  1. Hi Mate,

The black pete riggers are just Pacific composite poles with black pete rigging and weights, i also think they run Reelax bases. Reelax also use Pacific Composites poles made to their specs.. Go for it if the price is right, just make sure you use some solid backing plates when you mount them.

I have Black Pete 16ft they have a strong base, (Not Relax actually Black Pete), while traveling in big sea i store riggers down side of boat full lenght and strap to bow rail and rear tie off cleat , this saves stressing the bases and pole mounts, i have cracked and broken fitting at end of both poles while traveling with riggers up, And that goes for all riggers especially 16ft or up, their is too much strain on all items traveling while up. They are a great set up for a realistic price.

  2. just had it confirmed it weighed 361kg on 24kg and the angler was a 61 year old man just checked the NSW records and has smashed it.

Old record for NSW was 280kg on 24

I was out there today and spoke to the skipper on radio during the fight, the fish was on 37kg and was fought for a full 4.5 hours before coming up dead, Skipper said it was too big to get in boat, now i know why 361kg what a beast, hope to see pics.

  3. That is a Black marlin and in photo i have only estimated your height at 1.8m and if so fish is 2.2m from lower jaw to fork of tail and should of weighed at around 100kgs. Blacks are much heavier in length than a stripe as you will see in the girth behind head. Anyway well done on the catch. Cheers dave

  6. Hi Ross,

It was amazing to see all the rest of the boats pull up lines and head south after the radio chatter, leaving only OnSite , me and one other boat to the productive water our selves,. The scatterd bait and small markings early in morning turned into nice bait balls later with Beakies being marked pestering the school. This was a 1 day trip for us (Long Day) so unfortunatley had to end fishing early for head home to Penrith and get cleaned up for New Years festivities. It was a great site for the newbys i had with me to watch Glenn backing down on the fish. Hoping to get back up soon, but will definately catch up at Interclub and a couple of weeks before. Cheers Dave

  7. Great work by Glenn, i fished next to him new years eve (Yesterday) on the Trench, how amazing is it that it fired for 2 days straight then yesterday, when i get there the Car Park boys also have an absolute blinder, I heard there were something like 40 boats there, with an absolute heap of fish caught even till late arvo. Thats why you got to love Port 2 great well fished spots to choose from and the trip between is often worth the short run. We did get 2 fish up and fought an absolute demon Black around 100kg that wouldnt play ball, chaffing through leader after 45 min, with spectacular jumps through out the chase. Another virgin beakie angler on my boat so i didnt call for the drag lever to go to full , but in the end we payed for it. Cheers and will see you and Glenn on water in Feb if not before. Dave

  8. Been trying to get out but the weather gods have frowned upon me. A few boats headed out sunday but no reports of Marlin yet. Water temp still a bit cold. Should be warmer by the time you get down here. Hope to head out after Xmas if the weather is ok

Actually I believe there was a Stripe Marlin hooked and dropped off JB that sunday. Things usually pick up soon . Good luck

  9. I'm also goin out wide tommorrow two of us on board might give ya a yell on vhf 21 if thats o.k. boat name DALMATINAC cheers  and good luck :1fishing1:

  12. Hi guys ,been flat out chasing work lately, sadly i will be missing yet another Social, as i wont be in NSW that weekend. Hairtail weekends have been high on the list for the OffTap crew. Cheers and hope all do well and keep it safe. Dave

  13. Well done Dave... we fished just off 1 mile east .. cubed for about 3 hours without turning a reel.. beatiful day out, but we did find the strip was very fast... did you have to work hard on the strip to keep you bait falling naturally, or was the water you were in a little slower?

    cheers steve

    (reel magic)

Mate had the sea anchor out back, worked well.

  14. I'm hearing the bigger Finn are finicky, but at least they are there!! We fished north of Browns on the same day, but like you couldn't find good water. Was you Tuna caught east of Browns. Heading out there again on Thurdsday - conditions look good.

    Yep just a little Noreast

  15. cracking fish there boys ,hopefully one of many more to come and for the braid that hurts done that myself we now attach a light wind on down the working end and if it snags up break it of with the use of the engine

    cheersArman

Thanks Buddy we decided to have a breakaway 24kg mono about 3m long before rig this time but didnt help, should have given way long before 37kg braid especially due to mono knott on swivel reducing the strength at that point. Even had 15kg mono 1m long to sinker after rig

  16. Hi guys hit browns yesterday, beautiful day out Caige and Joe as crew bottom bashed for one Blue Eye before snagging bottom and losing 600m of braid for second trip in a row. Next troll around and look for some water change but didnt happen , pulled up wide and started a Cube trail 3 hours later one of the 15s goes for a run , before Joe locks up on it and the line cuts the water like a train before going deep, 30 minutes and colour, looked good definate YFT, another run the 5 minutes later a nice YFT was gaffed and dragged over side. It went 43.4kg bleed on the electronic scales at home. Biggest YFT to boat to date and PB for Joe.

  17. Our Second Tournament. And how we went.

Briefing Thursday night at rear of Greenwell Point bowling club in tournament tent, met all the boys run down on rules and boat pack given to all skippers.

Friday bit choppy but calmned off nicely later, we trolled North of JB Canyons and hooked up to little Stripe around 60kg Caige (My young Bloke"Outdodad") Junior member JBGFC was first on and i tagged within 35 minutes on 24kg. Next was Ray (On Edge) on my boat to hook up on a livie between JB Canyons and Kink to a nice 90kg model his first fish, Tagged in 43 minutes on 24kg, raised another fish later but no luck. Started first day great, but Blue Alabi had it up on us with 5 Tagged Beakies, we had a lot of catching up to do. Great work by the team on Blue Alabi. Saturday saw a much better run out from Crooky, headed south East again early hook up north of the kink and the junior up again to try and improve the young blokes points, another little stripe on a livie, short fight around 20 minutes Tagged and released to live another day. Drifted some bait schools and jigged some baits to raise a nice size 100 plus stripe, threw in a livie and away she went, i was next up and with Tiagra 50W on Sunset took 50 minutes to subdue before tag deployed and beast released. Nice big fish. Saturday night dinner at Tournie Tent was relaxing with a great feed, a few prizes raffled off with plenty of stories all round. Blue Alabi was now on 7 fish T&R and we were equal second T&R points Boat with Johnie Casper also doing well on 4 . Sunday was even a better run out , trolled south along to kink and hooked another little stripe on shotty Joe's on this time and a few short runs Tag was in in under 20 minutes, first fish T&R before 7.45am last day, looking good, raised a good fish not long after but failed to take our livie, buy this time we were south east of kink 10am and rigger livie gets smashed, good fish this time and Ray was back on for his second ever fish, fought it on almost full drag with time ticking away and 42ks from crooky heads, most stubborn fish for us this season had her just out of tag pole reach twice before she went deep, 50 minutes and she won her freedom with main line broken through. Tally for us 9-6-5 for the weekend. Caige took out Junior T&R points score and was awarded a TLD25 and 15kg Beastmaster Rod Combo with a nice plaque to hang. We were Runner up T&R Boat with 50,000 points . Lucky door prise went to the most luckiest person of the weekend Me, Great Furuno FCV585 sounder. Cheers and thanks to the Shoalhaven Game fishing club for a well organised and run event, Bruce from Port Kembla Coast Gaurd who did an outstanding job with the running of Scheds.

Third Pic Below , you can see a circle hook in corner of mouth, Stainless Hook from previous hook up, I removed this before releasing, so fish was better off after we caught it.
