  1. Thanks Sean,

Looking at those pics it seems that the gunnels may not be wide enough. Have you got the low profile base?

i found some measurements for that (394358 Low Profile Base 189mmL x 146mmW x 29mmH 6mm Dia Holes) but looking at the pic it would appear that the downrigger base is smaller and may fit.

Woukld appreaciate any measurements you can give.

    Regards

    Shaun

  2. Hi Raiders,

Just wondring if any one has a Cannon Lake Troll Manual Downrigger?

I'm looking at purchasing one and need to know the measurements of the base.

Cannon website doesn't give any size and as i'm purchasing this via the internet, would like to make sure if it will fit on the gunnels.

    Regards

  3. Hi Belligero,

A quick Google search will turn up quite a few which should cater to any style of fishing you do.

You could also try your local RSL club's as quite a few of these run internal fishing clubs as well.

  4. Hi All,

Quick report on today's session. The original plan was to flick some soft plastics around the Quarantine Station at North Head but due to the wind decided to give it a miss and bring Plan B into action. Headed down to Spit Reserve where the wind wasn't much better but the $13.50 car park fees for four hours put that decidedly into the "Stick that" category.

So Plan C was bought into action and headed south to home and a stop off at Port Botany. 3rd cast and an undersize flattie on a squidgie almost as big as itself was quickly released. Bugger all for the next hour or so and just on the last of the run out tide, Rossco, my fishing buddy lets out a hoot as his 3 kg Shimano raider buckles over nicely.

First call was for a decent size flattie but very soon changed as Mr Sambo decides to give us a tail walking demonstration. After 5 or ten minutes of two-ing and fro-ing, I mange to tail grab the beast, with Rossco suitably chuffed on landing the fine specimen on 4lb Braid.

Another 5 or 6 dozen last casts and i finally nailed another Flattie before we called it quits for home.

    Regards

  5. He was fishing at a well known location on the East Coast not far from the helicopter base and from reports the guys at the base actually gave them a friendly take care stay safe hello, as relatively calm as the sea has been you can never be too careful (the paticular spot which I request and all respect due remain unammed on this Forum due to its nature and isolated location

Was out having a stroll down to cape banks a few weeks ago and spied two gentleman at this very spot. Unbelievably, one was fishing in a pair of wellington boots. Access rope was tied with what looked like a Grannie knot around an outcrop of sandstone rock.

If these sort of deaths keep occurring, Some time soon we will see rock fishing banned.

  6. Hehehe I know exactly what your talking about my mum makes it all the time !! I'm half Samoan half Fijian indian !! In Fijian we call it "Kokonda" but exactly the same made but sometimes substitute the peppers for fresh red chillis !!

But I tell u know can't get a better raw fish recipe mate !!

Big of Ota ika, Kalo and polusami and we are in business heheh his from reading this post I called my mum about it she's making it this weekend for me for dinner oh how sweet this is heheheh

    Dude,

My Father-in-laws second wife was Samoan, and she introduced me to this dish in NZ. It's absolutely delicious. I like the idea of substituting the peppers for Chillies. I reckon the long red ones, with the seeds removed would go down a treat.

  7. 'Ota Ika is a Polynesian recipe for raw marinated fish in coconut milk.

    Servings: 6

    Ingredients:

    1 kilogram fresh fish fillets

    5 lemons, juiced

    onion or spring onions, chopped

    1 cucumber, diced

    2 tomatoes, chopped

1 red pepper, sliced (green or yellow peppers work well too)

1 1/2 cups of coconut cream

    1 cup water

    1 pinch ground black pepper

    Salt to taste

    Procedure:

Rinse the fish and cut into cubes.

Place the boneless meat in a clean bowl.

Cut the lemons and squeeze the juice all over the fish, making sure that the meat is well soaked in lemon juice.

Cover the bowl and leave to marinate for at least 2 hours.

Drain of the lemon juice and place all cubes in a clean bowl, chop the onion, tomato, cucumber, green pepper and the lettuce and add to the fish. Add the coconut cream and water also to the bowl of mixed veges and fish cubes.

sprinkle with pepper and salt and mix well.

    Transfer to a serving bowl.

    cover and chill before serving.

Serve with cooked green bananas, taro, yams or sweet potatoes.

Enjoy the taste of the Pacific 'Ota Ika.

  8. Hi Raiders,

Does any body know where i can get some mod's done to a small Sea jay 4mtr Escape?

I want to have new floors and casting decks put in and a electric outboard bracket fitted to the bow.

I don't have the time or the facilities to do the job myself.

I'm located in the eastern Suburbs of Sydney but am willing to travel for a professional job.

    Regards
