  1. Look at the shimano blue water/T-Curve range. My talica 12 works great on it. I have the 15-24kg one and run 60lb braid. A very light and capable setup.

    Hi Rob

how do you find the Tcurve for trolling. Isnt it too light

thanks Brewboy, will be looking at the Saltiga rods this week.

    thanks

    Adam

  2. Hi all

Looking at an all round rod for jigging and light game (trolling for fins, small marlin etc) to match a Talica 12 two speed.

game rods are just too heavy and jigging rods seem to light & thin. I need something in between. yet I still want it to be on the light side, if there's such a thing

I looked at the Jigrex, Daiwa Monster mesh, heavy ugly stik jigging range but still dont think they are right. I am yet to try the Jigging masters but was told that they wont be right for what i want.

    Any suggestions please

    Adam

  3. thanks guys,

it sure was a top day on the bottom dwellers.

mate, I must admit the 2nd tuna i dropped was from my stupidity. After feeding about 100mtrs of line I left the reel in free spool so you can imagine the rest. fishin browns is all new to me as well but It is pretty exciting

    Warnie,

mate dont know if there were makos as we didnt sight any but we did lose several fish in mid water level. However, we did have a huge seal also take our fish as well

    Mike

the water temp was hovering around the 19.5 mark from browns to at least 7kms east. We trolled back from Browns to 12 mile and again didnt sea much of a break in the temp either

    cheers

  4. Fished Browns early yesterday. Baits down at 5:15am and first up was a double hook up on a blue eye and gemfish.

    post-26-1216278031_thumb.jpg

Fishing was very good. Temp held at 19.5 all day.

By 11am we had our bag limit of Gemfish, 3 Blue Eye & 1 Ribbon fish, a first for us all.

Hung around Browns for tuna nothing so trolled further east looking for a break in temperature. No change at all so came back to Browns on the troll and dropped a small tuna, cubed for another hour again but nil. Just before we leave had a hit on the cube but dropped again.

Back at the ramp close to 7. Great day out but no YFT landed

    Cheers

    Adam

  5. nice bag of fish there DTROJAN

how do you find the ramp in Bellambi especially when the wind is up a bit. I'm thinking of using it as I have a few snapper spots to try out as well.

    Any info appreciated

  6. nice blue eye mate

are you sure it was a sailfish? its not something particulary common off sydney more so being the time of year... more likely a small striped marlin

mate, I'm not quite sure to be honest, possibly strippie but not 100%. I called it for that but the other fellas said it was a sailfish so who knows.

didnt know that sailfish were non existent in this area. Thanks for the info

As for the blue eye, this is my 3rd outing now and must say it's different fishing. must be a dog eat dog world down there and apparently they get even bigger.

    cheers

    Adam

  7. Mariner,

you've done your homework. thanks for the info mate.

    Spanker

this is only the 2nd time I've caught and have eaten blue eye and yes it is beautifulllllll

nice firm flesh fillets, lightly salted & black pepper fried in very little oil does wonders for the appetite

If you can get your hands on some, try it you will luv it

    cheers

    Adam

  8. Well a disappointment it was on the YFT front but the blue eye made up for it.

Out of Botany yesterday at 4.30am greeted by SE, heavy rain and lightning striking in the direction we were heading. Took close to 2 hours to get there in the rain and dark. Could not see anything on the water.

Got to browns and the temp was hovering around the 22deg mark. I found the temp to be quite high. Anyway, started our first drift and straight up we were on to a small blue eye.

    post-26-1212112197_thumb.jpg

An hour or so later picked up the 2nd fish that came in at around 12kgs and the third fish close to 20kgs

Set of looking for fin. Put a spread of lures out and trolled for over an hour and all this time the temp seemed to be increasing. Nothing on the troll so we found a spot amongst 6 other boats 10ks out from browns and started a cube trail. This for a good 4 hours but could not even turn a real.

We did however see a small sailfish jump out of the water twice but no YFT. All day the water temp was in the high 22 degrees. Could not believe it but another boat reported the same readings.

Pulled the plug at 5pm and was back at the ramp at 5:50.

    cheers

  9. You've had yourself a top day spikey. well done mate, top fish

I am thinking of heading out on Thursday, looking forward to getting into some .......... hopefully

how far off from Browns were you guys. I heard fish have been coming out only a few km's past browns but the bigger fish are apparently 10-15ks out.

    what do you think ?

    cheers

    Adam

  10. Greg,

    I have PM'd you.

it sure has been a while. did think it was that long but

didnt we brain it on the flatties that day considering it was a bream comp. Anyway looking forward to catching up.

mate, thats a beast you got, not a boat. do you have something else for outside or do you make do with that

    cheers

    Adam

PS, I hear Jorg was working for you. Must be a real shame.....

  11. Mate we bagged out on 40kg fin just after lunch and then we had a triple hookup while waiting for a mate that we had called over to fish in our cube trail. We caught 10 fish yesterday all around 40kg. One of my best days on the water to date!!!!!!!!!!!!!

mate, how far out were you from browns. thats a ripper of a day.

we could not turn a reel at all

GregL how are you. Looooong time no speak. what are you up to.

Havent hit the bream scene for over 18months mate but will do some soon. Thinking of fishing Mt white & spencer next week.

    cheers

    Adam

  12. Spent a whole day out at Browns again yesterday, but nothing to write about this time.

Didnt get on the water till a 10am as we had hydraulic issues to fix. Got to Browns around 11:30 and she was pretty much like a washing machine.

bottom bashed for a few hours to no avail then trolled and cubed but no fish around.

    Got back in around 6:30pm

    still beats being at work.

    Adam

  13. nice entertainment there Methodman. That surely a better trip than what we had in December 2007.

I'm curious as well, where did you launch from SWR or Hat Head. I was told that Fish rock & Grassy headland is a really big hike from Hat head so most people launch from SWR

    cheers

    Adam
