  1. Most of the live music i saw was at D.Y. Narrabeen pubs;

in no real order; midnight oil

    the angels

    ed keupper

    toys went berserk

    wurrumpi band [when sober] .

Best live band i saw was george thourogood at the hordern.

Sadly all the pub stages have made way for pokies

  2. Thanks for the reply Ross,

I'm staying at th Shang-Ri-La on the

Coral Coast, i find that charter operaters

associated with the resort/ hotel are usually

pretty lame especially in busy times, anyway

looking forward to 28-30 degree days ahead

  3. G'day Raiders;

Going to Fiji on thursday, can anyone reccomend

a decent charter operator , had a few duds last

few holidays, first time to FIJI,apart from everyone

being on island time is there anything else i should

    expect.

  4. :mad3: Although a foward pass won you the game, i think QLD

were the better side in all departments

There was no attack and anasta and bailey had shockers

and king needs. to go back to stay on your'e wing school.

Sack the coach,70% of the team and the ref now, so

we don't have to sit through a yawn fest in game 3.

  5. G'day mate , was there at chrissy 06 and did a charter on a 7mtr inboard cuddy aluminium

pissing rain and windy anchored up at a few spots and caught 1 coral trout 1kg and 2 sweetlip

Moved around alot (after about 10 mins each spot).pretty ordinary i thought.

anyway the small tinnys for hire seem pretty good , saw 2 boats come in 1/2 day

with a good mixed bag, just anchor off the drop offs near the islands

    enjoy keenas

  6. G'day raiders ,

Just your thoughts on what tackle we MUST HAVE to maximise our chances of landing

ALL fish hooked , have fish got smarter in the last 30yrs or less previlant that we must

have the big stick over them because time is more precious and we expect results??.

Or has technology overtaken the happy fisho and fish.

Anyway you can tell it's a blowout off a weekend and

    bugger all quality sport on.

  7. Hey raiders,

Purchased a 2nd hand 6 mtr boat last mth and was told by the previous owner that

you simply drive it on and drive it off.S ome times it goes like clock work (5.00am tuesday morn),

or other times (peak times at ramp ) it doesn't?.usually put trailer in upto about mid water on the

trailer wheels when launching, some times in full reverse the boat will only move about 1mtr and

stop!! but i can jump out and push it off, is it the angle i have on the tilt of the motor??, or do

i need to go further back??.have heard that you submerge your'e second centre roller in launching

    and retrieving any tips appreciated,

    thanks ahead

  8. I think the days of consistently catching 5kg reds off sydney are long gone. The months leading up to and

including spring are proberbly your best chance.Fish 0f 1-2kg range are pretty consistent all year round, but

sometimes you may have to work a little harder to find them.I personally like to fish water 35-50mtrs on

all sorts of ground, most times do not have a problem with the jackets at this depth. As for a surefire way

to always catch snapper i have yet to find it :1prop: ,as you already have caught good reds in S.A. you

would know the general musts of catching reds,i.e. steady burley trail, freshest bait available, least amount

of lead possible, soft plastics are also another option. As for location edges of hard reef, broken reef,or gravel,if you can't find anything on the sounder try drifting until you find fish and anchor up.I believe

there are 10kg fish off sydney just gotta catch it . As big rexxie says if we always caught fish it would

    be called CATCHING

p.s. did reply to your p.m.

i'm going out this friday if you want to come along

  9. Spot on, those days were great to grow up :1prop:

But sadly the creeks we would play in are now

lifeless, kids can only go bushwalking or riding

surpervised and to much noise in the street would

    draw a complaint!!.

I used to fish nth harbour in 70s and catch a wide

range of species (jews, trags and hairtail). The quality

fish would go to the family and the rubbish would be

sold to neighbours.e.g. pike= rock whiting

morwong = deep sea racing bream

    salmon = soapy jews.

great way to make a bit of pocket money.

  10. Hey all,

Just wondering if there is a easy way to

remove large rego sticker off painted hull??

    It's a decal about 300mm high and nearly a

metre long, tried picking it off with my fingers

but was only getting tiny bits off.

    Thanks any help is appreciated

  11. If you buy your pillies from a place that

has a good turnover e.g. tackleshops,

they are pretty good for one go only

    next trip they're berley.I hook a whole

pillie in the centre and under the back bone

exposing the whole hook. this can only be

used when floating baits and is deadly on

    snapper.

    Keenas

  12. The braidy bunch has certainly grown in recent times,

however i am yet to be converted, did try it on one line

fo a while and found no great benefits. Floating baits

in a berely trail you cant beat flurocarbon/mono.

  13. G'day raiders;

Haven't been out for a while due to school hols etc.

anyone been fishing offshore 1km-6km lately ?

hoping to get out tuesday  last i

heard the current was screaming from the nth?

thanks for any info, Keenas

  14. Iam a bit confused as to someone who seems to be really keen in the inshore side of things is buying such a large boat?

Don't narrow it down to any selection, take your time and find whats best for you. Personally a custom boat can be altered in any way you wish, that in itself is as good as it gets imo.

Have spoken to Nobles andthey tell me i can get into a NEW NOBLE 5mtr

for 40k 5.5 45k ? so there not as out of reach as namesay suggests.

The cougars although a nice boat have to much cabin .Most plate builders

are stuck on length but you can customise inside,I like the ctr cab walkaronds

and most builders dont put them in anything under 6mtr, except Nobles 5.5.

anything bigger than this is overkill for my light offshore jaunts.

    cheers

    Keenas

p.s.might have to see how namesays beasts performs before decision making.

  15. Looking at purchasing a new plate boat soon and

have narrowed it down to 3 brands

    NOBLE

    TABS

    RAZERLINE.

My budget is about 45k so im looking at 5-5.8mtr, anyone

    familiar with these brands?

Sick of having my kidneys rattled everytime i go around

Nth head washing machine!! glass boats not an option

    (to precious).

    thanks

    Michael

  16. post-2060-1163815688_thumb.jpgHi Raiders,

Went out this morning and fished middle Harbour for lots of pinkies and two nice flathead. The biggest went about 52cm. The fish of the day had to be the enormous wobbegong i caught off quarantine. Put up a great fight and took about 15mins to land. It went about 4 or 5 feet and maybe 18 or 20kgs. Quick photo op then back in the water. Shame it wasnt a keeper. I was surprised to see on my fish chart that you can take these guys. Are they any good to eat? Not that i would.

Saw some other guys with a couple of very nice fish but thats their story. Coming back into 8knot zone at Roseville got pinged for speeding by MSB - bummer!

    Top day to be on the water;

well done on the catch, wobbies are top eating and pretty rare these days especially in the harbour

probably a good thing you released it.

bad luck about the fine :( but i'm sure it's 4knots from killarney pt to the ramp

  17. They aren't just ugly as a hatfull of @^#%holes, they are far uglier!! If you are after a comfortable ride in a tinnie then you should have a look at the Noble super vees. I had the same issues when I wanted a new boat. My love of tinnies is the cause of the pain in my neck ---from all the pounding from them over the years.

But the super vee has a ride better even than most glass fiber boats. If you have ever seen the Berkely off shore DVD, this is the boat they are in. CHeers Kelvin

I have been looking at nobles, they definetly are better

looking and i've heard they ride well but are a bit exxy

for what i require (light offshore ) could be a bit of an

overkill. do you have one kelvin ? if so what size

    Michael
