  1. What a beautiful jew, pitty you didn't catch it this weekend if you were fishing the Classic, with fish like this coming in looks like the river will be buzzing for the Classic.

Hopefully we will see a few specimens like that at the way in.

    Congrats on a great fish.

  2. Hey Dad,

good to see you using the computer. am looking forward to fishing the classic with you this year.

  4. Hey all,

thanks for your congrats. IT was an awaesome feeling getting up there and winning the rod reel and trophy. The flatheads getting weighed were huge, they ranged from 1 to 4 kgs.

    The winning fish was 18kgs.

What a great day i had with dad yesterday especially when i caught the fish.

My fish was 64cm and weighed in at 1.83kgs, not all that big compared to 18kgs. But i am happy.

  5. Any tips on how to get my wife keen???!!!

Patience is not her best quality if ya know what i mean.

I was thinkin of finding a school of salmon and hit em up with some light tackle..... that could work!!! ha ha!!!

I have fished all my life, my family have lived on the Hawkesbury River for many generations so the water is in my blood, Perhaps finding a school would work for a few minutes but i find if you don't have the patence you wont get into it.

My hubby doesn't fish and i can't get him keen so i have just given up on him coming!!!!!

  6. Congrats on the PB Flathead Kat!!

I bet sunday was a cracker weather wise.

Nice to see Laurie in shot too

    cheers

    jase

Thanks Jason, I had to put one photo with dad in there to make him happy.

Hopefully we will see you in the harbour soon.

  7. Great catch Kat, you've done well.

    Shame being 10 grams off.

Would love to join the lake maq club. Is there any website to join that you know of....

Where abouts were you fishing in the lake?

Hey, Thanks don't know if there is a website. We were fishing near Diamond Head (i think that is it either that or diamond point) and at the reef just off Sumerland Point.

    post-2319-1178594625_thumb.jpg

This is exactly the same as what we look like when we are out on the water under normal circumstances it is funny really

    post-2319-1178594641_thumb.jpg

I didn't catch anything, it was a set up photo. captured my passion perfectly but.

  11. What a great day on the water. We ended up with a trev and flounder. The Sweeney got his PB shovel nose which was fun cos it decided to make friends with our other lines. It was great hearing of so many raiders out there.

Also met Fisherwoman and Laurie(The Sweeny)Thanks again for the 2 boattrips last weekend Laurie!!

Congrats on the PB King Hook'm, It was great to meet you.

Anyway great day out boys an girls will have to do it again. Great to run into Fisherwoman and The Sweeny out there. Pity we couldnt get you two into some as well. Your bait was as good as ours, just a pity the kingys where few and far between.

It was great to see you guys out there, thanks for the tips and for trying to get us into those kings as well.

Hope to see you all on the water again soon. :biggrin2:

I have to say, to all you raiders who are such a freindly and helpfull bunch of people, we have learnt alot from all of your tips and it has brought in some good fish for us.

    Thanks

    Kat

  12. Thats a great report, :biggrin2: good to hear as me and Big Banana are going down this weekend

If the fishing is half as good ill be happy :biggrin2:

Did you pick the snapper up while targeting the flatties, or pick them up on the close reefs offshore?

    Thanks Shaun

We got the snapper driffting in deeper water about 30m, they liked fresh the squid heads. The other boat with us anchored and berlied and got plenty too. We sat on some of the reefs but pickedup to much junk so we started drifting, each drift we picked up 1 or 2 snapper. They were on the bottom and not biting like normal they were pulling on the bait so we had to hit them to get them hooked.

  13. I'm heading down there this weekend. Hoping for the same amount of luck! :biggrin2:

if you are going with a boat we got the larger flatties in about 10m of water and pretty much on any drift across any sand, they were pretty much everywhere.

Thanks for the comments everyone, however the funny thing is I don't eat fish, hahahhah, I only catch them so my dad has kept them all.

