly. Went down to one of the spots in the harbour, started burlying with some pilchards, trying to catch tailor and trevally as we do with some luck, 30 minutes into fishing we got a good hit and hooked up  fought the fish for around 5 minutes, and to our surprise it was a solid snapper, got the net under him and high fives all round. Was only out for an hour before we decided to head back in due to the weather. The fish went 4 kilos and 71cm. Overall had fun session.post-15794-0-83413400-1372407117_thumb.jpg

  3. Hi Everyone,

My mates and I have always been keen to catch sharks inside sydney harbour and now since it is the school holidays I thought this would be a good time to give it a crack. I'm located on the south side of the harbour so spots around Rose Bay, Watsons Bay are ideal. I was thinking around the beaches at Watsons Bay like Camp Cove and also the rocks around nelson park. The sharks i had in mind were whalers and smaller sharks. Any advice is greatly appreciated, Thanks

  4. Over near the planes is a good spot. There is a great sand and flat with good weed growth. Just about any fresh fish will get you crabs but in my opinion you can not go past fresh mullet.

Cheers man, do you mean between the seaplanes and the catalina restaurant??

  5. Hi,

Living on the south side of the harbour and was trying to get some tips on what the best bait is for blue swimmer crabs and where to go in the harbour. Was thinking of trying around the flats in Rose Bay and maybe even Vaucluse Bay. All help is much appreciated!!

  6. Hi Everyone

went up to coffs harbour for the holidays and thought i may aswell bring the fishing rods up with me.. last night we headed out to the beach at about 5:30pm to try and spin up a few tailor. After 45 minutes of continuous strikes we managed to get one in which went 45 cm. we decided to through out some squid and see if we could tempt a few jewfish onto the line. As time went on we caught a couple more smaller jewies and one wobbegong. With no action for about 20 minutes we got a nice four kilo jew. Followed by a couple more undersized jewfish which went back. Again it all went quiet untill one of the rods starts screaming with line peeling off. After a 10 minute battle we pulled up a great sized jewfish which went 9.2 kgs on the scale. After that nice fish we decided to call it a night

  7. hey raiders

was keen on heading out tommorrow for a fish of the rocks. And was wondering if i would have a chance of casting at some bonito inside sydney harbour??

  8. If there really fussy try going down to a 7 gram sea rock in blue or sometimes they are fixed on pink only and remove the standard silver treble and replace with a black one this reduces the profile of the lure making it appear smaller,And drop leader down to 10 LB flurocarbon as they are very visual. One very big mistake alot of people make is using a snap swivel in front of there lure which means the differance between fish or no fish especially with frigates and bonito etc.

thanks for the advive. have caught bonito on the sea rock lure but could only find them in the pearl white colour

  9. Mate try Nth harbour around Middle heads to cliffton gdns, was out there yesterday & a couple of schools are breaking the surface they are pretty shy of the boat & dont stay in the one place too long hope that helps good luck champ

Little pocket rockets - always fun on light gear! Saw something zooming around the Marina here in Forster today & wondered if it was a Frigate!!
