  1. The Central Coast has some around the Entrance. They are school prawns so the sizes are around a finger length occasionally bigger towards the end of the season. Try the run out tide when there is no moon out. You will need a light and scoop net plus bucket, just go and see how others are doing it.

  2. Thanks for the updates regarding Tuggerah. I try to fish there a bit as my son is now old enough to cast for himself and loves it down there - apart from the hugs crowds. Chatted to a few locals last time near the mouth of the entrance and we are planning on targeting the big bream there next time using floats and bread as bait. Any tips are welcome.

  3. Hi, Is anyone in interested in a fishing partner on Tuggerah Lakes. I am a 44 year old male who loves to fish. I am interested in gaining some local knowledge with the help of a local fisherman on the lake. Is anyone interested in teaching an old dog some tricks to catching fish in the lake. I am land based. If you want someone to fish and have a chat with send me a PM on the lake. I also do prawning.

    Cheers

    Richard

  4. Hey can you shed a bit more information on which waterways you are fishing from on the Central Coast. I am trying to get better fishing at Tuggerah lakes, but so far have not managed 1/2 the quality of fish as shown in your pictures. PM me if you want to keep it private.

  5. Squid spots are very sacred but I will give you some advice. I have previosuly caught squid around both sides of Middle Head. From the water facing Middle Head move towards Balmoral and around the corner of middle head facing the land you should be able to see some kelp about 5 metres under water and about 10-20 metres from the rock face. It can be quite a rough area due to wave swells. Same around the other side of Middle Head but there are gay/naked men on the rocks there (try to aviod this).

  6. We to The Entrance on the weekend with a mate and our 2, 4 year old kids. Kids caught a few fish and they were both happy. After dinner we decided to go prawning, so we went out to the Jetty and had caught a few prawns (not the prawning season just yet) when my mate scooped up a puffer fish (thinking it was something else). The Puffer fish started to expand and he was unable to let it out of the prawn net in time. Luckiy a local has some gloves and removed the blown up puffer from his net for us. It was now bigger than a basketball. Anyway after all that excitement it was time to go as the kids had had enough after a long day at the beach and fishing. Wish we could have stayed longer as we would have caught enough prans for a sandwich or two.

It was the funniest fishing experience I have had in a while. I can still hear the puffer fish gas bagging as it floated away downstream, quite angry.

  7. Hi all, I am new to The Entrance area and would like some help catching fish.

I am a keen angler who seeks help fishing around Tuggerah lakes and Shelly Beach areas.

I do not have a boat and therefore do landbased fishing only. I do not currently fish of the rocks.

Would like to meet someone for fishing or get advice from anyone who fishes in or around these areas and knows how to catch fish.

I am up the coast every 2nd weekend and would love to have a fish with someone or just sit down over a beer or two and a chat about fishing locally.

I have fished a bit off the Long Jetty's in the area for average results.

Any knowledge or advice would be great.

    Thanks Richard
