  1. Hi Fellas,

    I'm a confused musician

I learn classical guitar with a fantastic teacher, perform/write folk occasionally at open mics, aspire to be a jazz guitarist and have played for an RnB duo who wanted to do an acoustic set, which I thought was really cool of them.

I have a beautiful admira classical, an epiphone masterbilt and a nice acoustic amp.

Guitar is about the only non-human thing that can stop me from going fishing :biggrin2:

    Mike

 is right, what a variation of styles.

How long you guys been playing for? I have been doing it off and on for years. But mostly just to entertain myself.

  5. G'Day all

Just wanted to give you guys an update.

The date has been set for Jakes OP. 28/8/06. We have had the meeting with the surgeon and been told all the possabilities. What a bombshell that was. But I am confident that all will go well and only allow positive thoughts into me head. We do get upset somrtime but being positive is the answer.

Jake is on the top pririty list if there is a cancelation(another child gets a cols or something) so we are on alert. The people at the Childrens Hospitol are fantastic so far and I can't see that changing. We here so much about how crap aour system is but I have NO complaints. Hats off to them all. Especially the surgeon. These people are top of my books, and worth every cent they get.

    Cheers

  7. What about calling the section "TAG ALONGS"

That could be the name of the forum in adtion to DESPERATE AND BOATLESS. My spin (as a newby)on the Deperate and boatless title was members requesting a ride. This new section would be for boaters pffering up a ride or for other members to join in.

    Heres my 2 bobs worth

    1. A template could be created to fill in for the itital post (to keep things uniform). This would be a very simple layout with all the details required

    2. Post this template up in the "TAG ALONGS" forum. With the thead heading of the date and location you are sugesting. You would then be the co-ordinator of the day and can sugest how it will pan out, BBQ, Kids etc

    3. Then other members simply reply. If a member wishes to join in and can offer a ride to another they can add that to their reply and other non boater members can PM that person for details.

    Sample Template

    Georges 01/07/06 "TAG ALONG"

    Location Georges River

    Boat Ramp Sandy Point

    Time 6.30am - 12.30pm

    Target Bream

    Method Hardbodies.

    Cut off date 25/06/06

    Etc etc etc

And that is my 2 bobs woth

sorry for such a long winded post Stewy

  8. Dear All

My wife and I are very touched by all the responces and well wishes. My wife could not believe the replies from people we don't even know. She said that this proove that even though ou TV's are filled with all the doom and gloom and stories of all the bad things people do to each other. This proves that there are a lot of very GOOD people in the world.

Thanks again. The August family fishing day was going to be our first FR family day. Looks like we will mis that one but we will ALL be at the next for sure.

  9. Hello all

This is an incredably hard post to write, but having read some of the posts on this site and knowing all the fishermen that I do, I certainly know that 99.9999% of you are very decent people. And I need some help.

My wife and I found out last night that our little boy who is only 4 an not even at school needs to have some major heart surgery. It has not be sheduled as yet but we meet in two weeks to discuss all the things that no parent wants to discuss with the surgen and the I asume a date will then be set.

Could I ask that anyone, willing to, say a short prayer for our boy. If you don't believe in God or JC say a few words to your man on his behalf. I am a believer in positive thinking and the power of many people so if you could it would be appreciated.

Like I said before the people on this site all seem to be decent family people and even JC was a fishermen so I think if a few of us can just ask him to watch over us things will be OK.

Most of you don't know me and some may think this is crazy but it can work. My little fishing Buddy's name is Jake and so far he has shown more gut than his old man.

    Your thoughts would be appreciated

    Brett :(

  10. OK guy excellent stuff so far. I have been keeping some records as this

goes along and the results so far are.

    THE TOP LURES ARE

This is a total of votes for each lure.

. Bass Minnow in Wtaermelon = 5 Votes

. Bass Minnow in Pumkinseed = 5 Votes

    . 2" Hawgs = 5 Votes

    . 3" Hawgs = 4 Votes

    . 6"Gulp sandworms = 4 Votes

    . Atomic Grubs = 4 Votes

The next best were the Squidgie Wriglers with 3 Votes, Sandworms in camo 2 Votes,Berkley Gulps 2 Votes

Nymphs 2 votes and 1" Hawgs 2 Votes as well. All the other lure mentioned in this post only got 1 vote.

So there we have it. For any new soft plastic fisho's out there here is a pretty decent list to get us started. I now have my shoping list set. I already use some of these lure but the others are coming to my tackle box soon

Thanks guys hope this hekps some other fish raiders as well.

    Bretto :1beer:

  11. Thanks for all the replies guys. Seems like there are a few fellas that would like to try and product their own lure. Hopefully that if and when a few of us finally get the job done we could post some PIC's in this thread.

I plain to make a popper and a diving bidded lure. My old man has a scoll saw so I will be cuuting some blanks out of pine using that. I thought I would try my prototype lures with anything i could find at work or at home, just to get the feel for it. I'm undecided what material to try for a bib though. The shet meatal sound ok but I thought the plastic from old CD covers might do. Depends if its thick enough. Pehaps even an old CD, who know the extra flash may work OK

    Keep ya posted.

    Brett0 (bre770) :yahoo:

  12. I remeber my first one (and only one!)

it was small dowl surface thing.made to look like the smak skywalker. after throwing it around for a few hours it finialy got smashed only to have my hole lure stolen and only be left with the ring i tied my knot too!

    so use good glue lol

i should try again soon it was the best feeling when i got a hook up on my own lure

    Robwon

Thats exactly why I want to do it. I'm only planing to start with a design that is easy to hone my skills. I will probably end up getting a book of some sort to help me through. I would likr to do this style of thing as another hobbie. Could be a good way to pass some time. Fly tying will be on the list of to do's as well.

Thanks for the link I will check it out for sure.

  13. I was thinking of making my own hard boy lures. Just to see if I could. I was planning to use wood as the

    main material.

Has anyone got any tips for me or a web site to get some intructions?

I would also love to see any home made lure that other fishraiders have made.

    Bretto

  14. Thanks guys.

To be honest these days it seems whatever is the flavour of the month with the SP guys is the "only" thing that catches bream.

Thats what I thought and part of the reason I started this thread.

    Keep em comin

    Bretto

  15. Whats your softie of choice for Bream.

Not haveing caught to many, my fave are a number 2 Sqigie curl tail in white and a white manns paddle tail. Seem that I have most of my luck on the white lures for bream.

I would like to create a top 5 if possible from this list to create a shopping list for me.

    Cheers

  16. Seen this on another site and thought it might be a good way for new members(me) to get to know some people. Please join in if you want to.

My name is Brett, 36, with a wife and two small kids. I have only been into fishing since I got my first boat ( a small tinne) about two years ago. I only get to fish once or twice a month and i am so envious of all you guys that get o fish heaps by the look of the reports. In summer a bit more cause I fish fom my Yak for bass near home. I really love fishing with lures (soft and Hard) but my catch rate needs to improve. I'm sure it will in time. I am now not only addicted to fishing but fishing web sites as well. They are a good way to meet people, have a laugh and LEARN HEAPS. My bigest Bream on Lures/plastics is 24cm(pretty poor I know but its a start) Flathead is 51cm and Bass 42cm. Parramatta is my footy team we are on our way back last weekend made it one in a row for us.

Anyway that it from me. Hope some of you join in.

    Cheers
