As a Tech for the main supplier of 28 years working on new installs and Adsl repairs I work in the New sub Divisions of Kellyville and the Ponds and they are not installing fibre to the node in these areas so if you think they will be installing this in the next year or two in Sydney in established areas GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS

After installing the Radio next job the tank Aerial for the boat The biggest disappointed was most brands Gme and also the Navman brand didn't give the option of the main pole being removed So I ended up using this type
The one thing I have found is the more holes you drill the more paint corrosion problems occur under brackets
So after I drill the holes I Then hand touch up the inside of the holes with paint I also use Sicoflex under the brackets and this has stopped all my paint problems

Though Id put up a post Re Installing a Radio in Dashboard
I always crap myself at the thought of the Dash cracking whilst doing this type of work
So hope this helps future installers
I started with the setting of the template and the measure to fit Using masking tape as a bass prevent the drill slipping and fiberglass cracking
Next job was to drill out the rounded corners using a smaller bit at first and working up to the correct size
After the drilling was done out came the jigsaw make sure it's sharp and not to course I found that having a variable speed type helped also.
Also support the cutout to prevent it braking off
The fun bit now use stainless screws and wire to fuse box and pre drill to mount to dash

Hey huey,
Quick one for you...........
Have a Quintrex 530 spirit, with 90 yamaha 2 stroke standard prop.
not real happy with speed of boat a 4200-4600 rpms @ 24-26 knots..(Could be a bit off the mark with this but you know what im talking about) will check that next time out but not much off.
do you have any option for better prof.. boat gets out of water with 4 people no problem...
looking more for better top end speed or better allround proformance
Any help will be much appriciated
Kind regards mark
Woody I had the same prob on my Allycraft I went from a 4500 on my genuine prop to 5200 max rev by changing the prop size/ pitch and height of the outboard also picked up a extra 10km

If you move the Draw bar forward by unbolting the clamps that would push the boat up closer and shorten the over all length 40 cm shouldn't make to much difference

I agree with wetpatch, better to contain it. I have one section on my used boat under the aerial that has run rampant. I also treat all holes i drill with etch and then paint before putting lanolin on, bit of mucking around but worth it in the long run. Kill rust brand now have an epoxy etch and enamel paint in spray tins which would be handy if the colours match, alternativley you can buy the epoxy enamel in 250mls and get it tinted.
Wetpatch how have you found surface corrosion in other areas with the allycraft? When looking for boats (4+ years old) most allycrafts i veiwed had corrossion coming from under the paint, mainly around the tops of the gunnels, dash areas (if not plastic). Not enough to deter me but a tad offputing. Otherwise i thought they were excellent. Went for a ride in a 455/460 bay raider with 50 jono, liked the boat just was a tad too small for my needs and didnt like the motor. Think the Bar raider/attacker (whatever next one up) would have been perfect for me but they were outside what i wanted to spend.
Cheers all.
Mate sorry for the late reply
Over all the paint jobs on the Ally's are good There biggest problem is at the welds or under the gunnel lips or where bloody bracket holed are drilled
But the biggest thing that really pee's me is Why the hell do they drill hole in boats for aerial brackets and rod holder Yet Don't repaint unprotected edges or sicoflex every thing to prevent salt water corrosion If you want a cheap anti corrosion solution spray fish oil inder the brackets that crap goes off like honey and Ive found also helps heaps

Gday
I have the Lowrance Lms 339 which has a internal antenna I have had occasions where it hasn't lost reception at all
And other times when the bloody thing has driven me crazy I would go the external if I had a choice again I have been told that the angle of the finder makes a big difference and If there is a lot of dried up salt on the windscreen can cause reception to be lost
Today Tonight
