  1. Please guys before you buy insurance read the PDS the whole thing not just what you think is correct because is probley not correct.

I'm in the middle of a claim right now a lot of stuff not covered ie fishing gear it say $1000 per pice up to $10000 max I'm like sweet that will do, now that I'm claiming it's correct $1000 per pice and max$10000 then the insurance guy tells me it's rod and reels only so again I read it I'm like it just says fishing gear then he says to read another part it for definitions under fishing gear it says rods and reels only, totally @&$&ed, by the way that's Clubmarine, so far they have been pretty good I have lost about $2500 bucks worth of gear that's not rods and reels maybe more hoping my downriggers I just got come under the boat fittings not fishing gear same as our riggers

Again I stress read the PDS statements from cover to cover and ask questions lots of them

  2. Hi all sorry about not keeping this everyone upto date with good reason tho, it's been a crazy busy time for me and my new family.

    So the full story is

When my boat was stolen my wife and I were expecting our first baby, the day the boat was stolen my wife was already 2 days over due, boat was stolen on the 22/5/14 our little girl was born on the 27/5/14, 7 days over due buby and mum are very well, anyways during this time we have been put through the ringer in a full blown investigation with the insurance company as if we were the ones who stole our boat, my wife and I were both interviewed apart for 2 hours in total then had to supply a few days later our full phone records, all our bank account statements for months leading upto the theft, then how we paid for the boat back in 2011 with our bank statements showing the money being withdrawn , we also had to give all my dive licences to prove I was a diver for the dive gear in the boat, our drivers rat licences what for I still don't know, and my boat licence, plus all the photos of the boat and the list goes on, oh this happened after the boat was found too, then a week after all this I went into hospital for surgery on my ankle come out to recover not I have a blood clot in my calf, who the hell have I pissed off I ask lol , at least I have to say having our little girl has been our blessing through these times

Anyway we are just starting to get things repaired on the boat as it has some damage to the skeg and lots of gear missing, nothing but a pain in the ass

Again sorry about not replying sooner life's just crazy for us I can't wait to get the boat fixed and back on the water I will be back to update everything about that was done to the boat

    Until then tight lines

    Chat soon

  4. Yeah we are living with my inlaws as sold our house and are building a new home, I mite add that the house we are building is being built to fit in the triple garage with an extra hight roof

It's was parked on the council strip out side the inlaws house

It had a hub lock and a lock on the tow bit, look like they took it with a truck look at the tyre marks on the kurb,

As nasty as it sounds I hope they choke and die thieving burgers, we work so hard to get things like boat and no hopers just take them.

Only thing I can think of is the metal drain cover for the anchor well is damaged and where you go into the cabin the fiberglass bit you step over has a small pice out of it both side bait tanks are plumed as well not often you see that.

I hope my pride an joy finds it's way home soon

  5. It's was taken from Mount Annan, NSW.

It's had 2 locks on it one on the tow ball bit and a hub lock. They took it on a truck as there are large tyre marks on the curb in front where the boat was

  7. I'm not sure about Aussie John Dorys but in nz growing up I always used baby snapper as live bait not sure what the law is in Australia for using baby snapper for bait but it always worked the best it was nothing to bring home 5 or 6 in a sitting. And they are not as slow as you may think.

  8. Well I finally pulled my finger out and got myself a pair of Cannon uni-troll 10 STX down riggers for my boat yay.

Ok after reading a few other posts about downrigger setups I was thinking I'll install both at the rear sides of the boat

Main thing I wanna know is can I use the rod holder on the downrigger.

At a guess they should be ok other wise why would they put them on there right they just look flimsy.

    What do fellow raiders think

  9. Yeah I can understand that, I have a 2010 tournament with good night nav equipment on board, when I was about 15 I had a very similar experience to yours back in new zealand to top my trip off that night we lost our outboard off the back to date I still don't know what happen lucky we were close in when it happened, not fun I still get them funny feelings in my gut when I head out at night

Anyways went out last night got a bunch of yakkers then headed for the outside island, never got a thing altho there was so much phosphorous ( glowing stuff ) in the water everything lite up like a jack-o-lantern it was crazy never seen it so bad

There were lots of yellowfin frames in the bins at the ramp very fresh too

  10. Hi there follow raiders, is there anyone that can tell me what the fishing is like around the islands in Wollongong (I'm over Botany Bay) what is on the bite there, are there jackets in plague numbers there too.

I was out in botany on Saturday went out to 150m of water dropped my line down and snip about half way down my line waste of about 70 -100 meters of fins 80lb braid bad now my line only just makes it to the bottom oh then snip again lol almost ready to chuck some explosive over the side to clear a path for my line lol anyway so I put that rod away as its not to short to get to the bottom and grab my 50lb braded rod put on another big slab of bait and this time I get a hit line screams I'm like yeah baby then snip again I recon in about an hour I lost about $100 worth of gear

So if anyone can give me a bit of info on Wollongong I would really thankful

I ended up fishing in 30m of water and getting 3 flathead 2about 46cm 1 went 58cm had red spots on it different
