  1. yep - just noticed winds have picked up. Looks like were not going tomoz :ranting2:

i know were all keen to get out there, but if we go during the week, we'l be one person short and ive already stretched my budget. i cant justify another 100 bucks

if we do manage to get a 5th for a weekday trip - monday is out for me. wed / thurs would be ideal

i think the best thing to do is for me to return your cash. Ive paid the 250 deposit so ill try and lock in another date and start again...

...and yes Stu my wedding plans are in the way. my weekends are booked up for a month from now

Postpone the wedding, I can break the news to your fiance !

Fishing before girly weddings ! :yahoo:

  2. Lol ... I agree with the first and 3rd !!! Surfing lol... I have no clue how to surf... tried it once and ended up nailing some guy in the surf lol !!! my bad...poor bloke i think i broke his nose hahah! I mean ..yeah my bad :P

I love how your laughing when you said you broke his nose, same sick sense of humor as myself !

  3. Lol cmon its the game of champions!! Fishing is the R&R of champions hahaha :P

Agreed lol, fishing is the R&R of champions! Surfing is the sport of champions! NRL is the sport of Frock wearing nancy boys! :074:

  4. Just a heads up guys, it may pay better to look at maps and study the charts from bom.gov.au.

All the wind reports from willy and the like come from Bom, Bom have the stations and can predict to a certain degree. But if you look at the charts on Bom, lows, highs etc, you can get a feel for how the weather is moving and hence wind and swell + also its not the hard to learn

My prediction for next weekend the 18th and 19th .....1.5 metre swell decreasing, overcast but clearing and little wind....lets see if I'm correct lol :yahoo:

  5. I dont know how Greg withstands the conditions, except to say he is alot better than me! He does wear thermal gear, and of course a life jacket over the top when fishing at night by himself. When its that cold that I cant tie knots due to busted fingers, and swollen joints in 3-5 degree temperatures in the dead of winter without the help of pliers he does it without a problem in the world.

It must be the sheer enjoyment that keeps him going, and has been for so many years when others, myself included just roll over in bed and say stuff that, its 6.2 degrees without considering the wind factor.

    Dan

I know how he does it....very easily :biggrin2:

Sydney winters are so mild... even at the dead of night its not that bad at all. Thermals? maybe down the snow when its -13 lol or -30 in Canada :yahoo: when I snowboard I never wear thermals, skivvy and a jacket and I'm fine.

I went Jewie fishing a week ago and at 2am all I needed were jeans, a skivvy and a good quality hoodie. I must admit though, a good quality hoodie is important - make sure it is lined.

  6. If a reel gets dunked in salt water then washing it out with fresh water isn't the answer. BUT I have heard some bad reports of really poor service from a certain manufacturer lately. SOme of the problem seems to be turn around times which are long, if you dunked your reel it stands to reason you would want it serviced quickly. The only reel answer ( sorry bout that) is to learn to service your gear yourself, it isn't that hard, or find someone you trust to do it.

    Matt

To be honest , I have to agree with Matt here.

I take my reels apart very 3 weeks or so, when I know salt has hit them fairly bad. Reels are fairly simple, spray on cooking olive oil then finished with simple vaseline works a treat...but first take them apart and soak in warm soapy water. I've dunked mine numerous times, mainly from me being a complete dick! but I can't help that :biggrin2:

Reels are designed to be taken apart

  7. It's hard to blame the manufacturer for something like this, just like cars you can buy a lemon sometimes. And when that happens, if there isn't a recall the car companies won't normally help. But the dealers often do help.

Cases like this, the tackle shop you bought it from should be going the extra mile if only for the moral, return business reason!!

Sucks I know, I'd just stay away from the tackle shop you bought it from. They obviously don't have customer service on theirs minds!
