  1. Did you catch the mowie from landbased fishing?

If so where abouts? never caught one before on a land.

This time we found lot of Morwong along the breakwall( the ocean size) Nobby's head. I dont own a boat for I usally seek for rock/breakwall.

  2. Hi guys

I recently got hooked with this big lips fish but noone know what its called. It's big, 45cm, bit of fighting. Two days in a row I got the same fish and quite same size. Also, I think the one that I took picture with the cake spoon is Silver Drummer, however, its color is weird to appear.

  3. Welcome Charzy :)

Im also a new girl to fishing and I love it. Everytime I stress I just pack my gear and go for the call of love, get away from work. Botany Bay is said a good spot year rounder, or Manly and Mosman. If you are after big ones, Catho- the rock platform- provides heaps of drummer and groper. However it's a long walk to get down there across the sand beach. Be aware if you doing LB. Safety gear 1st rule.

    Enjoy

  4. Nice to hear that. However the spot should be kept in private-my thought. You dont want to see 1 by 1 fishing rod setting like a Sunday market. I dislike a mess left over after anglers gone. Me go down to Swansea quite often and I feel terrible seeing rubbish everywhere. It's discusting.

  5. Just a bit of info for people who would like to do some prawning for the first time or 1000th time..

Now is the start of this months prawn run, the next 2 weeks is the prime prawn time..

Get out there and into ém, any lake with some good shallows be it open or closed to the sea,

the prawns don't care as they tiny little brains tell them to get out to the ocean even if it is closed to the open sea.

Good luck and hope to see some prawn reports...

    Hi Ray

I find night time just couple hour after low tide before there'll be plenty of fish chasing bait. Is it because of prawning season?

  6. Hey guys

I have been out a few times, but having Great difficulties with bait, No problem catching yakkas but they Are huge, like I can't imagine a kingfish eating it, any tips in catching smaller yakkas ? Don't want to use squid, too delicious to give to kings hehe

Just go for smaller hook for smaller yakkas size. You might get the other baby fish but it's worth if you're after small ones.

  7. Hi Krist,

Use small float, small hook #10, small (4lbs) and short leader about 30cm, tinny sinker with small piece of white bread on the hook. Don't forget to burley/chum with crushed bread

Hope it works, let me know how it goes.

    Cheers,

    Andy

I went there again last night Andy. They dont it bread but yakkas does. Got some big ones same mullet size ^_^. I try no sinker no leader but small hook and they bite \^_*/

  8. try as light line as you can handle, burley with small pieces of bread floating on top.

size 6 hook, no weight and just float it out like the burley..good luck

Yes and I got 4 for dinner :)

    Thanks

  9. Hi guys

I went to Swansea last night and saw heaps of garfish plus tailors jumping jumping. I got hooked some tailors but gave up with gar. It was low tight and the fish was just on the surface. No float no sinker no bite but... can anyone give me some hints?

    Thanks

  11. Gday Raiders,

Getting livies in Sydney Harbour first thing in the morning isn't a problem (most of the time).

However, more often than not, trying to get livies when the sun is high in the sky is a problem for me.

Im assuming the livies go into deeper water during this time.

Anyone like to help me out and suggest any good reliable spots to pick up livies?

I would like to do some arvo sessions targeting kingies, and prefer not to collect livies the night before.

    Cheers,

    J

Hi Jay, I still can collect some during midday by using berley which made from bread and wet sand.

  12. Hi all,

My family plan a trip for next month but I have terrible seasick. Last time we went out from Swansea and I couldnt stay over 2hours, just kept burley the fish :( . I did took some pills but it didnt work out. Any reckon how to get away from that sickness? I got carsick sometimes...PML... which pill I should take and how many, how long ? Please I need some help.

  13. I have eaten a few silver drummer and they taste not too bad, the flesh tends to toughen as they get larger so I would recommend baking them in some kind of sauce in the oven to try and keep some moisture in there, but taste wise they are quite good.

    nice catch.

    pete.

Noted. Thanks. I will shut up and fish =]]

  14. I usally go fishing with some Asian neighbours, no discrimination here-Im Asian too, some of them dont have much knowledge about thing called legal fishing. I saw they took a very small, tiny fishes just about your hand size which I guess bone only no flesh. Told them many time but it seemed useless as the way they thougth "we dont get someone will" :( I feel shamed standing next to them. Sometimes I wonder where's our officers? I cant call them because im with someone I know. Lately I go fishing without telling them, just me and my boyfriend. They often come over my place and show me their lil catch. "Poor fish". I got angry with them but I couldnt do anything to stop them. I hope one day our people will turn up at the right time. Someone need to learn something. Not just about us but abt our environment, our next generation. Dont know what they have in head... :ranting2:

  15. really cause it looks like you no were near nobbys in that pic.

lol i live in mayfield just 5mins driving to Nobby. it was taken in the garden. you think how long it could survive if you give it a water tank:)

p/s. at least someone see the different background

  16. Mate

Thats a cracker pig. Did well to get him out.

South of Knobby's around bar beach there is some good platforms usually with lots of cabbage and weed. Or Merryweather baths down to the bogie hole.

Take care fish in pairs and watch the water.

    Tight lines

Thanks. I will always watch out the water as I still enjoy my life and the truth is I cant swim :1yikes: . Wanted to try Merewether the rockpool but that area looks scary to me seeing the swell bang bang directly your side !!! It's said groper and drummer are best catch there with cunje but you need to be paitent. must be low tide or there's no change to cross the rockplatform.
