  1. Fisher Cowan Creek Saturday night for 6 bream, 2 biggest went 36cm and couple of others around the 27cm mark that were set free. Very windy conditions so all bream were caught behind protected headlands.

Sunday morning tried for flathead around Patonga without any luck.

  2. great catch mate! what were you using for the troll to catch them flatty? i assume you were using something heavy to drag it along the bottom right:)? and crab were just snag on line? look forwards to your advice.

    cheers

Flatties caught on small hard bodies trolled in shallow water. Crabs were caught in crab traps.

  3. Fished the Upper Hawkesbury River on Sunday with my boys. Caught a couple of crabs and a few Flathead.

Biggest went 63cm which wasn't a bad catch for a 7 year old. He fought it like a pro all the way to the boat.

My other son got second prize with a 48cm model. Dad managed a couple of the smaller fish.

All fish caught on a mixture of trolled hard bodies and soft plastics.

Beer batted flathead and chilled mud crab for dinner.

  4. can these be fished through land base or only by boats?

    Thanks.

Due to the terrain you really need a boat. In saying that there are some areas near Apple Tree Bay that can be fished land based.

  5. nice catch mate! where do u live? i find it hard to get to cowan creek from belmore. any short cut or boat ramp to launch there?

There is a boat ramp at Apple Tree Bay, in Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

  6. Fished Cowan Creek yesterday afternoon with my 7 year old. Had a ball catching Tailor and Salmon. Son showed dad up with the bigggest Salmon of the day, over 70cm. the fight lasted around 10min with the Salmon jumping then going deep.

Son kept his cool fighting the fish like a pro.

    Total Caught

10 Tailor all around the 35cm mark

    2 Salmon

All caught on Hardbodies and Soft Plastics

Plenty of baitfish in the creek at the moment resulting and plenty of boil ups.

  7. woo thats some great catch there champ! how many traps did you guys lay out? and would you been trapping around the bridge? haven't had so much success like yours in ages :) and also was it at the top of the tide?

    cheers

All crabs caught on the bottom of the run in. Had 8 traps out until a big cruiser ran over one of them cutting the rope. Crabs were caught around Milson Island, all caught in 4hours.

  9. Took my two boys crabbing today in the Hawkesbury, Kids had a great time pulling up the traps.

All up we probably caught 25 crabs letting the smaller ones go and keeping 17.

Bait used Mullet, all caught on the incoming tide.

  10. Went to North Haven over the weekend fishing and camping with my brother in law and his family. took the boat out on friday conditions were tough with a strong wind and rough seas but we did manage to see a whale about 100m from the boat.

Saturday was a better day I ended up with a few flatties, Morwong and a Pearly. Had the Pearly last night what a great eating fish. We also had a Mako that took half a sargy and then returned for the other half only to bust us off. My brother in law ended up with a similar bag but also got a trag.

    Both families had a great time.post-19447-074460200 1318845176_thumb.jpgpost-19447-077804800 1318845147_thumb.jpg

  11. post-19447-008828500 1315740258_thumb.jpgPut the boat in at Apple Tree Bay on saturday night and headded out towards Juno point. Was unable to fish the usual bream spots due to the windy conditions. So returned back to a marker near Cottage Point that was protected from the wind. Ended up with 1 undersized bream a undersize soapy and 2 legal bream biggest went 32cm and the other 30cm. All in all a very quiet night.
  12. Thats awesome well done!

Was he using lures or bait? I get my 3 year old daughter to use a lure, as she always keeps reeling non stop :biggrin2:

Bait but ur right he struggles to stay still for more than a minute i'll try the lures next time.

  13. Went down to Bobbin Head this morning with my 2 year old son this is only the second time he has been fishing. He managed to reel in a 42cm flathead with a little help from his dad. One very excited son and one very proud father.
