  1. the sad thing is where I fish if they are not biting them nothing else is

If I catch a cockie then I at least have a hope of getting something else...

These dastards take all bait from worms to pillies!!

I usually pull in two cokies to 1 bream

Allround, they are a POFS and annoying

  2. I heard a little roomer lately that the rock cale are actually a good jewy bait, yet to test it myself or even if i would.

They are not even bait worthy mate, they are not even worth a PB effort from a Blackfishermans point, i might be wrong with this comment but they are not regarded highly, if caught they are released and hope they are not around in numbers on your day off the pebbles.

  3. Condolences to the family

All the PFD and everything else that is talked about will not help you in certain conditions, a few places we looked at today for a fish was cancelled after watching the water for 15 minutes. We searched a few more places ( some well known for wash ins and lifes ) to see a special type of people that give the sport a bad name fishing in one Sydneys most dangerous rockfishing spots, with a rising swell and wind picking up a recipe for disaster but the ol fish seems to be more important to them.

So what do you do? You can explain the dangers to people, but if they choose to listen is another thing.

  4. luderick_angler smokes them absolutely marvelous.

i fry them in a little olive oil and margerine sprinkled with lemon pepper thats after they've been filleted, does me.

Filleted, garlic and chilli mixed in with egg before crumbing them then pan fried in olive oil, just made myself hungry thinking about it.

  5. That stainless steel filleting table was tops Rory. I can see maybe a side business coming up for you here. Also can double up as a beer table. All we have to do is score some bar stools now :bar:

Sounds like a plan mate, i will start looking around for some they can`t be to hard to find until then we will have to see the refreshment officer for a trial beer table run.

  6. It was a top day & after being out of it for the last few outings with hardly any fish being caught, I finaly got my mojo back again & it felt so good. I like to give a special thanks to Rory who made up a stainless steel filleting table for the DFC and I reckon when Royce's eye gets better, he is gonna come back with a vengence & the master is gonna give us boys a lesson in blackfishing we will never forget.

    Paul

You can put your bottom dollar on Royce making up for it Paul, and cheers for the thanks mate all good, if your gonna catch fish in style may as well fillet them in style too

  7. Nice report as usual John. Yes it was a great day out and honours to Paul & Dan ( bet ya Paul has still got a big grin on his face :D ) and yes I had a quiet one this w/end I was just resting my arms, they were a bit sore from the previous weeks fishing plus i was only fishing 2ft deep most of the day with no bait, pretty much just resting up for next week :fisher:

  8. Hey Rorz,

I will be in it ...let me know when they are ripe!

    I will bring the squid!

    Love ya work!

    Chris

No worries mate i will kep in touch and let you know when they are ripe, I havnt had to many takers on the ol Scorpion. Especially after me mate tried them at the chili festival in Perth and fell to his knees in pain ( he`s a pretty well seasoned chili eater too ) and the word spread pretty quick, so most people i know wont go near them lol

    Cheers Rory

  9. 4mm x 300mm bamboo skewers from 2 dollar shops, they don't generally have them in Coles/Woolies. CHampagne corks are easy to source and easy to shape. Finish the top off with something a little thicker, 6-8mm dowel perhaps, to give your float a good visible portion. Do some with fluoro tops and a couple with black tops for when floats aren't as visible in the glare.

    Matt

Thanks Matt, What is the best paint for floats and do you have to put a undercoat on them to seal before painting to stop it soaking into the cork and dowel?

Cheers again mate for the info much appreciated

  10. get some offcuts of foam from a surfboard maker some wooden skewers from coles and plastic tubing for top and bottom of skewers as line guides[adjust to depth] foam is easy to shape paint with water based paint light blue base and fluro orange for tops

    peter

Cheers Peter, much appreciated and it will give me something to do while the swell is up.

    Cheers again Rorz
