  1. @ Noodles Sorry with the pic mate, was very tired after the fishing and had only my iphone to take a quick pic before the skipper distribute the fish.

@ Bertrand Let me clarify that there were 11 of us fishing on the charter and everybody end up with 1 snapper above 60cm and 2 snapper between 40-60cm to take home. So it's not like i took home all those fish in the pic, but i understand and appreciate your concern in conserving those fish. so hopefully no hard feeling mate...cheers :biggrin2::biggrin2:

  2. Hi all long time observer of the forum and first time report. Fly to Adelaide for Christmas and went on a fishing charter specialize on snapper. First drop of the bait,

straight away triple hook up, the biggest being 75cm snapper (not sure about the weight) and then went quiet for while and the skipper decided to move to a different

spot. Same thing here, after about a few minutes the snapper were on the bite again and they range from 40cm to 70cm. We keep moving to different spot and catching

snapper after snapper until we caught the beast at 90cm.

Never been really good at making report so i have attached picture for y'all to see.

Any question ask away

PS: Does anyone know a goof fishing charter for kingfish and mahi mahi from sydney? cheers

  6. Having to pass a test means nothing, how hard is it to pass a drivers license test? you learn about all the do and don'ts about driving, don't drink and drive, speed kills! but has that stopped all the deaths on the roads?

So test, license or forcing people to wear life jackets is not the answer, people will still go out and rock fish no matter what change gets put in place with or without regards to the laws, it's just human nature.

People rarely look ahead and think about what might or can happen, people just think about the now (I'm here to catch fish - in this case), everyone thinks it will never happen to them until it's too late, and that is the sad reality of life, if you're lucky you get a second chance but sadly in most situations there is only one outcome.

Longy it's true that learning about the do 's and don'ts about driving does not prevent death on the road, but it DOES REDUCE the death on the road imo. Take my home country where driving with the influence of alcohol is allowed and there is no speed limit enforced, the death toll percentage is staggeringly higher than australia. Educating fisho about the danger of rock fishing will not completely eradicate rock fishing death but it will reduce it. In reality it is almost impossible to eradicate something completely but it is always possible to reduce it if effort is applied. I for once has stupidly fish on the rock with nothing but a pair of thongs and i was lucky nothing happen to me. At the time i did not know anything or understand (i am asian too btw :biggrin2: )about swell or the danger of rock fishing. So i guess I was lucky to learn the danger of rock fishing before anything has happened to me. I am sure most of these people that die from rock fishing did not understand the danger and if the government manage to educate them then i guess we can save maybe 8 out of 10 that died. Just my 2 cent anyway no offence intended to anyone

Provide your own gear? Yes - but mostly for landbased though i am sure can use a few for the boat.

Provide your own boat? No - Willing to share the cost if anyone is keen on bringing me :biggrin2: though i dont know much about boat but I dont get sea sick

If anyone can help show me some spot and technique will be appreciated

    cheers

  8. You can fish there we were there the other night, its a long walk and tough climb down, not to mention it is very uncomfortable fishing, didnt have much luck though managed 2 tailor around 40cm.

hi flatiemad did you climb through the second fence as well towards the end of the breakwall? cos i reckon it will be agood kingie spot in the morning......

  9. hey guys just want to know if there are any spots in botany bay landbased for night or day fishing.. besides the really long walk place that gates closed at night..just want to target bream, whiting. or even just kill some time..

    Cheers peeps..

Can you still fish at the breakwall (the one with the gate closed at night)? I know a few years ago a lot of people fish there after dark by climbing the fence but can you still do it today?

  10. Thats what I mean't - they are different sizes. Personally I would go for the standard Trinidad rather than spend the extra money on the DC. The standard reels have a centrifugal anti-backlash device and are very smooth casting reels. They need a bit of weight to get good distance though - probably due to them being more a jigging/ boat reel and having a heavy spool designed for strength.

thanks for the input mate :thumbup:

  11. The 20 and 30 are different models aren't they? I have a couple of the standard Trinidad models (16N and 30). The DC models have an electronic anti-backlash control and are very expensive. I'm not sure how durable this system is for saltwater use. I can vouch for the standard models being fine reels. The 20 would be a better choice for jigging with the narrower spool (it would also be easier to cast).

i think the 20 and the 30 is only different in regards to the size. The Dc model is indeed expensive and would like to find out if they are any useful and hence justify the price.

    cheers