  14. Hey all,

Bit of a delayed post. Went on our annual fishing trip with THE SWEENY (my dad), godfather and friends to currarong from 30th March to 5th April and we had the time of our lives... :yahoo:

    Day 1.

Caught about a douzen lizards and 4 snapper, didn't get pics got to caught up in the moment and forgot.

    Day 2.

Got out early and couldn't go wrong

    post-2319-1176779778_thumb.jpg

    Day 3.

    same as day 1

    post-2319-1176779785_thumb.jpg

    Day 4.

Who could have had a better time

    post-2319-1176779792_thumb.jpg

We had the best year we have had for a while, The flatties were everywhere, we were throwing and that were just legal back because we were catching so many, we even named a gps mark Jurassic Park, I caught my PB flattie and Snapper. We were catching them on squid, pillies, fish baits, pretty much anything we put down.

The snapper weren't biting like they normally do they were pulling on the bait like the lizards do.

The weather was ok, had a few rainy days, but who cares when you catch fish like this.

We had some trouble trying to get squid due to the wind everyday, eventually got them of the rocks on the beach just on dusk.

We took a freezer down with us and it came back full. Now that's what i call a week we will never forget.

    Kat

  15. we are heading down that way over easter

    Callala beach

the squid are running hot at the moment in the bay, around long beach.middle groung & long nose are holding kingies.honeymoon has been hit & miss with some good size flathead, there are also heaps of pesty leatherjacket(small ones)

  16. hay all,

Heading down to the south coast for our annual 1 week fishing holiday from this Friday can't wait :yahoo: . We will be staying near Culburra.

Has anyone been fishing down there lately and done any good, if so what bait were you using and what areas were you fishing in.

We go down every year and come back with a good fridge/freezer full of fish. but thought i might see if anyone is doing any good to give us an extra headstart this year. :074:

  17. now that is what you call quality tucker

all those fish you caught are all special on the dinner table.

    well done

yes the snapper were the perfect size for a dinner plate, all fish were fat little buggers they have definitely been feeding alot lately.

  18. Top job bet your stoked with that :1fishing1:

We were definitely stoked, it was great

Well done very productive morning...i was spewing i didnt hit the water yesterday after a mate told me it was dead also traffic wise

Thanks, There were hardly any boats on the water either, it was crazy, we thought it would be busy. They must have all been up under/near the bridge.

  19. :biggrin2: Hey all,

was supposed to go out Saturday in the Harbour but got food poisoning Friday night..... :puke:

So THE SWEENY (my dad) and I decided to head out Sunday :1fishing1: and oohhhhhh what a day. :yahoo:

got to Tunks at 5.30am expecting it to be a bit busy, with the bridges birthday and all, it was dead, there were like 3 cars there. You beauty, put the boat in and headed to balmoral to get some bait, was there for 2 mins and first yakka was in the boat, then dad gets something big on the bait line that busts off, he thinks stuff this, grabs MY new rod, a uglystick - baitcaster, with my reel that i won on at the King Social, and puts some squid on it and down it goes,

I am standing there looking at it and BANG, i'm on, bring it in a nice red measuring 35cm's. Keeper. Bait goes back in, bang another snapper same size, end up with 4 snapper between 35 and 40cms and a bream at 38cm's. Give dad the rod cos he is a bit bored/gealous and bang he brings in a beautiful flatty measuring about 48cms. :yahoo:

So the total on my new rod, 4 snapper, 1 flatty, 1 bream. I LOVE THIS ROD. :biggrin2:

Then dad gets on with his rod, this fish is taking him everywhere, it goes straight for the anchor he yells "KING KING" !!!, brings in a nice king at 65cm's.

We couldn't believe it this all happened in about 2 hours, and all at the bait grounds, it was amazing.

It went quiet after a little while so thought we would go check out CG but that was quiet too only had one hit and it busted off. So we went home at lunch with a nice bag of fish.

I have got the pics on my camera will post them soon.
