  1. Hi Guys,

This is my first report in Australia...... Here goes.

We took the faily up to bendalong for the long weekend and we were totaly blown away by the place. My casting arm was tinggling when I woke up so I went and tossed a slud through the beach when we went for a walk, not really expecting anything but enjoying the view none the less.

That evening we clambered onto the rocks with the rising tide and made it round to Red Head. I went bare foot (school boy error) and would strongly recomend shoes!

We found a lovely spot, out of the wind, that looks belting for drummer. The mrs dropped in a float with a size 1 hook and some mackeral to no avail. I then went and cast out a 15g, blue, spinner and hooked into an unknown fish (i'll get a pic up soon). Same on the 2nd cast. It then whent really quiet for about 10 mins. Still no luck on the float. Finnal cast before we had to head back before the tide cut us off and there was a tremendous splash and thump on my lure as a powerful, square shaped, tail came over the top but didnt hook. Gutted!

The next morning I was up at first light and went down to Washerwomans beach with my beach caster and a bag of mackeral and pillchards. All I got was weed. (looks like a another good drummer spot by the boat ramp). Gave up about 6am and headed over the other side of the camp site and found a brak in the surf. First cast I hooked into a Good salmon on a slab of Mackeral on a 5/0 hook at the top of my 2 hook rig. It was in very Shallow as the surf had moved my lead in pretty close. It coughed up about 5 small bait fish while I un-Hooked it so they must have been feeding pretty hard around sun up.

Not even a nibble after that, but he went in the bucket and was very good on the BBQ with some lemon and salt that evening.

All in all, now I know what it there and what to look for I will be heading back with the right gear and not just winging it. There is a HUUUUUGE amount of bait close in and tones of weed patches. I reckon there would be a good load of Drummer, whiting and squid in the area. And in the Surf there must be plenty of bigger preadetors.

Good luck to any one who heads out that way an I hope this is some help. :biggrin2:

    Hi mate

I was down ther 2 weekends ago, and fishing was abit slow, butwe still managed to get 4 good sized drummer and heaps of mother fish. I have fished there many times the best bait is just the humble peald prawn and you will get drummer, salmon, bream, talor and groper.. Oh yeah don't forget to burly up with bread...

  2. Hi Guys,

Im going on a fishing comp on the 16th till the 19th of this month.

    Has anyone fished there lately?

    Dogbox

    g'day

I haven't fished bendalong for a while, but about half way up the main rock platform facing south always produced well. With bread for burly and a peeled prawn on a size 2 hook, 10 to 30 pound braid with fluorocarbon leader(depending on what your after), I caught heaps bream, drummer, travally and groper.

    I hope this helps

  3. Went down to Bobbin Head this morning with my 2 year old son this is only the second time he has been fishing. He managed to reel in a 42cm flathead with a little help from his dad. One very excited son and one very proud father.

What proud smile, great work.:1fishing1:

  4. Hey guys,just a quick report.

headed out the hacking yesterday before work and picked up this nice whitting on a popper

Sensational whiting.if you kept it I hope it tastes great.

  5. what a great way to end a weekend, fished the run up tide this morning at my favorite spot (windang island). it was slow to start but as the tide started to rise and the evened out, the wirra cod moved in then the bream and then my favorite the drummer. Most of the fish were to small or not worth keeping. but they gave my new stradic 3000 spooled with 10lb braid,a good run for it's first time out half way through the secession i had to change to stradic 8000 with 30lb braid to handle the swell and under tow as i was loosing to many of the bigger fish.all the keepers were 32cm not huge but good fun and good eating.

  6. Caught these 7 drummers of Eastern Suburbs on Sat morning on the early high tide. Berley hard and used banana prawns for bait.

    Size from 34 to 40cm.

great sizes very tasty. and great little fighters.great stuff.
