  1. You have answered your own question lol. Least I know not to get any marks off you.

haha im 99% sure my other marks are all correct, i hope so anyway.

Bill would be having a chuckle if he saw the mark on your GPS.

Anyone know the history as to when Heaton first fished there?

    Cheers

    Paikea

I bet he would! Some history would be great.

  2. Hi lads,

With this bad weather I have been getting my boat ready for when these bluefin tuna turn up.

I was looking at some old marks in my gps and i noticed that there is a sea mount near my Heatons Hill mark...

It got me thinking is my Heatons Hill mark wrong? Should it be directly over that 960 1094 circle on the map where it rises?

  3. Great catch guys. How big do you think she was?

I was guessing around the 80kg mark mate?

We'll done boys was that off bandit? There has been good numbers over the last 2 weeks

Cheers, was in 80 fathoms east of Wollongong. Has there been many fish caught off Bandit this season? I only know of one fish thats been caught off there this year.

    Cheers everyone!

  4. We caught them in around 600 fathoms S/E of the canyons. Skirts that did the damage for us were a brand of skirt called JAKS lures Australia, the tuna and albacore love them!

Hi Sluggo, I just want to say thanks for sharing your co ordinates yesterday on the radio. I was at Browns deep dropping when I heard you on ch21. I quickly entered your info into my gps and 45 mins later I was at the location you shared. After trolling for half hour I was onto my first yellowfin. Weighed in at 40kg. I've been chasing these tuna for 2 years and if it wasn't for you I'd still be chasing so thankyou once again.

I appreciate that mate. I have also been chasing them for around 3 years now. It takes alot of time, money, researching and effort to get these fish and when you troll all day every weekend for zero fish it is very disheartening.

Once we got those YFT i felt a weight had been lifted off my shoulders and all the hard work had paid off, I was so happy! I gave the co ordinates out to help other people like yourself, and to also give something back.

Good work mate can't wait to get my first. Is that a broken rod in the second photo? Those things must pull like freight trains.

    Regards

Yes, my mates reel seized up half way through the fight, then about 30 seconds later his T curve Revolution snapped!!! After about 20 minutes we somehow landed a good size YFT.

A bit of luck was on our side that day. It was a day I will never forget. I have it all on go pro film also.

    Cheers Sluggo

  5. We went wide today for a donut. The furthest point was about 7nm north east of Heatons and covered 210klms for the day. Saw a leaping mako, massive dolphins and some whales. No sbt though. Had a great time anyway. Get out there mate. If you choose your day right and are well prepared, there are quite a few boats your size out there doing it safely. Mine is 6.8m.

Erroll, my mark for heatons hill is 34.02.725 152.00.228. Which is roughly 10klms north of where you drove over where you have marked heatons hill ( the little round circle on your map ). I noticed that rise on my map and thought that it must be heatons and my marks are off??? Whos mark is right mate?

  6. I have a question maybe someone in this chat can answer. We headed out to heaton's for the first time on my mate's boat which has an airmar 1kw transom mounted transducer on a HDS7 and it seems to lose the depth reading around 1500mtrs down. Is that normal?? Whats the capability of these transducer??

    TIA :)

I would like to know this also, i have the airmar p66 and it doesnt even read the depth at 50fathoms... This cant be normal?

Very dissapointing day, launched from port hacking, pinned it to browns then trolled from browns to ne of heatons and back in a 5.5m boat. Thats fishing though. Used 140 litres. If your heading out, make sure you have enough fuel.
