  1. Ripper Bass there. It does seem that there are a few bass in the river.

I've just started Bass fishing out of a Yak but have small tinnie as well which might be the go in the future.

Can I ask where you launched the boat from?

  2. Nice work on the bass. there's bigger ones in there for sure. The river has dropped heaps and not much flow at the moment, you can only paddle about 200mts upstream from the carpark before the water stops with about 20-30mts of rocks into the next section.

Nice and peaceful down there at Yarramundi. Good luck on your next trip.

  3. Before work finished for the Xmas break I set a workmate and myself a challenge over the holidays. We had 2 weeks off and in that time we had to catch a Blackfish, a Bass and a Flattie.

1st day off I set off to Middle Harbour to chase a few Luds as I already had to take one of my sons over to Coogee for his Xmas party. The gods were on my side with a calm swell and a few Luds about, managed 2 and dropped another at my feet. 1 of 3 complete...

After the Xmas/New Year celebrations were over I decided to target the Bass. Now I've only ever fished for Bass once before and that was a good 10yrs ago. I had a few lures but decided a new one was in order, a nice colorful cicada would be the go.

Buddied up with a mate and headed to Cattai Creek up near home. Well the day didn't go to plan as I broke the tip of my rod off after about 15mins and that put an end to that session. A quick trip to BCF that arvo to use a Xmas gift voucher and a new rod was purchased.

Next day headed to Yarramundi by myself and launched the Kayak at 6am to a beautiful and peaceful morning. Needless to say this day ended better with 4 bass landed..2 of 3 complete.

    One to go...

Checked the tides and decided a high to low session out of Berowra Waters sounded good. Pulled the tinnie out of the backyard, gave it a good clean and ran the outboard...all good and ready to go. Launched yesterday around 8am and spent 5hrs flicking Cranka Crab lures along the edges, another beautiful day and success with a legal Flattie landed. A few more would have been nice but hey challenge completed...3 of 3....woohoo!!!

I haven't fished that much in ages and really enjoyed the different techniques used to target each species. Next year I'll have to add another species to the list.

Tight lines everyone and Happy New Year.

  4. Nice work whoever has the electric outboard on their Kayak, made life easy getting back to the start of the drift I noticed.

Hard work yesterday. I flicked Cranka Crab lures along the banks for 5 hrs and managed 1 keeper Flattie...got to be in it to win they say!!

  5. Hi all,

Heading to Burrill Lake next Sunday for a week with a tinnie, any fish around at the moment?

Staying at the Big 4 and will be fishing the lake and hopefully some ocean rock fishing on the other side of the highway.

    Cheers Jed.

  6. Hi there,

I'm heading to Burrill Lake at the the end of the month for a week. Happy to see that I might be in with a chance of some fish.  You were able to gather the nippers from the shallows in the lake or are they from somewhere else?

    Cheers Jed.

  7. Hi all,

I'm heading to Burrill Lake for a week at the end of March, using it as a base, and spending some time injecting some cash into the local towns down South.

However fishing will also be on the list and I'm hoping to gather some info on Burrill Lake. I've seen a few posts in the past and will be targeting the basics of Flathead, Bream and Whiting, although I do like to Blackfish as well.

Nippers, are they available around the lake sand flats to pump out? I'll be in a little tinnie so can get around a bit at least.

Any info much appreciated. Cheers in advance..

    Jed.

  8. Evening all,

Anyone know if there are any Blackfish being caught up at the Entrance at the moment? Hoping to get in a fish tomorrow before the rain hits.

Any info for land based would be much appreciated.

    Cheers Jed
