Few options;
anchor at the front and back to stop the boat from swaying.
Handline with 50lb or similar mono line.
Big hook with big bit of bait. Running sinker straight to the hook
over the side. Leave the handline and watch it.
soon as it starts to slowly peel line or move away from the boat start to very slowly pull the line in.
net the crab before it breaks the surface.
Other method is all the same as above however create a birds nest of line around the hook, they get stuck in the nest.
also a stocking can be used in the same way as the bird nest option, best to wait till the missus takes em of first

first chance to fish in 6 months so I was a little excited but expectation and realality rarely marry up . We were on the water a little after 5am and headed out side, started fishing the 50 meter line in front of the Southern head land catching lots of little fish sgt bakers,squire, goats and so on, made a move further north and tried the 40 meter area got 45cm flatty first drop the nothing, with wind stating to pick up we moved over to watts reef for 1 legal tawine 25cm and a stack of little snapper then went over to mol point as we got there a couple of blokes were taking a pic if a nice snapper of I would guess at 40cm plus, decide to try our luck and anchored up lots of little snapper again but did catch a bream of 28cm and had good size king follow it up, we tried a drift up the middle of the bay catching more little snapper with the wind getting stronger we pull the pin were home by 12.

on the water by 6am went out the front of the bay to try for some flatties then have a crack at the snapper we have been hearing about well that was the plan, the wind was a site more brisk then it was supposed to be with wind and current going in the same direction we couldn't hold bottom even with 2 pound leads and when we did hold bottom we were jack attacked, lost all our heaver leads but we did get one little jacket that we kept out of spite. my mate was getting a bit green so we came back inside and tried whatts reef lots of little blurters went over to mol point and tucked out of the wind ended up catching 2 beam 27/28 cm 1 bluter 30 cm 1 gurard 26 cm and a large banjo ray that went back had to be back for my sisters birthday so off the water by 12
