  1. Hey dan,

Mate really depends on the boat you are fishing from. I have had a few boats now and all trim differently in different conditions.

I went out on Friday for zip. Nice weather big swell though. Started peak to 12 mile to browns to long reef and then Ho

E for absolutely nothing. Others though seem to be bringing the fish up.

Good luck at least you are giving it a shot mate.

  2. Why have we all just read and replied to a post about a bloke not catching anything and then the 3 of them throw up? I really love reading these posts and this one seems pretty funny and made menlaugh but guys and girls let's get good info on this forum to help us all catch more fish, learn better techniques and find hit spots etc.

  3. G'day brunny,

Thanks for your honesty and a great qn too.

Well 1 fish every 4 hours is pretty average when everything falls into place you will see better results.

Re the sounder you are using, I have not used that model b4 so I can't help you there though I can recommend using burley. Even when you are fishing w plastics set out a burley trail and see the difference in results. I have found by burlying my results greatly imporved.

Good luck and I hope that helps

  4. G'day mate,

Everything others have written the only things if like to add are

    1. Forty baskets has been great last 2 weeks for yakkas ESP the little bite size ones.

2.drift through the heads a we have been getting keeper kingies lately in that area.

Also sharks well if u see one take a 50w with u half a Bonnie and hook him up. Dont be scared it's alot of fun

  5. Gday mate,

    I use the miya epoch 8 w 150lb braid.

I understand money is a factor but spend a little extra on the reel and then u know u r safe w at least 130lb braid e 1000m. From experience you can and do loose line and if u loose say 200-400 metres from ur 800m u have to respool again. Which sucks if u r out there and can't reach the bottom (been there done that).

So it's better to be safe than sorry w this type of fishing isy motto.

  6. Mate it's all a state of mind. Years ago to me wide was out through the heads now browns isn't wide any more as I'm there once a week or more when weather permits. I now consider heatons wide, I'm sure if you constantly fish at heatons after a while it won't be wide to u anymore.

  7. G'day line class

Went out Tuesday for 8 gemmies (bag limit for 4) then Wednesday back to browns for 4 makos some pretty darn big then back to browns Thursday for another mako then out today (Friday) for nothing. We chumed for 4 hours not even a sighting of a shark. Weather was pretty average today. Hope that helps.
