  1. The DFC were out chasing blackies again today this time on the eastern sydney rock ledgers

First location arrived about an hour before full tide,it was a little dicey so we sat and watched the swell for around 1/2 hr before approaching the ledge.

The swell was very inconsistent and in the next two hours only produced 1 fish.

Then within a 5 min period we had two guys up ended with yours truely one of them, you can never underestimate the power of water.Well that was it we were out of there with myself nursing a nasty gash to the shin.

Travelled to the second location where things werent much better but after a lot of observing decided to approach the ledge with extreme caution.

There was a hard noreaster blowing as well as quite a big swell so conditions were rather difficult but with a falling tide was fishable.

The upside of things there were plenty of fish, over the next 2 hrs there were 30 odd fish landed.

Royce was back big time landing atleast a dozen and the smile was back.

Trev and paul were consistantly landing fish with reg chipping in aswell.

That left rory and myself facing donuts the pressure was on big time as we were consistantly reminded about the donut rule,

At the end of the day we were all happy as the dredded donut rule didnt come into play when rory and myself finished in a flurry landing a few fish each.

Another great day out with the boys as well as learning a valueble lesson,NEVER UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF WATER.

  2. Good going boys. I went out last Tuesday and came home with a plain donut. Not one down. First time in a very, very long time. Loads of kelp and storm water debris, plus the swell was too big for outside. Oh well. I have found a flanno in one of the clothing bins, so I am halfway to managing the harbour dress code. One day.......

  3. The DFC was back in full swing ripping up Sydney harbor on the weekend conditions weren’t the best

But that didn’t stop this bunch of die hards.

The el presidente was off to a flying start landing the first couple as always then disaster stuck, with eye

and Vision troubles struggled to see his float which disadvantaged him greatly and gave us the upper

    hand.

Dan was out cracking his old cane rod which got a good workout with some big fish, good to see him out

With the boys before he starts his home detention (any time now). Speaking of home detentions Adrian

Should have almost served his time by now it would be good to catch up with him again.

Trev was his cheeky self trying to convince me that the bunnies had half a chance against the mighty

Roosters I quickly explained to him that they have bugger all chance.(did he forget round one last year ?)

And after a lot of coercing I finally secured a $5 lottery ticket from him. (I bet he wont sleep well this

    Week).

This week rory was very quiet for his standards (smiles all round) it may have been the hoodoo of a new

Rod. (Hope he brings it next week), although he did manage the fish of the day late on which went

    Around the 40 mark.

It leaves me now with the founding member of the DFC Paul who today absolutely murdered them,

Must have put a dozen in the net and from my knowledge didn’t have one infringement.( trev may

    Have other thoughts).

All in all another great day out with the boys chasing blackies around Sydney harbour, it wasn’t easy

In the wind and we had to move a few times to find them.

Cheers to all… (the refreshment officer)

ps..Forgot to mention the upgrading of the board room.. thanks to Rory

  4. REMINDS ME OF MYSELF,CANT WALK PAST A COUNCIL PICKUP WITHOUT SCABBING SOMETHING UP. MAYBE ITS THE MT.DRUITT COMING OUT OF ME.

AS FOR THE SEASON WELL ITS BEEN GOING NONE STOP,SOMEONE AS GREEN AS MYSELF I THOUGHT IT WAS FOR THE COOLER MONTHS BUT THE LAST COUPLE OF MONTHS HAVE BEEN FIRING IN THE HARBOUR.

WELL DONE ON THE FISH,BETTER DONE ON THE TRIPOD

    CHEERS.

  5. nice report steve,8 fish is quite a good haul

ive also experienced the same fustration of fish that take the float down hold it than drop it,i dont think its a float issue more of finicking feeding habit.

i am no expert on blackfishing but i do think if your getting sleepers than maybe your fishing a touch too deep,

    cheers

    john

  6. yes just to eliminate twist in the line.when using paternoster i always use a swivel as well as a three way for the dropper or two if using a double dropper and a swivel with a clip to attach star sinker, the beach on rough days with a stong current can give you some major twist in your line.

  7. gyday mousse

ive been using alveys for years, have models from 3 1/2'' to 6 1/2'' as well as blackfish models.

it feels good to have that direct power in a reel, one tip though when beach fishing must use two swivels and with a paternoster rig use a three way swivel rather than a standard dropper knot.

you now have a reel for life enjoy.

    cheers

    john
