  1. Well last saturday did not go to plan couldnt get out of work early enough and with the weather the way it was i gave it a miss

so out to try it again as its the long weekend i should have plenty of time

If anybody else is going out let me know

  2. Howdy there again,

Well i got out to JB on sat night with a mate who has never caught Hairtail before and after catching my 1st one last week i thought i was a pro.

Well i am, as we got 5 on board for the night which we where both stoked

only small ones but still better than nothing at all

only a hand full of boats out this time

  3. Went out last night for the first time Hairtail fishing in JB how cold was it?

At last count here where 26 boats in the bay and when i awoke this morning there was me and 1 other didnt hear a thing once i was asleep

I ended up with 1 hairtail and 1 50 cm flathead

I dropped another 2 and had what i think about 7 more hits

They just pull down on the line ever so softly you have to be holding the rod at all times i think

Anyway i enjoyed it so much im going back this sat night

  4. thanks very much

Yeah thats a good size for that boat. You may have to shorten it right up as it may stop your drift altogether in light to moderate conditions. Its just a little bit of trial and error until you get use to it. But just make sure it pulls though the back of the wave when it comes underload and you'll have no dramas.

I have 2 sea anchors, a large one and a smaller one out of a lift raft that I use for lighter conditions and to help hold the boat at certian angles so I can set more lines with out worry about the boat swinging all over the place, a bucket will do the same. Ill set the large on off the bow and the small one off the shoulder but it doesnt take some time to get it right, Mainly used when cubing for tuna or sharks.

  5. Gday

    Yeas its for CC625

the anchor measures about 1500 wide when folded in half

it was a birthday present and on the bag is says for boat 6-7m

It depends on how big/far apart the swell is. Ideally you want the sea anchor pulling though the back of the 3rd wave away from you as your vessel is starting to ride/pushed down the face of the wave that your boat is on. This prevents the anchor from collapsing and breaking the surface. At this lenght it will have the greatest affect and the least stress on all the parts, but you could have a bloody lot of line out(most manaufacture recommend a minimum off 150m of line for a sea anchor).

But for fishing just aslong as you have the same principal, having the anchor pulling though the back of one wave as a wave is pushing you boat along it will work just fine but aim for 1 wave inbetween the wave you are on and the wave that the sea anchor is in. There is not set amount to let out it meters as it depends on the size of the boat, size of the sea anchor and weather conditions.

Is the CC 625 outsider the boat it is for? what size sea anchor do you have?

Dunc333's advice seems basic but trust him you will forget about it all the time so learn from his mistakes haha

  6. Great i will look out for you
