  1. I used to have a 2003 CRV, and I've had it up on the hoist and have seen all 4 wheels moving. They are a constant 4wd.

1500 towing capacity? Thats a joke... 4.5m boat would be the max you would tow. Anything bigger than 4.5m, you need better towing vehicle.

When you eventually upgrade cars, go diesel.  Gl.

    Geez And your point is?

The membership numbers are only the registered members. It does not reflect any of the other statistics or analytics.

Active members? What are you looking for? Visits, length of stay, post count, what forums have most activity, guests, what devices etc etc etc

There are many many members on here that just hit and run and do not contribute.

I am very thankful we don't have 26,000 people hitting the site all the time. We would need a lot more resources human and otherwise ;)

Maybe we should just shut this forum down because of "inactive" members.

I just need to select the "turn it off button" which equals "zero activity"

    Hi Donna,

From reading Fabs original post, it seemed like  he genuinely thought that we had 26,000 active members who were not doing their part and contributing to this site. So my reply to Fab was letting him know that there's probably not that actual amount active, it was a genuine reply that was not intended to be harmful or derogatory. I think because this is the internet and not a face to face conversation, messages may be conveyed differently.

I've been a member since 2011 and provided 1000 posts trying to do my part. I've also contacted you personally via email when the site has been down etc and offered my help.

I'm a little taken back and at the same time apologize if I have offended you in anyway.

I just realised that's how many members are on this fantastic site.

But I would of thought that more than the handful of regular contributors would have something to add to this great community we call fishraider.

Surely guys must get out on their boats/yaks,Work on their gear etc to be able to contribute a little more as I for one really enjoy reading everyone's posts and try to contribute where I can even though I don't get out fishing as often as I'd like to nor am very good at it.

If you have anything to say no matter how insignificant it may seem post it up anyway as you'd be surprised at who you may help.

To say that I'm shocked at the lack of input considering our members is an understatement as people contributing is what keeps a great site like this going.

I understand people like to keep info to themselves and that's fine but I'm sure there's plenty of others that don't.

Sorry to rave on as I found it very disappointing when I realised the members we have and to all the team keep up the great effort and time you all put into this fantastic site as I really appreciate all your efforts.

    Fabian.

If the web admin did a SQL query on "active" members, with a criteria of say the last 6 months, I'm sure the results returned is much less than 26,000.

Thanks @Raging for the PM. It seems everybody else has their boat in the water. Not much help from this community, if it's not about fish.

You should have posted in the Boating section

Also need a laptop with correct software to check lots of "stuff" for correct operation.

Do the research get the software and cable, and all you need to do is check for error codes.

Don't be afraid guys, its not rocket science.

    Hey guys.

Was just wondering if anyone buys gear from overseas tackle stores and gets it shipped here.

I've done it for my other hobbies and saved alot but I'm not aware of fishing stores in the US that ship here (or if its financially viable)

Does anyone buy from OS ?

    Cheers

    Wise move!

And I disagree with your post! I do not think they we are part of the problem if we choose to say nothing. We are not the law! Your comparison to a fire is also a false analogy. Someone keeping an undersized or illegal fish is not a life threatening situation as fire!

    Just saying!

    cheers scratchie!!!

I'm with Scratchie. I hate confrontation, and even worse I hate violent irrational people. I have a family to go home to, why would I want to get involved in something which I have no authority over.

If you want to confront them fine, you may as well confront the millions of dickhead hoons on our roads tailing gating and weaving dangerously and road raging on others.

  10. Hi Raiders,

Taking the family up to my cousins holiday house at Swansea heads. I've never been up there and looking to get some fishing in, both land based and boat.

Any tips and local knowledge would be much appreciated, PM's also welcomed!

    Thanks,

    Dave

  11. Hey Jim,

I was out at Longy today too, I was the first boat there. We were there from about 6:30am to 10:30am, all baby kings! And we sounded out so much bait balls too, DR-ing through them with whole live squid, only to be hit by baby 40cm kings, biggest was 61 but no legals, such a waste! We sounded inside Middle Harbour as well, along seaforth etc, sounder showed nothing.

    Hi Dave

Put the bolts through (thread underneath) then the rubber washer, then the plastic disc and tighten nut.

I'll look over weekend and see if I still have instructions.

If your still unsure let me know and I'll type out detailed instructions from memory. It's easy

Ah right... I didn't fit the rubber washer and I took the boat out to longy today, lucky it didnt come off! Will put the rubber washers on the weekend thanks mate. FYI so many baby kings outside, we were pulling up 45cm-60cm kings, such a disappointing day after spending so much effort to get live squid.

  13. Hey Shakey,

I also just purchased the SE SPORT 400 (recommended by Stewy in an older post).

Mine came with the normal circular half indented thingy that sits on the bottom, but it also came with a round rubber washer too. Are we supposed to fit this too? I was unclear on the youtube video they have for this installation.

    Hi everyone,

So after a much heated debate on a local tackle stores facebook page, I got booted for pointing out a requirement to wear a lifejacket at night.

Someone please correct me if I wrong, less than 4.8m - two people on board - at night - need to wear pfd's greater than 50s.

It quite clearly states this on page 22 of the boating handbook if anyone would like to check.

Or have my mates and I been wearing them to look pretty at night on my 4.5m boat.

For the record, I wont be supporting the local store anymore and I always went to him for advice/tackle/bait

    Cheers guys

    Mick

    Hey Mick,

You're spot on mate. Dusk to dawn life jackets are mandatory. I seen Martime pull up people at the spit at 3am for not wearing life jackets.

  15. I just hear so much "nancy fancy jibberish" about not using fuel that's more than say 3 months old, it could destroy your engine blahblahblah and its always from someone who has heard it from someone else. Bottom line, I've used 6month+ old fuel and my engine hasn't blown up. Been doing it for years.

  16. There's no hard data of fuel going off... I think its another big myth...

I've used fuel that's like 6 months old with no issues. And adding stabil to the fuel, I reckon that's another pile of baloney. How can such a tiny ratio of liquid somehow keep fuel going for another 6+ months.

I would love to see some hard data and proven scientific evidence to support old fuel not to be used in engines.

  17. Hi Frank,

I was down there a few weeks back, fishing off the pier near the boat ramp early morning. Beautiful place to fish, I only pulled up chopper tailor and other small colourful fish. Good luck and happy 70th!

For submerged ( and any application if you like) Dual Wall heatshrink is the go.

It contains hot melt glue and does form a water proof connection.

    Cheers

    Jim

I just use 1 heatshrink and use 2 small cable ties on each end.

  19. Depends on the grease. If its marine grade (typically dark blue in color), then exposure to water is fine as it will not mix.

If its normal grease, like those Timken tubs of red grease, they are no good and will muddy up and seize your bearings within a few outings.

You can usually tell by an muddy grease around your bearing buddy. Also jack up the trailer and spin the wheel on both sides, see if there's any difference.
